"Always a pleasure! - We spent 2 nights at the "Château de Martragny" campsite and were very impressed. The friendly woman at reception and the owners of the château and campsite were very, very nice. Beautiful pitches, pool, new sanitary facilities. We can only recommend this campsite and would choose it again at any time.

"Great ambience in interesting surroundings - A great base for exploring the area around Caen and Bayeux and the invasion beaches. The site lives from the beautiful flair of the castle, offers charming pitches in the castle garden with pool, restaurant and plenty of charm with very friendly hosts. The brand new and fine, very clean sanitary facilities significantly enhance the site, but suffer from the fact that the toilets are in the middle of the washing cubicles. The electricity and water supply need to be improved. A visit is definitely recommended

"Castle park as a campsite - Can confirm everything that astrid-99 has written. In addition: there is a children's playground, tennis court, table tennis tables, billiards, soccer fields with goals, badminton nets... so lots of leisure activities. WLAN free of charge and network throughout the site!

"good starting point for Bayeux, landing beaches and Caen - The park of the chateau is the CP. The well-kept and beautiful pitches are idyllically situated either on the driveway to the chateau or behind it and are planted with old (fruit) trees. However, the grass could have been shorter, especially in the evening hours, at night and in the early morning the relatively long grass was very wet due to the dew. The pool area is not large but clean and well maintained, and you also have a beautiful view of the fish pond and the chateau. Some of the sanitary facilities directly at the chateau are apparently relatively new and spacious, but not very well maintained. It bothered us that the toilet cubicles were right next to the shower and wash cubicles and were not separated for men and women. If everyone "behaves", this is certainly not a problem, but more than once I had the feeling that a male fellow camper was using the toilet without any consideration for any subsequent toilet users, i.e. the toilet seat was left up, full of pee, etc.. In addition, the whole sanitary building smelled of unavoidable "toilet odors", which do not spread everywhere if the toilet area is separated from the shower and washing area. The other two sanitary blocks seem to be older, but we didn't use them as we were right next to the new ones. There is no shop/kiosk on the campsite where you can buy the essentials. The staff on the campsite were very friendly and courteous. The excursion possibilities in the surrounding area (Bayeux, landing beaches, Caen) are good. Cycling is not so recommendable in our experience, as even well-developed cycle paths suddenly end and, if you are not careful, you suddenly end up on a highway.

"very nice big place - The Schlosscamping has a very long access road, which also offers the possibility of pitches. The staff at reception are very friendly and helpful. The site as a whole is very clean and well-kept, the sanitary facilities are new and also very clean. Unfortunately, we had a pitch that had previously been occupied by a dog owner. The stench of dog urine was disgusting.

" - Not overcrowded even in August, wonderful site, new sanitary facilities with lots of showers and toilets, so you never had to wait. Impressive surroundings, pool with a view of the castle ...

The Château de Martragny is ideally located between Caen and Bayeux, in the Calvados near D-Day beaches, in the heart of Normandy, France. Very easy to reach by ferry and car from England. The Chateau de Martragny offers a 4 …stars campsite with 160 spacious pitches in beautiful surroundings. Reception, shop, bar and restaurant are in the authentic old barn of the 18th century château. Tennis, outdoor heated pool and fishing pound are south facing and affords a gorgeous view of the château. This is a charming family campsite where the emphasis is on beauty, pleasure and relaxation. The campsite offers lodge tents to rent which can sleep 4/5people. You can also experience the real « vie de château » choosing the authentic B&B and gîtes at the Château de Martragny. Campsite open from May till September.

By train : Normandy is well connected by rail with Paris. Bayeux trainstation at …7 km By sea : The ferry ports of Cherbourg, Le Havre and Caen-Ouistrham are the most convenient for travel to Normandy although it is not far from Calais. Calais to Caen is 345 km and will take about 3 hours. How to come to Martragny ? In Normandy, between Caen ( 18 km) and Bayeux ( 7 km). Take the National 13, exit " Martragny ".
