- Walter C.June 2017PozitivaThe location.NegativaLoud and expensive.Super space for a lot of moneyModern CP directly on the cliffs at Durdle Door. Well-equipped store and pub with restaurant available and also open in the low season. Friendly reception. In addition to over 300 mobile homes, tourist site with approx. 60 parceled out pitches equipped with electricity, water and drainage, spacious and... framed by hedges. Sanitary facilities ok, reasonably equipped and clean, accessible via code lock (therefore no more day visitors). There are still some non-parceled areas in the large public parking lot with sea views, but these are very sloping. The site is located directly on the access road to the parking lot, separated only by a hedge, therefore very noisy during the day - especially at weekends. Up to approx. 2,000 to 3,000 vehicles, including buses, pass by a few meters from the pitch every day. Registration and advance payment required, even outside the main season. The exposed location without direct competition in the immediate vicinity is very expensive: The equivalent of €48 for a camper van, 2 people, low season, per night! But Durdler Door and Lulworth Bay are well worth a visit!Automaticky přeloženo.
- Alice W.June 2017PozitivaLocation. Friendly ladies at the receptionNegativaUnheard crows cawing all day long.Campsite with an enormous colony of crowsWe were looking forward to staying at this campsite, made a booking and had to pay in advance. The anticipation quickly gave way to disillusionment. There are countless colonies of crows in the treetops. The outrageous cawing starts after 6 a.m. and lasts all day until late in the evening. Not to mention the droppings. We won't be visiting this place again. There are better places for the equivalent of 43 euros per night.Automaticky přeloženo.
- Johannes T.June 2013PozitivaGreat location, hikes possible directly from the campsite,Negativarestless due to the many tourist busesBeautiful place, top location, but with restrictionsThe site consists of a small section for tourist pitches (although the pitches themselves are quite large) and quite a few mobile homes, some of which are also available to rent. The site is close to a military training area, but you don't notice much of it, although the coastal path is closed during... exercises. However, you can walk in the other direction at any time and enjoy the view of the sea from the chalk cliffs. The Durdle Door itself is a 5-minute walk from the pitches. There is a store, a restaurant etc. and the wash houses are basically ok. The only problem is that coaches with tourists arrive at the site every day, who only walk to Durdle Door for photos and almost all of them then use one of the wash houses "in passing", which are sometimes no longer presentable afterwards. However, you can then switch to other wash houses (which are a bit older, but have charm and are clean). The staff are super friendly and the prices for the location right by the Durdle Door are perfectly acceptable for my taste. All in all, the site is highly recommended.Automaticky přeloženo.
- Iris P.June 2013For 32 pounds, which you have to pay in advance for the duration of your stay, I've seen much better elsewhere. However, the site is located directly at the Durdle Door and the operators pay for it! Every day, groups of tourists arrive in buses to marvel at the sight in a parking lot in front of the... site. This makes the place very restless, especially because you can only visit the playgrounds with small children via the busy roads (we were traveling with a couple of friends and their children). The tourist groups described above also use the campsite's own sanitary facilities, so that these can hardly be used during the day because they are covered in dirt and there is no more toilet paper available (this is already scattered on the floor). I don't even want to talk about the "cleanliness" of the showers here, because with this chaos I don't think anyone really pays attention to "cleanliness" anymore. The building is cleaned and locked between 11.00 and 12.30, but from around 15.00 you can hardly use the sanitary building => and we weren't even in peak season. However, the facilities at the campsite are perfectly fine. With a friendly reception, a store and a pub with outdoor dining, it's great. However, it is also very expensive. It's worth taking a car to go shopping; the pub is also too expensive in terms of price/performance ratio. WIFI is advertised on the site, but doesn't work (not even right next to the hotspot). Otherwise you can barbecue anywhere, there are even permanently installed barbecue areas for everyone to use. Incredibly good washing machines and high-performance dryers are available. Unfortunately, the site is always dirty due to the day tourists, so the operators can't keep up with the cleaning (plastic waste lying around). However, the grass is mowed until around 11.00 pm. The pitches are really well maintained and generously laid out. The location of this campsite is really good and I mean that honestly. You can go on very good cliff walks from the campsite, but you can also go on excursions by car. However, despite the great location, we won't be going back to this campsite. 3 stars only because of the incredibly good location.Automaticky přeloženo.
- Uwe P.August 2010We (family with 2 children 4 + 8) were there in August 2010. The location of the site would be worth five stars to us. It is situated above the Durdle Doors rock gate behind a hilltop and is therefore somewhat sheltered. There are also pitches with a sea view, albeit on a relatively sloping meadow. However,... these are likely to be quite sensitive to wind. It takes about 5 - 10 minutes to walk to the sea. The infrastructure of the site is otherwise quite OK. The pitches are large and relatively flat. We had a pitch on the "Abbyfield" with electricity, water and waste water. The site has a very reasonable store and the obligatory pub for England. The surrounding area is well worth a visit, especially Lulworth Cove. But even in bad weather there is plenty to do, e.g. Tank Museum, Monkey World, Poole, etc. . We would go there again because of the great location.Automaticky přeloženo.
- Stefanie v.August 2010We (family with three children 12, 10 and 7) stayed in West Lulworth in August 2010. The campsite is beautifully situated. The pitches (Abbeyfield) are very nice, sheltered from the wind and spacious. The restaurant (pub) on site is good (pool table also available) and the store has everything you need.... Once a week there was karaoke and once a week a children's disco. The sanitary facilities are ok, but there were often problems with the showers. The forest playground has a small soccer pitch. Booking in advance seems sensible!Automaticky přeloženo.
