The indoor playground (Robby Robbe) is an absolute blast. Especially in bad weather....
For active vacationers such as climbers, hikers and mountain bikers it is also not far to Ibbenbüren (Dörenter Klippen etc.). This year is the end for good.
We will not be coming back.
The sanitary facilities were clean for the first time this year, but the owner's attitude is... unacceptable. The first people to arrive were immediately asked if we were a group. He doesn't want groups on his pitch!
We are 4 families from the surrounding area. We have followed the rules every year. The night's rest apparently doesn't apply to everyone. A lack of understanding for us. As empty as it was on this rainy weekend, he is apparently not dependent on guests coming.
The bread rolls offered on the square do not deserve to be labeled "fresh". It should say "to bake" on the bag.

As a family you feel very welcome. For the little ones there is everything that is fun. Children can stand almost anywhere in the lake. We received a very friendly welcome on arrival and the staff in the restaurant and mini store were also very friendly. Prices for food, ice cream etc. are really very reasonable. Use of showers and... hotplates costs extra. Loveless youth and children's room. Food from the snack bar not tasty. Selection of food in the store corner is extremely poor. Situated between Ibbenbüren and Rheine, it is one of the most beautiful places there is. The site offers lots of special features that you won't find anywhere else. Around the lake, which is surrounded by a sandy beach, pines and birch trees, there are unparceled pitches. You... can pitch your caravan or tent wherever you like. The lake itself is about 500 m long and a maximum of 1.60 m deep in the middle. Even small children can play safely in the water and be watched by the parents sitting by the caravan. In summer, when it is really hot, the lake has an almost meditative flair. There is excellent catering, very clean sanitary facilities, playgrounds, mini golf and a tennis court, bicycles and pedal bikes and an indoor playground. There is another special feature on the day of departure. Here it is not the case that everything has to be vacated by 12.00 noon, no...you can leave on the last day until 22.00. Dogs are not allowed here! We've probably been there over 50 times and will always go back on the free weekends. But have a look at the website of the Herthasee, there is a lot more information and pictures. One more note: On long weekends like Ascension Day and Whitsun it is very, very crowded there, so you can have problems finding a place. This year it was so full that the site had to be closed for a day for new arrivals. But otherwise it's no problem to get a suitable pitch at Herthasee. Addendum (03.10.14) In the last 2 years, 2 sanitary blocks have been renovated and given a new coat of paint. But not just any old ones, because an artist was at work here. When you look at the graffiti-style motifs (beach and sea), you can't help but be amazed. Everything has been decorated with a lot of love and attention to detail! It is now also possible to reserve comfort pitches with their own water connection and a large pitch online.
