- Michaela J.July 2024PositiveDirect lake access, well-kept meadow area & jetty by the lake, clean sanitary facilities, good store, uncomplicated check-inNegativYou mainly pay for the location. For the price, the showers/toilets could be spruced up a bit, but they were always very clean 👍Great location, camping without frillsWe arrived spontaneously and were able to choose a place. You can't make a reservation, which has advantages for some and disadvantages for others. You can go on beautiful bike tours, are quickly in Kaltern, many wineries & excursion possibilities around.
You choose this place for the great location... on the lake. The neighboring lido is very lively when the weather is nice & entrance fee, the campsite has its own access to the lake. Otherwise just a small playground for the little ones and sanitary facilities. These are no longer visually up to date, but were always spotlessly clean. If you expect more, you've come to the wrong place. There is a small, well-stocked supermarket directly in front of the site. Nice atmosphere with "real" campers, no snobs 😀. We would come again!Automatisk oversat. - Sandra D.July 2022PositiveNone foundNegativAt the beginning of July, we were informed in an unfriendly manner by the lady at the registration desk that no dogs were allowed (according to the camping guide, dogs are allowed) and that she had a lunch break in 5 minutes. When we asked her to open the barrier so that we could turn around, she just said we should push back. Which is what we did with all the cars packing up. It's a shame that people like that are at reception. We will certainly avoid Lake Kaltern in the future and won't recommend it to anyone. Not welcome with a dogDogs are not welcome here and the lady at reception is certainly in the wrong placeAutomatisk oversat.
- Daniela W.July 2021PositiveLocation is good, but not uniqueNegativVery unfriendly Not suitable if you expect flexibility and customer friendlinessNot recommended. Unfortunately very unfriendly and inflexible. After a long journey, we didn't find our way around straight away and wanted to take the kids for a quick dip in the lake in the evening. After a very unfriendly reception from an older version of a surfer boy with a halter, we took the children swimming somewhere else and preferred to camp somewhere else. Not recommended ‼️Automatisk oversat.
- Thomas K.August 2020PositiveNice smaller place with particularly friendly service and a great groundskeeper who takes care of the well-being of the guests in several languages !!!NegativBehavior of some guests with dogsBeautiful place right on the lakeThe site has its own beach right on the lake.
The efforts of the staff, especially the groundsman, are very good and very friendly. We would love to come back!
The surroundings are simply beautiful!Automatisk oversat. - Alfred S.May 2019PositiveDog-friendly, very comfortable sanitary facilities, great location on the lake and close to Kaltern with its famous winesNegativnone!very nice place directly on Lake Kaltern, lido, sports store, restaurantBeautiful, spacious site with its own lake access, clean facilities, very well-kept sanitary facilities, friendly staff. Hiking and cycling opportunities, water sports. Shady pitches (for a fee) also outside the actual site. Shopping facilitiesAutomatisk oversat.
- Sonja L.May 2019PositiveFriendliness, cleanliness and the location directly on the lakeNegativnoneVery nice locationdirectly on the beautiful Lake Kaltern. Starting point for many beautiful bike tours and hikes. We will definitely be back 🌞👍Automatisk oversat.
- Michael B.September 2018PositiveClose to the water, often a little view of the lake.NegativNo water points distributed on the pitchMediocre place in a beautiful locationLake Kaltern is worth a visit. That's why even this mediocre place is worth a visit.Automatisk oversat.
- Michael H.August 2018PositiveGood location, wonderful surroundingsNegativnarrow pitches, sometimes quite noisyGladly againAlready the 5th time and always happy to return. Although some of the pitches are very small and uneven and the sanitary facilities are not the newest, the location of the site is unbeatable. Great bathing opportunities and starting point for all kinds of activities.Automatisk oversat.
- Andreas W.July 2018PositiveNice access to the water, good starting point for excursions, decent sanitary facilities.NegativUnfriendliness at reception. Small pitches. Price/performance ratio.Gretl at the lake in July 2018As the campsite doesn't take orders, we drove to Gretl on the off-chance. We arrived in the morning and were greeted in a somewhat bad mood. We had the impression that we were being a nuisance. When we asked if we could stay, we were shown a map of the site with two pitches to choose from. However, both... pitches were still occupied and only became available hours later. We opted for one after all, but friendly service simply looks different. Overall, the site is not bad. The sanitary facilities are clean and big enough to cope with a full pitch. There was a constant coming and going on the campsite itself. The free access to the adjacent outdoor pool is very pleasant, even if we rarely used it, as swimming in Lake Kaltern with the campsite's own small "beach" over the jetty was much nicer. The pitches are a bit cramped, but relatively clean. There is also a store belonging to the campsite just outside. In contrast to the reception, the service here was very friendly. A little further away, there are also reasonably priced restaurants. We recommend a hike around Lake Kaltern. It's a good 8-kilometre hike and can be completed comfortably in 2.5 hours. A ride on the Mendelbahn cable car in Kaltern is also highly recommended. The bus stops very close to the campsite, right in front of the valley station. All in all, the Gretl am See campsite was not really bad, but not really great either. Due to the unfriendliness, you didn't feel completely welcome and comfortable. The price is also a bit steep. We have experienced a completely different price/performance ratio and friendliness at another campsite nearby.Automatisk oversat.
- Thomas F.May 2018PositiveRest and relaxation possibleVery nice locationMany of the pitches offer a view of the beautiful Lake Kaltern. Some of the pitches are a little narrow for today's vehicle dimensions. There is a considerable slope down to the water, so you have to make sure that your camping vehicle is level. At weekends and on public holidays, the lake is visited by so many people that the approach to the campsite is often blocked.Automatisk oversat.
- Karl Heinz R.November 2017PositiveLocation, tranquillity, hiking opportunitiesNegativAccess restricted by parked cars on fair-weather SundaysStill enthusiasticI've been on the site at least once a year since 1986, with a total of 35 stays so far, and I'm still impressed by its attractive location in a beautiful landscape. There is not a lot of space, but it is easy to manage. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Since Ahmed became the groundsman, the tense atmosphere is a thing of the past. I was also amazed at how confidently he coped with the completely atypical rush around All Saints' Day.Automatisk oversat.
- U&B H.October 2017Super locationFriendly welcome, fantastic location. Ideal for hiking and cycling. Gastronomy nearby.Automatisk oversat.
- Rolf F.October 2017PositiveThe surroundings, the hiking trails, the wine, the beautiful old towns along the wine route and the direct bus connection to Bolzano.NegativAn overcrowded CP (October) that doesn't give you a camping feeling unless you are close to the lake.Camping site "Gretel am See" directly on the South Tyrolean Wine RoadAfter reading some bad reviews about the campsite, we wanted to see for ourselves what the truth was. Unfortunately, it's not possible to book, so we just set off. At the end of September and beginning of October, we thought there would still be a few places available. When we arrived with the small... caravan, the first surprise was that all but one pitch was full. The pitch on offer was above, so it felt far away from the lake, small and directly behind the first bend in the pitch. It was clear to us that we would only be staying here for a week at most. The pitch layout was tight and access to most of the pitches was narrow, but not a problem for us because we have a small, manageable camper van. Overall, our first impression was not particularly pleasant, we just felt dissatisfied, especially as there was no good opportunity to take the dog for a quick walk in the woods in the morning before breakfast. So all that was left were the vineyards, and of course we removed all the dog waste. Regarding the site, the staff were friendly, the sanitary facilities were clean, although a bit dated, especially the only 6 showers. Shopping facilities (Market) nearby and well stocked, restaurant available but not tested by us. We were not convinced by the price/performance ratio of the campsite, 41.30 per day for two people with a dog (€5.00). Of course, not everyone can have a pitch with a view of the water, but if you do, your vacation is saved. As we don't spend our time on the campsite on vacation, but hike in the surrounding area, this didn't play such a big role for us, but the price per day did. Noise from the road was almost inaudible. The footbridge into the water is laid out so that you can walk directly into the lake from the CP meadow. There is a playground close to the sanitary facilities and emptying station. We went on wonderful hikes directly from the campsite to Kaltern, Montiggler See, Eppan, Tramin, Altenburg and other places worth seeing. After a week, the initial dissatisfied impression was gone because we were only at the campsite for a few hours a day. South Tyrol is a beautiful region and with good food and good wine, it's also very relaxing. In addition to the hikes, we also went on three wine tours, one of which was particularly impressive in terms of the presentation and the good wine at the Peter Sölva winery in Kaltern. After a week we resigned ourselves to the campsite and spent 13 days there. We probably won't be back again.Automatisk oversat.
- Mario F.September 2017Positivedirectly on the lakeNegativNonesimply greatMy wife and I stayed at this wonderful campsite for 5 days. Of course, the approach is a bit narrow, but it's normal to drive through with a normal caravan. The location of the site is a dream. Very nice reception. A really great vacation.Automatisk oversat.
- Manuela A.May 2017Positivethe lake, the hiking opportunities, the nearby restaurantsNegativthe really stupid driveway with the parked cars, that there was only WLAN at the reception, the "old considerate regular customer surfers"VacationAfter the horror reviews from the general net I had to correct my preliminary opinion. We had a view of the lake, the groundskeeper was nice, the san. Facilities were okay, the toilet paper should perhaps be reconsidered. The lake was great and we were able to enjoy the lake with the canoe dinghy. We will definitely be back, there was also the opportunity to eat something nearby. Would also like to give this place 3.5 stars, but don't know how.Automatisk oversat.
- Friederike & Alfred L.September 2016PositiveClean, quiet, affordable, friendly2. at homeFor 21 years - and we are still drawn to this beautiful place, usually twice a year. The lake and the beautiful hiking trails offer us daily relaxation. The bars and restaurants are just a few steps away and satisfy our cravings. There are plenty of opportunities for excursions - or simply relaxing at the campsite - always a pleasure.Automatisk oversat.
- Klaus R.June 2016PositiveLocation by the lake and mountain viewNegativApproach a bit narrowShort vacation over a weekendVery friendly staff, access a little difficult due to parked cars and trees, so we had a little mishap with the camper van. The staff were very helpful and asked if we could get around and if they could help us even when we arrived 5 minutes after 10pm. Very nice location on the lake. Small store with... Tyrolean specialties at moderate prices. Restaurant excellent, highly recommended with a wonderful mountain view. We will definitely be back and are happy to recommend the place to others.Automatisk oversat.
- Hubert S.May 2016Beautifully situated, sanitary facilities could do with renovationWe stayed at the campsite over Whitsun and enjoyed it very much. As everywhere, there are good things to report, but unfortunately also not so good. The negatives are - the very old sanitary facilities - the cleanliness of the same, because when the place is packed, including the waiting area, one-time... cleaning of the sanitary facilities is not enough! - Heated swimming pool was freezing cold. - Pitches quite small in places Positive points: - Wonderful location - Very nice and professional staff - Well-stocked store at normal pricesAutomatisk oversat.
- Alexander T.March 2016PositiveGood location for hiking, mountain biking etc.Negativ--Everything o.k. at Lake KalternWe stayed at the campsite for 3 days at Easter and really enjoyed it. The reception was very friendly and uncomplicated. We were able to choose between several free pitches, all of which were about the same size, but not too big. Rather too small for caravans. There are plenty of sanitary facilities... and they were cleaned regularly, everything was very clean. The small market was not yet open due to the low season. There is a small bakery about 8 minutes away with basic things such as baguettes for breakfast, sausage and cheese. All in all, we can recommend the place and would come here again. WLAN in the reception area free of charge.Automatisk oversat.
- Martin B.September 2015PositiveVery friendly staff free WLAN in the reception area directly at the lakeNegativSmall pitchesnice placePitches not very large, additional separate pitch for motorhomes further away from the lake. Staff very friendly, free WLAN in the reception area. Everything clean, no longer brand new, but perfectly OK. Mainly a transit site for 1-2 nights. Our children really enjoyed the very warm lake. The few spiky... things were kept almost completely away from their own bathing area with a partition on the lake. We were able to park our caravan on the outer parking lot until 18:00 on the day of departure at no extra cost!Automatisk oversat.
