Something needs to be done to the paths as they flood in heavy rain - not very nice. Otherwise the pitches were good as always! The bread roll service worked very well again. Bread rolls very expensive in the morning.A weekend in CologneWe stayed at the campsite for a weekend. Basically a beautiful location, right on the banks of the Rhine. However, the pitches and especially the paths were very soggy and dangerously slippery due to the rain of the past few days! Of course nobody can do anything about all the rain, but for a 4* site... at least paved paths would be desirable. Just like a stable power supply! I thought our fridge was broken, but then realized the following week in Holland that the breakdown and flashing of the fridge display was really due to the power fluctuations on the pitch. For almost 40 euros, for two people per night, you can expect a reasonable power supply, I think.

All in all, a 2 out of 5. Only providing a pitch with electricity is not enough for more.
Sanitary building not sufficiently cleaned.

Bistro and beer garden closed.
You can save money, e.g. because there are no... vacations in NRW yet (in other federal states there were already vacations). But not in the wrong places and then still charge the same price all year round.
The number of washing facilities and toilets in the sanitary building was reduced during our stay. A good idea in itself. But the cleaning staff also seem to have been minimized. Toilets and washbasins, as well as filling up with paper, were probably done on a makeshift basis and also swept through from time to time. But if I'm there for a week and don't always see the same hair on the tiles, it's all just been done quickly and probably not by professionals.
There are no hooks, mirrors, sockets or heating in the sanitary building.
During our stay (one week before the start of the vacation in NRW), paths were refilled with gravel, trees were pruned, pitches were renewed (shafts, beadles, paving...). These are regular jobs that have to be done on a campsite, I realize. BUT does it have to be before 8:00? The reception with bread roll sales and the barrier open at 8 a.m. I think it's absolutely cheeky to allow such a racket on the site from 7 a.m. onwards.
For me, the sense of camping since 1931 (when the site was founded) has clearly been lost here. It starts with small details. For example, the homepage advertises a beer garden and bistro. However, there is no indication that these are not open all year round. There is a restaurant with good quality food, but this is more suited to a hotel or glamping. But not for camping.

The pitches are spacious and are not parceled out. But that doesn't bother us at all.
It's easy to sleep in and it wasn't particularly noisy.
We didn't have any bikes with us as we only wanted to go to Cologne city center for one day anyway....
It was good that friends gave us a lift by car. The connection to public transport leaves room for improvement.
The bread roll service is a very good thing, even though we were a bit late and therefore didn't have much choice. We were still full and the rolls are good.
The food in the restaurant was good and went quite quickly. Beer was good to drink. Sanitary facilities good and clean.
All in all 2 nice days.

Michael V.August 2021Pozitiva- clean sanitary facilities - quickly in the center of Cologne - located directly on the Rhine - friendly staff - delicious bread rolls - delicious beer :)Negativa- Lots of movement on the pitch (used by many as an overnight pitch) - no offers (7 for 6, etc.) and therefore cost-intensive - no animation / youth roomIdeal location, friendly staff, short distancesWe stayed here for a week as a family with children (13 and 15). The site itself is clean, as are the sanitary facilities and the distances are not too far. The staff at reception and on the site were friendly and, as is typical in the Rhineland, you are immediately greeted on the first name :)
The... site itself doesn't offer much in the way of "entertainment" for children. Apart from a playground, a football pitch (which is right in the middle of the caravans and so slows down the kids' fun a bit) and a table tennis table, that's about it.
Cologne as a metropolis is not far away and can be reached on foot in 1 1/2 hours, by public transport or by bike in 25 minutes and by car in 10 minutes.
The site is always busy, so there is a lot of movement in the form of caravans / motorhomes, which we personally don't mind - there is always plenty to look at ...
... the next time we want to go to Cologne, we would definitely come here again, also because of the lovely beer garden.
Bread rolls (except the plain ones) and the items from the store are quite steep, as are the overnight prices. But there's not much choice here and in the end it's still worth it if you look at what Cologne has to offer and put that in relation to an overnight stay in Cologne :)Automaticky přeloženo.- Nina R.July 2021PozitivaLocation, cleanliness and gastronomy. The pitches on the Rhine are beautiful and are only separated by a cycle path and fence. The sanitary facilities are very good and were always very clean.
The permanent campers are in the middle of the tourist pitches and behave... like the local deer. For shortcuts you just walk across the tourist plots without asking, usually with a dog as they all have one. The restaurant was a better snack bar and was not to our taste.
If this place didn't have dogs and the restaurant offered more it would be great.
