- D. C.June 2024PositiveLocation, peace and quietNegativWC no glassesBeautiful place with unbeatable viewsThe location of the campsite is the real highlight: directly above the coast of Omaha Beach with the very best view of the beach and coastline. Super! There are also pitches that offer this view directly from the motorhome, in which case the access road is a little bumpier. Ask at reception beforehand... if you specifically want to stand there. The pitch is at the end of a cul-de-sac, so it's super quiet except for the sound of the sea and the seagulls. There are also various mobile homes, but the number of tourist pitches dominates the site.
The pitches without shade are all on grass, parceled out with half-height hedges (with a sea view you are "freer") and are generously sized. There are two wash houses (all ok & quite clean, no toilet seats, but paper), a small covered swimming pool and a small store with bread roll service.
The restaurant/café is also surprisingly good for a campsite. Vierville-sur-Mer is more of a very small village than a town and there is only one small store with a correspondingly limited range of products.
The reception is friendly and professional and English-speaking, as is the store and restaurant. You walk down a small path to the beach, which promptly leads past a few old World War II bunkers. It's just Omaha Beach...
At the time of D-Day there was a lot of coming and going, hardly anyone stayed more than two or three nights.
We felt quite comfortable, the site is beautifully situated on the coast and you can immediately take a great bike path above the cliffs to the Pointe du Hoc. We had a pitch with a sea view, beautifully situated on this historic beach.
The sanitary facilities are basic, but were always clean despite full occupancy.Automatisk oversat. - Michael M.September 2019PositiveLocationNegativSomewhat expensiveBeautiful campsiteThe poor ratings of the past have probably disappeared - for whatever reason. In detail: The site scores with its excellent location on a plateau above Omaha Beach with direct access to the beach. It is very quiet, but very exposed to the wind, so you should consider putting up awnings. I took mine down... after the second restless night. Some of the pitches (without dividing hedges!) have a direct sea view, which is paid for with a surcharge on the price. Otherwise, the site is divided up by hedges with sufficiently large pitches, although there is also a mixture of pitches and mobile homes. The sanitary facilities are located in two buildings in the middle of the site, are very clean and well maintained and were brought up to a modern standard not too long ago. In particular, the shower cubicles (nine per house, plus eight wash cubicles per house) with adjustable temperature are larger than average and have plenty of shelves and hooks. The toilets are located on the outside. It remains to be seen whether they will be able to cope with the expected rush when fully occupied. Urinals, a dog shower and a free freezer for cooling elements are available. There is a washing machine (for a fee) in a third building. There is an emptying facility for chemical toilets at a wash house and one for mobile homes. The latter is located on an access road to the pitches and not at the entrance to the site as is usually the case. A long water hose is installed here, which is obviously intended to supply fresh water. However, it can also be used to clean the toilets, which is highly questionable from a hygiene point of view. There is a washing machine (for a fee) in a third building. There is an Epicerie on site with a manageable and expensive range of goods. Bread can be pre-ordered the day before. There is a small supermarket in the village; larger purchases are only possible about 15 kilometers away in Port - en - Bessin at a supermarket with a petrol station. There is a small and surprisingly good restaurant. The site also has a children's playground and a covered swimming pool. In my opinion, the electricity supply is sufficiently strong with ten amps. Unfortunately, there are only a few separate water taps on the site, so you have to use the wash houses. Another criticism is the expensive WLAN (€30 for two weeks). I found the operators to be friendly and courteous. Those interested in military history will get their money's worth, which is not surprising given the recent history. Bunkers and various D-Day museums almost make you forget that there are other places of interest such as Bayeux and the Swiss Normande.Automatisk oversat.
- M. H.July 2018PositiveLocation virtually directly on the beach, pitches with sea view, central location on the D-Day beachesNegativSanitary facilities are in need of renovation...Great location, beautiful place - with some compromisesThis summer I spent five nights here with my tent and motorcycle. The pitch with a sea view was a little more expensive, but the view justified the extra charge in my opinion, especially if - like me - you are there because of the historical background of the area. The staff at reception, the bar and... the small "supermarket" were always friendly and helpful, but the "supermarket" was rather overstocked and a bit overpriced. You could pre-order baked goods for the following day (baguettes, croissants, chocolate rolls), which were very tasty, but also a bit expensive. The sanitary facilities were rather spartan (no hooks or similar in the shower cubicles, no hand dryers), and although they were cleaned at least once a day with a high-pressure cleaner, you could still smell that not everyone had hit the toilet bowl over time... In addition, not all toilet/shower cubicles could be closed or the lamps/light bulbs were defective. All in all, however, I liked it there and would go there again.Automatisk oversat.

- Frank D.June 2016PositiveLocation and view of the terrace seatsNegativSanitary unclean and inexpedient. 1000 little things missing.the situation compensatesThe previous speaker has already said it all. I would just like to add that there are also problems with absolutely minor details such as hooks in the showers or lighting in the washroom. In the disposal room for the chemical toilet there is a tap with a push button but without a hose connection and... not above the basin. Absolutely useless. There is also a dog shower (an advantage). Again with a push button for the water tap which turns off after about 3 seconds. Showering the dog is only possible with 2 people. One person holds the dog, the 2nd person operates the tap. I managed it on my own. But that's a longer story. I think I was wetter than the dog. Apparently all the energy here is being used for new bungalows. The facilities seem to be top notch.Automatisk oversat.
- Tom M.July 2015PositiveGreat view, very nice locationNegativSanitary facilities, water taps, no 240 volts on the sockets only 190 voltsVery nicely located place with poor sanitary facilitiesHello campers, in the summer of 2015 (end of July beginning of August) we spent our summer vacation for 15 days in Vierville sur mer, France / Normandy at the Omaha Beach campsite. The site is beautifully situated and if you take one of the many front pitches facing the sea, you have a wonderful view... of the Omaha Beach bay. Unfortunately we only had a few days of really nice weather (around 25 degrees) but it was still a nice relaxing vacation. The campsite is very basic and the sanitary facilities are unfortunately no longer up to date. The showers are functional, but nice is different. The water temperature can't be adjusted, there is only one lever, so too hot for some, good or too cold for others. The toilets are not divided for men and women, which didn't bother me so much, but the individual cubicles are far too small, often a bit unclean and the ravages of time are gnawing at the entire sanitary building. The flushing facilities are also in need of an overhaul. It's a shame, as the site is in a very beautiful location. Unfortunately, the cleanliness leaves a lot to be desired. The paths are narrow, but with our large trailer they were still relatively easy to drive on. Unfortunately, the asphalt surface is very rough, which is not so nice for children. The pitches directly overlooking the sea are terraced and unfortunately very sloping. It is best to bring wheel chocks with larger vehicles in order to get level. The upper pitches are reasonably large and divided by high hedges. The few taps for water are in a poor, almost desolate condition. Everything is crumbling, moving and the drains are blocked. The electricity is sufficient, but only 190 volts are available at the power columns, which leads to breakdowns or very slow operation of some electrical appliances. Wifi is outrageously expensive, so it's best to order an international flat rate from your telephone provider. A separate, albeit very steep path leads directly to the sea. The small store on the campsite only offers the essentials and is relatively expensive. Baguettes have to be ordered in advance, but there is a small but very well-equipped store 1 km from the campsite, which was a lot cheaper. The history of the area seems to have stopped in 1944 (D-Day). One D-Day museum after another. Unfortunately, the culinary delights of France are virtually non-existent here. Many restaurants are simply bad. You can definitely relax if you like walking on the beach (at low tide) or collecting shells, for example. There is a lot to see historically from the time of the Second World War. All in all, the campsite is more of a transit site, which I think is a pity, but this is due to the modest sanitary facilities and perhaps, in my opinion, the lack of attention to detail. The price of the campsite is rather reasonable. Perhaps the owner should invest something here and adjust the price accordingly. Greetings TomAutomatisk oversat.
- Stefan D.July 2015PositiveProximity to the beach and the D-Day sites.NegativThe sanitary facilities could be renewed.Everything is ok.We received a very friendly welcome and got on well with our limited knowledge of French. Our pitch had a sea view and was freely selectable.Automatisk oversat.
- Dirk S.August 2014PositiveGood location, short but steep path to the sea.NegativUnfriendliness, sanitary constantly dirty!Ohohoh Omaha BeachUnfriendly reception. When choosing a pitch, the owners get stroppy after 20 minutes or have thrown out those looking for a pitch. Sanitary area constantly dirty, toilets too small, you bump your head because there is no legroom. Sinks were an imposition. Only boiling hot water! Only suitable for short transit.Automatisk oversat.
- Stefan N.July 2014PositiveLocationNegativCleanliness of the site, steep mountainsNever again / never everWe visited the campsite in July 2014 on our vacation tour. (www.wiese-mobil.de) It is a wonderfully located campsite. Short walk to the beach and the D-Day museum in the village. With a vehicle you can quickly visit the American or German military cemetery or get to the "Pointe du Hoc". Therefore 2 stars.... The management of the campsite is unfriendly and makes little effort. The sanitary facilities are dirty. Filling up with water costs €2 and the waste water runs over the path through the site. ATTENTION motorhome/motorhome drivers: electricity costs €5.50/night! ... was charged for us, although not ordered. Conclusion: I'm sorry, I can only recommend this site because of its location. I will personally NEVER go there again.Automatisk oversat.
- gabriella m.June 2014sadnessaccustomed to the well-equipped and spotlessly clean French campgrounds, this campground deeply disappointed us. Sunny pitches, sanitary facilities in absolutely insufficient numbers, non-existent showers with timed water in meager quantities, sinks without even a corner in which to put objects, the sinks... for the dishes perpetually dirty.......the place is beautiful, overlooking the omaha beach but otherwise....long distance from the village and services, market at unbelievable prices and managers bordering on rudeness. I recommend it exclusively to those who have an RV with private facilitiesAutomatisk oversat.

- Hr. H.July 2013Fantastic viewWe parked our large camper van right on the slope. Fantastic view, especially in the morning at 8 a.m. Pitch a little more expensive, but okay. Friendly staff. Washing machines available, unfortunately a bit old and slow. Swimming again only for the brave, cool and rough. Steep descent to the beach, so better not to forget anything at the top.Automatisk oversat.
- Jens F.May 2013We were only there a week ago and we liked it very much. Very friendly staff, the toilets were older but clean. The whole area was also very clean, but there was nothing going on at this time of year, we stood alone on the coast and enjoyed the great view of Omaha beach. Good base for sightseeing in the surrounding areaAutomatisk oversat.

- Peter B.June 2012We have been coming to the campsite since 1977 under 3 different owners. Very nice, we feel at home! Of course, not everything is perfect, but it's a campsite and not a luxury hotel. We've been to much worse ones!Automatisk oversat.
- Andreas E.June 2012A very nice place. We had a fantastic view over the whole bay. In June the site is very quiet and only 50% full. The sanitary facilities are simple but clean and serve their purpose. However, the toilets are probably not suitable for users over 1.90m, as they are very narrow. The operators were very... friendly and helpful. You could choose your pitch. We were only charged on departure, even though we had a reservation and left 2 days earlier. Conclusion: We would come again.Automatisk oversat.
