Unfortunately, the tenant/owner did not want to accept my daughter and me, although we met all the current Corona requirements... of the state government, just not the personal requirements of the owner. We had previously stayed at other campsites without any problems. Power supply is quite expensive. Water is used sparingly everywhere. The WLAN is a constant nuisance and can only be reached at a hotspot for 30 minutes.Camping close to natureThe pitch is not bad as it is, but it still needs some structural improvements to bring it up to standard. Water supply and electricity are available on site, but only for a fee, which is also extremely high for electricity. 0.70 euros per KW. Waste water leaves a lot to be desired and often does not... work at all. Places on the water to look out over the lake are in short supply. Background noise, especially at weekends from the main road. Only one chemical toilet disposal available as a completely outdated system. The sanitary facilities could be better, especially when showering hardly any water comes out of the shower. Kitchen available, even there already seen better. Lounge supposedly closed due to Corona. When we first contacted the campsite staff, we had the feeling that we were disturbing them. The campsite has 4 out of 5 stars in the "peace and quiet" category. Why? It's right next to a busy main road. A good alternative for the hard of hearing, but not for everyone else. There is virtually no Wi-Fi, the toilets are undersized and dirty.Automatisk oversat.

He can also become verbally aggressive very quickly. Children and groups are not welcome.Aggressive and unfriendly ownerWe were there last year, three families with small children. We were treated very badly because we were a group and groups are generally not allowed. The owner approached us aggressively several times and in the end we had the feeling that we were not wanted. You can quickly experience aggression and... dominance there, even in several languages. You can only talk about vacation and relaxation if you go as a couple (or alone), stay for a long time, don't talk to each other and just want to read books. Not for young people, families or groups. Everything is well maintained and sufficiently intact. The operators are very nice and helpful. The number of toilets can lead to short waiting times when the site is full, as it was for us at Whitsun. The proximity to the dam is great and the shallow inlet... right next to the site attracts children to play. For a short vacation we (2 adults, 2 children 43-11) would take the short journey for us again. Nevertheless, I would like to leave a warning: we will not come back during the motorcycle season. The proximity to the road is not bad in itself. But I couldn't get used to the revving engines in 3 days. Roland N.August 2018Positive- small recreation room - new showers - very nice location - good location for excursions in the Harz MountainsNegativ- Street noise very disturbing during the day - Wifi only in front of the building - Restaurant closed - Rough sports and play equipmentNo relaxation thanks to street noise, but very nice location.We stayed at the campsite for 3 nights at the end of August 2018. We chose it based on the reviews here, which in hindsight I can't quite understand. On arrival, we were worried whether the site was even open. However, there were a few campers in the rear area and in the unlit reception area there was... a somewhat demotivated gentleman who "took us in". We quickly found a pitch that was big enough. The first disadvantage was that the ground was covered with grass, but there was also a lot of gravel, which was ideal for ground stability, but bent almost every tent nail. I have already mentioned road noise in the title. First of all, I am a motorcyclist myself. I am aware that flatlanders on motorcycles enjoy driving through the Harz Mountains. Apparently, however, it is also fashionable to do this with illegal exhaust systems. Approximately 3 out of 4 of them roared past the square at 15-second intervals during the day (even on weekdays). I don't feel any relaxation here. Another negative point is the sanitary facilities. These have been modernized, but the urinals are without water flushing, so that a considerable odor cloud went away from here. This should not be the case. The "sports and playground facilities" are unfortunately very outdated. You won't find a seal of approval on the equipment. However, the location was nice. Another "gimmick": you get a nightly visit from a fox. So you shouldn't leave any shoes outside. You can look for them the next morning. But it's a very exciting diversion for children, because the animal apparently visits the site regularly after sunset and cheekily walks into the awnings.Automatisk oversat.- Stefan G.July 2018All good!I was there for a few days with my boys and the tent. The operators are very nice and we had a nice, uncomplicated weekend there. The location is very good, we had a pitch by the water, but it could have been a bit bigger. Electricity requires a large cable reel, at least at the water pitches. I just about managed with a 20m... cable. Sanitary facilities are not the most modern, but spotlessly clean! The only thing that bothered us, but it's not the site's fault, is the motorcycle noise at the weekend. That's a real resin problem ... We thought it was good that noisy youth groups were not wanted and not allowed. As far as water sports are concerned, we had our canoe with us, but you don't have the greatest range on the dam. Ideal starting point for hikers or bikers. In summer you can go swimming and boating. Altenau with its sauna spa "Heißer Brocken" is only 2.5 km away. In Altenau there is a small supermarket, butcher, bakery, various cafes... and places to stop for refreshments. The pitches are generously sized with electricity. Water taps on some pitches. The sanitary facilities have gradually been completely renovated and are always super clean! There is a lounge with TV and a kitchen with electric hotplates (coin-operated) and sink. We have not yet tested the "Holzwurm" restaurant. There is also a small kiosk and the "bread roll counter" ;) Last but not least: the incredibly friendly, always kind-hearted and helpful family who run the place!
