"Good western standard - While most campsites in Bulgaria are unfortunately gradually mutating into settlements with caravans converted into bungalows, some of which no longer accept campers at all, this is a real campsite based on the Western model. The campsite is run by a friendly couple from England who take great care of their guests' needs. For example, there is a small kitchen with a fridge, washing machines and a detailed information leaflet in German. The sanitary facilities differ positively from the Bulgarian standard. The greenery is well maintained and swallows' nests in unfavorable places under the roofs are not removed but carefully covered so that no guest gets bird droppings. Shady trees have yet to grow. For small tents, however, there is a small shady meadow under two larger trees directly in front of the sanitary facilities. Cyclists can also feel at home here. The site is secluded and quiet with a beautiful view on a narrow, low-traffic and pothole-ridden connecting road between two villages. It offers plenty of pitches for caravans, but was almost completely empty during my stay at the end of June. It is therefore probably not worth having your own restaurant. There is only a small café with WLAN, where you can sit together in the evening without being forced to consume. However, it is possible to eat well and cheaply ("close to the people") in the neighboring village or have something delivered from there - the operators offer their support for this. Unfortunately, it is a few kilometers to Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanassi, and traffic/parking are a bit annoying there. The operators are happy to help you order a cab (approx. €10). In my opinion, a visit to Veliko Tarnovo and the surrounding area is recommended for this campsite alone.

"Fantastic stay - Can highly recommend this site, just for the views. The hosts cannot do enough to make your stay perfect. Very close to a beautiful town, which offered free walking tour, well worth it. The facilities are immaculate all the time. Beautiful nature all around with different birds, etc.

"Beautiful, clean campsite with super swimming pool - This is one of the most beautiful campsites I have ever visited. Very clean and well maintained. Good organisation of facilities. Everything is provided. Laundry, kitchen, family bathroom. Helpful and friendly staff in reception. The best place we stayed in Bulgaria.

"Motorhome Camping March - Cannot comment on a lot of the facilities as they were closed. We were lucky they let us stay as the campground is normally closed this time of the year, Very much appreciated. You would need to contact prior to arriving to ensure you can stay out of season and make sure you do stay if you advise you are coming. Lovely helpful couple.

"A nice, relaxing ... transit campsite - Very well organized, excellent location both in terms of scenery and distances, only good for camping on the way to/from Greece. Utilities (power, water) at camping pitch, even leaks for domestic water at some places. Very clean sanitary groups. But beware of the entrance/exit ramp which is very steep (gravel). Although on forums they talk about the availability to be helped at the exit (towing the caravan), I may not have been lucky ....

"Surprise in the Balkans - The pitches are of an unexpectedly high standard. Connections for water, waste water and electricity are available at the pitches. A satnav is recommended for the journey, as there are no signs. We received an extremely friendly welcome. The restaurant offers a large selection of typical local dishes at a reasonable price. We recommend day trips north to the rock monasteries of Ivanovo or south to the Shipka Pass or the museum village of Etar.

Camping Veliko Tarnovo is a brand new, purpose-built campsite designed and managed by life-long campers. The panoramic views from every pitch are stunning and as the site is just outside the village, it's perfectly quiet. You can look forward to …a good night's sleep. Modern, clean bathrooms that are purpose built with free hot water, laundry service, family bathroom and camper's kitchen. Restaurant and bar offering a range of Bulgarian and international dishes. 20 meter swiming pool with dedicated childrens pool and lifegaurd. 16 Amp European style electricity points and fresh water on every pitch, and grey water drainage. Free Wifi internet across the campsite. Tourist Information available. Dogs and other pets are welcome. Group bookings by arrangement.

Directions from Veliko Tarnovo Drive from Veliko Tarnovo east on the E772 towards Varna You will climb a hill for 4kms, passing through the village of Sheremeteya at the top of the hill Then descend a hill for 4kms and …take the exit road to your right - sign posted Elena After 1km look for a road to your right - sign posted Dragizhevo Drive through village until you reach the village center (there is a grass covered circle) 50m after the grass circle, turn left at the cross road Continue until you reach the end of village Campsite is on your right in 200 meters Directions from Varna Drive west on the E772 towards Veliko Tarnovo Look for an exit road on your right - sign posted Lyaskovets / Elena Turn right at junction at bottom of exit road After 1km look for a road to your right - sign posted Dragizhevo Drive through village until you reach the village center (there is a grass covered circle) 50m after the grass circle, turn left at the cross road Continue until you reach the end of village Campsite is on your right in 200 meters Directions from Elena After you pass the village of Merdanya look for a small lake on your left hand side Immediately after the lake take the exit road to the left Follow this road for 2kms and you will find the campsite on left
