Our pitch was level, had an electricity connection and was quite far away from the sanitary building. There was a water tap nearby.
The site is laid out in terraces.
The site is still under construction.
The sanitary building... has been modernized. The toilets are not separated from the showers.
Coins, cards or similar are not required.
A bread roll service is offered to the vehicle in the morning. The baked goods must be pre-ordered in the evening. The bread rolls were from the local bakery and were very tasty.
The restaurant on site is small and clearly getting on in years. Our meals were very tasty and simple, but sufficient for us.
We found the manager very friendly.
The area around the campsite has unfortunately been badly affected by climate change and the associated forest dieback.

The location is well suited for excursions, as you can reach your hiking starting points quickly thanks to the nearby main road. The road itself is not audible and it is a very quiet situation on the site.
The small restaurant offers a very tasty schnitzel.
The bread rolls at the pitch early before eight are sensational.

Pitches are uneven, motorhomes should have wheel chocks on board. Toilet cubicles are very small, good cleaning despite high occupancy. Unfortunately, there are not enough cabins... available, so you have to queue during the morning rush hour... One cubicle is a children's toilet with a half-height door that cannot be locked - a waste of space, hardly any children will use this toilet...
WLan was pretty good, bread rolls too, operator very friendly
high additional costs in the form of visitor's tax and energy surcharge, we couldn't find a pedestrian zone in the town, car traffic everywhere...
the food in the restaurant on the campsite was good, but unfortunately the portions were quite small in relation to the price..., in such an environment and after a long day in the fresh air we felt an appetite for a "proper" portion, sorry! 2km to Braunlage, cycle paths and cross-country ski trails right outside the door.
Very nice operators, we felt very comfortable, bread rolls delivered directly to the vehicle.
We borrowed a fire bowl free of charge... and had a nice evening at 5 degrees.
On the other evening we tried the restaurant, schnitzel, pasta, cabbage rolls of the day, "simply" rustic, but delicious.
Sanitary clean, everything top, 3 washbasins for the whole place at peak times a bit little.
We cycled to the Wurmberg valley station (2.5 km)

From here you can walk to Braunlage in about 30 minutes and explore the town. If you want to go skiing, you'll have to use the car as there isn't really a ski bus. You can hike from here in all possible and impossible regions/directions.... If you use the car, you can also explore the other great places in the Harz.
The site is terraced, so you don't just see white walls. If you want to pitch an awning or similar, you need sturdy pegs as the ground is stony. The sanitary facilities are very modern, which the sanitary building does not really suggest from the outside. Mobile phone service is poor. WLAN should be purchased, as the billing is fair. The local tax is quite hefty, but if it's good for the forest in the Harz I, or rather we as a family, are in.

The pitches are mostly flat. However, you may have to use a wedge.
The main path is unfortunately very narrow and... therefore not suitable for two-way traffic. And unfortunately there are also a few potholes. Not so nice with a trailer...
The bread roll service is legendary. Top!
Unfortunately, the restaurant has steep prices. But since it's always "full house" in the evening, the landlord probably didn't do anything wrong.

The entire surrounding region with its many sights is definitely worth exploring: "Climb to the Brocken and also to Braunlage's local mountain, the Wurmberg, take the Brocken Railway to or from Schierke, visit the many reservoirs".NegativnoPoor mobile phone reception, but that even applies to the city.Cozy terrace with very friendly operatorsWe have already been guests on the pitch several times.
Another visit to the Braunlage campsite from
26.6.2020 to 24.72020. In the meantime, the site has been taken over by a Dutch couple a few years ago. They are extremely friendly and helpful. The sanitary facilities are completely renovated and up... to date; nothing has changed on the site.
The location of the site is simply ideal. The town of Braunlage is within easy walking distance.
There are several terraces with parceled out pitches that offer enough space for caravans, awnings and cars. From here you have a beautiful view over the site.
There are plenty of electricity connections. In the lower part there is a flat, unparceled meadow that rises slowly at an angle.
There is a small restaurant opposite the reception with good home cooking at moderate prices. There is also a great bread roll service. The boss himself brings the bread rolls, croissants or baguettes ordered the day before directly to the caravan between 7.00 and 7.30 in the morning. I've never experienced that anywhere else.
The only drawback is the virtually non-existent mobile phone network. If you want to make a cell phone call, you either have to drive to the cemetery or take a short walk of about 600 to 700 meters on a hiking trail that leads to a small hill near an underpass or to an overpass of the B 27. But the site operators cannot be held responsible for this shortcoming.
