- Andrew W.June 2013A HIDDEN GEM IN THE EMERALD ISLE My self and my wife and 2 children traveled from Wales in our camper to do a little touring in Ireland and our first stop was Lough Ennell Camping and Caravan Park, as we drove down to the camp we were greeted with a truly magnificent view of the lake with sunshine glistening... on the water and both old and young enjoying themselves . We checked in at reception and were escorted to our site of which we had a choice by Eamonn, after setting up we went for a walk around a pristine well maintained site only to loose the kids to the well equipped playground, well we left them there while we had a lovely meal in the Lakeside Cafe which is run by the the owners wife Geraldine and family it was busy but service was quick and friendly. Later on we watched a football match on a big screen with some of the residence and were invited to their Bingo night that evening in the community hall which is next door to spotless toilets and showers, we had so much fun on our first day that we decided to make it our base for the week as there is so much to see and do in this part of Ireland. We will be back again to this hidden gem in Co Westmeath
