Very clean campsite, as well as modern and clean sanitary facilities, several cleaners come daily. Modern clean/functioning kitchen. There is an integrated playground for children, which has something to offer for every age group. Boat landing stage directly on site. Short drive to the city. Short drive to the nearby amusement parks/activities. Food/drink vending machines available. As well as daily fresh breakfast pastries/semmel on request.

Saalburg-Bad camping site
Very clean campsite, modern and clean sanitary facilities, several cleaners come every day. This made us feel very comfortable.
Modern clean/functioning kitchen.
For children intigrierter playground available, which has something to offer for every age group. Our child under 12 was able to play there... with children under 6 and over 12. Playground is fenced on one side to the parking lot, but still clearly visible.
Boat landing stage directly on site.
There is also a slipway (boat directly into the water) or can also be attached to a jetty.
Short drive to the city.
Short drive to the nearby theme parks/activities.
Food/drink vending machines available at the campsite.
As well as daily fresh breakfast pastries / rolls on request.

Infrastructure Few parking spaces for tourists

Saalburg on the Bleiloch dam ("Thuringian Sea") has two campsites. The other is called Saalburg-Kloster and is located to the north of the village, directly on the water with a risk of flooding. It is also quite noisy there because many events take place there.

Saalburg-Bad, on the other hand, is located... to the south of the village, well above the water level of the reservoir, so there is little risk of flooding. All pitches have a beautiful view of the reservoir. It is characterized by many permanent campers, for tourists there are only 10 parceled, relatively small pitches available, plus a tent meadow. You should therefore not go there without making an inquiry in advance. The pitches only have electricity. You have to walk to the water and waste water.
The sanitary facilities are fairly new, i.e. modern. They are kept very clean. Bread roll service available. Nice people in the site management.

Distance to the village approx. 2 km. Nice place, but hardly any shopping facilities and few restaurants, of which only about half were open, although the place was otherwise very busy. It was difficult to get a seat without a reservation. The advertised cafe seems to be permanently closed. From Saalburg you can take various boat trips on the reservoir.

Basically, the place should be quiet. During our stay in September, however, we had to complain about various nuisances, which is why we will not visit the site again.

A note for cyclists: although the area is very beautiful, it is not really suitable for cycling. There are hardly any cycle paths, the roads are narrow and winding, but are still very busy, so it is not safe for cyclists. The gradients are also not without their challenges.

The prices are ok. In September we paid €22.50 for a caravan, car, 2 people including electricity. There is also a tourist tax of €1 per person per day.

Super campsite
We were there for one night and were welcomed as friendly and helpful as all campers. The groundsman obligingly showed us all the important facilities. The tourist pitches are ideally located in relation to the sanitary building and the reservoir. The sanitary facilities are very clean and well equipped.... There was no longer a bread roll service, but it was easy to walk to the bakery (approx. 900 m). It's a wonderful morning walk :-) We will definitely be back.

Beautiful campsite with a great view of the lake. Unfortunately only a few tourist pitches (approx. 15) no shopping facilities nearby but a beach café with lunch and dinner at a good price-performance ratio.

Overall good
We stayed three nights with the motorhome on the pitch. The site is clean but basic. Motorhome pitches on grass, which makes it difficult to leave when wet. The sanitary facilities are very clean (although the site was almost empty when we visited). There are no shopping facilities on site, a walk of... approx. 600 m is necessary. Bridge is closed until at least the end of the year and only open to pedestrians/cyclists. The reception was very friendly. Dogs are allowed but should be kept on a lead at all times. Gastronomy at the lido (approx. 200 m) is good and inexpensive. We would love to come back.

We stayed overnight at this campsite. It is conveniently located directly on the lake near the highway. Many permanent campers, transients welcome. The manager was very nice and extremely accommodating and flexible. No store but the village is within walking distance. A bakery car comes to the site in the morning. The wash house was very clean. Reasonable price. We will definitely be back again.

The worst campsite ever
There are no shopping facilities on site and the toilets are cleaned once a day. There is nothing on offer at the campsite and the pitches leave a lot to be desired. Suitable as a stopover but not for a longer time. Parking possibilities in the season under all sow should be changed but parking lot leaves much to be desired.
