- Eifel E.July 2019PositiveUncomplicated registration and free choice of seatsNegativnone, it's going well here and I know it differently. There again and againMr. Schultz always nice to the guests. Highly recommended as a starting point for beautiful Ahr tours. The DB takes you back to Altenahr until late at night. By the way, bike transport is free of charge. We were there again as usual (2019) and can only recommend the place. For Alpine hiking enthusiasts, the Steineberghaus destination (511 m altitude difference) would be a tip from me.Automatisk oversat.
- Petra W.June 2019Nice place for a short tripWe spent two days here on our way home from vacation. The site is in the middle of a basin. The railroad runs right past the site and there is a busy road behind the Ahr. However, this hardly bothered us. Due to a public holiday and the associated long weekend, the site was full. Thanks to the markings,... you stand in nice rows and not criss-cross and everyone has enough space and distance. This is a really good solution. There is a bread roll service on the pitch and a camping restaurant. But that's about it. Unfortunately, there are no shops in Altenahr, but there are lovely wine taverns and beer gardens. You can go hiking here, the paths are well marked and signposted. Cyclists also get their money's worth here (but it's mountainous...). This is a really nice spot for a short stay!Automatisk oversat.
- Edgar H.September 2018PositiveClose to town Starting point for activitiesNegativShopping facilities are rare in Altenahr.Short vacation very pleasantWe were there for a long weekend. Ideal as a starting point for hiking and cycling. Located directly at the entrance to Altenahr. Train station about 1 km away. Hourly connection, so that you can easily plan a longer activity. The site is quiet, so relaxing. All facilities correspond to the normal rating.... Bread roll service on site. Other shopping facilities only in the neighboring villages, e.g. in Ahrbrück. Pitches are not parceled out; a long power cable is sometimes necessary. Well-kept site.Automatisk oversat.
- Anna B.October 2017Positive- Clean, well-managed campsite - Bread roll service even in the low season - close to the village - good starting point for hikesNegativ- shower costs 1 € - no shopping facilities in the surrounding area - place seems to be dying outNice place for a short stayWe wanted to go to a wine festival and chose Altenahr and this place. The owner sometimes comes across as a bit gruff, but is mostly friendly. The site is simple and very clean. Very clean sanitary facilities, small playground, restaurant and bread roll service on site. Altenahr can be reached quickly... on foot. The place is unfortunately not so attractive and seems to be dying out more and more (no more baker, butcher or supermarket). At the wine festival it was very crowded and the audience did not meet our expectations ;) It was a good party and we got to know very nice people from the village. The area is definitely nice for hiking and cycling. The red wine hiking trail starts in Altenahr. Recommended for a weekend stay. Rather unsuitable for us for a longer stay.Automatisk oversat.
- Rolf F.August 2017PositiveStarting point for hikes in the Ahr valley and a beautiful, clean, well-kept CP on the AhrNegativthere's not really anything else going onA well-kept campsite on the AhrIf you love hiking or cycling, you will find an ideal place to camp here. The campsite is only a 4-minute walk from Altenahr on the main road, the Ahr and the railroad connection. You can reach Kreuzberg in 15 minutes and Ahrbrück in 50 minutes. None of these are exciting places, but the hiking trails... there are very pleasant and easy to walk. The nearest supermarket is in Ahrbrück (a new supermarket is under construction in Altenahr, about 4 minutes from the CP at the old cable car). The train station in Altenahr is easily reached in 5 minutes, from Altenahr there is a train to Remhagen every hour. Now to the CP, as already mentioned, it is located on the direct railroad connection and the main road. If you take this into account when booking, you won't have a problem with noise pollution. Where there is a road and a railroad line, there is an increased noise level, we had no problems with this and it wasn't really loud at night either. The campsite is easily accessible via a small bridge in Altenburg, a district of Altenahr. The chapel, which can be seen from the main road, Altenahr in the direction of Ahrbrück, is a good indication that you have to cross the bridge in the direction of the campsite. The campsite is very clean and is run by a friendly family. The sanitary facilities are very clean and in good condition. In the men's area there are 5 showers (unfortunately still coin-operated) and 6 toilets and urinals. We visited the restaurant once and were satisfied with the service and the food. There is a children's playground with some equipment on the site. It should be noted that the permanent campers are on the left and the day campers on the right, close to the shore between a separating CP road. In our opinion, this layout is very well chosen because you have the feeling of having two separate campsites. There is a large meadow behind the campsite with a separate exit, which can also be used as a dog area. In our opinion, there is not really anything to do apart from hiking and cycling. There is a ruin in the village with a view of Altenahr. Many abandoned restaurants, closed grocery stores, butchers and other deserted stores give an idea that Altenahr has seen better times. The town consists mainly of hotels and a few restaurants that have survived. As well as walking, we often took the train to Mayschoß, Rech, Dernau, Walporzheim and Ahrweiler.Automatisk oversat.
- rainer k.May 2017Positiveclean friendly all goodNegativ1€ shower, straw here and there too far awayAgain and again with pleasurea nice place directly on the Ahr .bridge at the entrance no problem if you go far. sanitary clean, pitches flat, straw here and there a bit far away from the pitch, friendly "boss", 1 € to shower I find too expensive but shower clean. ideal for cycling great bike paths nearby. gladly againAutomatisk oversat.
- Familie G.August 2016Positive- very clean - situated in the beautiful Ahr valley - good connection also for cyclists/hikers by AhrtalbahnNegativ- quite noisy main road - noise from the Ahrtalbahn twice an hourNice short tripQuite simple but very well-kept campsite directly on the Ahr. Nice starting point for cycling tours or hikes, or to Bad Neuenahr.Automatisk oversat.
- Dirk L.May 2016PositiveWell-kept site with large meadow area, directly on the Ahr, walking paths directly adjacentNegativfor people sensitive to noise during the day - especially at the end of the week - the proximity to the streetFamily place directly on the AhrA small, somewhat hidden site directly on the Ahr, ideal for a short break from everyday life. The access road over a single-lane bridge is quite narrow and could cause a bit of a sweat for horse-drawn carriage drivers. The sanitary facilities in the main building are clean, well-maintained and as good... as new, which is how it should be. As is so often the case on the Ahr and Moselle, the location is between the railroad line and the road. A little noisy during the day, but bearable. At night it is quiet to very quiet - we were able to sleep very well. Registration and deregistration is easy, a very nice operator couple, always friendly with a nice word. For dog owners, there are lovely walking routes directly from the site. There are several worthwhile restaurants in the village itself, full at weekends, otherwise rather quiet. All in all, always suitable for a nice break.Automatisk oversat.
- Wolfgang S.October 2015PositiveFast administration, very friendly, clean, close to town. Great for hiking + cycling.NegativThe squirrels??????Fully satisfied, except for....the walnuts that should almost fall into your mouth. Either I was too late in the morning or the squirrels were quicker. I was there as a single with car and bike. Very well-kept place, check-in and check-out super fast and very friendly. Great for cycling and hiking. Straussenwirtschaften on the cycle... path (towards Ahrweiler) are highly recommended. Otherwise: The local "wine festival" has more the character of a huge bowling outing with a corresponding level. Who likes it? Conclusion: The CP is on my list of favorites.Automatisk oversat.

- Lars W.October 2014PositiveVery nicely situated place.NegativA wash house with cold water only. Walnut trees on the square.Nicely located site with average sanitary facilitiesThe site is beautifully situated in the Ahr valley. The reception was friendly and uncomplicated. The formalities on departure were also completed very quickly. During the day you can hear the traffic noise from the road and the Ahr valley railroad runs right by the site (2 trains per hour). At night,... however, it is quiet on the right-hand side of the site. There are no marked pitches and no waste water. There are a few walnut trees on the site. In the fall, one or two nuts can fall down. The sanitary facilities in the small "auxiliary building" on the right-hand side of the site are very basic, dated but clean. There is only cold water there. Hot showers in the main building cost extra. The sanitary facilities in the main building are much newer and nicer and always clean. There are no facilities for children. Sometimes the washing facilities were very crowded, so that waiting times had to be accepted. The bread rolls have to be ordered in advance, but the delivery didn't work for us once. The restaurant seemed to have more of a "chip shop" character, but we didn't use it. Altenahr was extremely busy at the beginning of October!Automatisk oversat.
- Josef S.September 2014PositiveLocation to the town and train stationNegativThe Ahrtalbahn, which passes directly by the campsite on average twice an hour during the day, is audible; but at night it is quiet!Located directly on the AhrBest place to explore the romantic Ahr valley. 5 min. walk to Altenahr. The Ahr Valley Railway runs from Altenahr to Remagen. Bicycles are taken along. So you can explore the whole valley from the square and visit each of the famous wine villages. Especially recommended in September/October during the... wine festivals. The site is idyllically situated directly on the Ahr. Wash house and facilities are well maintained. Very friendly operators. Camping restaurant directly on the site. International clientele.Automatisk oversat.
- Kor d.August 2014PositiveEasily accessible from Almelo NL Well cared for campsite Neat plumbing which is cleaned every day. Owner helpfulNegativMen's showers last way too short!!! Lack of hot water in 2nd toilet building. Stench in 2nd toilet building2015 for 4th season to Fam. Schulz. After 2 years of spending our 3 week vacation at this campground we will be returning to a seasonal site for the second season in 2015. Despite some lesser things such as the "old" toilet building that "smells" a bit, the care of the campsite is excellent and only with special days and in high season... very busy. The other times it is just lovely and quiet and we have a "beautiful garden" of which we don't even have to mow the lawn ourselves. If the restaurant is open then you can have a good meal. It could be open more often! Until early April I would say.Automatisk oversat.

- Siegfried W.September 2013Campsite actually in a nice location, but very noisy during the day. Sanitary facilities very basic to basic, but always clean. Restaurant apparently only open on WE. Electricity flat rate of €3.5 very expensive.Automatisk oversat.
- Rosemarie S.April 2013Empty button does not work Can I agree with all the other reviews When we were there, the hot showers only worked to a limited extent, i.e. the water was only lukewarm to cool.Something should be done about the heating system. It would have been nice if someone had refunded the shower fee.Automatisk oversat.
- Burkhard B.September 2011Quite a noisy place during the day, as it is practically right on the main road, separated only by a small river. ... Motorcyclists love the Ahr valley ...! Quiet at night. Unfortunately, the stream is not suitable for swimming. However, we did see anglers. The small store at the reception is very sparsely... equipped. However, the restaurant is good. The sanitary facilities are average. The proximity to Altenahr is very easy to reach on foot in 10 minutes. The cable car up the mountain with subsequent hiking possibilities is even closer. Conclusion: If you like hiking or want to spend a nice culinary weekend, you're in good hands here. If you're looking for peace and quiet, you've certainly come to the wrong place. All in all, ok for us (couple without children).Automatisk oversat.
