- Steve t.november 2024PositiveSize of the parking spacesNegativRestaurant and kiosk closed in winter. No bread roll service. Water connections at the pitches turned off as there is no frost protection with low flow. Just communicate better on the homepage. Sanitary facilities dirty and toilet paper always empty. Only one soap dispenser available for all washbasins.Comfort is differentUnfortunately, we were not at all satisfied with the campsite. The sanitary facilities were dirty, as were the showers. Despite some campers there were only 4 toilets and 3 showers.
There was only one soap dispenser for all washbasins. No infrastructure.
The price-performance ratio is poor.Automatisk oversat. - Frank F.august 2023PositiveIf you want peace and quiet, this is the right place, I can't understand the reviews about disturbing the peace at night. I can understand that the place is not supervised 24 hours a day. We have been coming here regularly for two years and have never encountered unfriendly staff. We always receive a very friendly welcome and are treated in a friendly manner. As it sounds into the forest, so it sounds out again. Cycling and hiking are very good here.NegativShowers could be a bit bigger and the bench in the shower could be better protected against splashing water. If all campers would behave themselves, there would certainly be more togetherness. But unfortunately there are always campers who only see each other, but you have that on all pitches.Beautiful placeFor us a good campsite, everything you need is available. The staff are always nice and friendly. But unfortunately there are always campers who don't appreciate it and just pull their boots through without consideration for others. Paper towels are only refilled once in the morning when cleaning, which is not enough on some days (New Year's Eve) and could be adjusted again.Automatisk oversat.
- hinerk m.august 2023PositiveProximity to the Ottermeer Course facilities basically OK. Proximity to the village of Wiesmoor Cleanliness of the sanitary facilities Proximity to the North Sea (but everyone has their own idea of distance)Negativ1 incompetent employee at reception, refusing to take any responsibility - as a representative of the CP operator. House rules seem to be a concept from another planet here. Hardly any help with disturbing noise No groundsman after 18.00 hrs. From then on, some campers let the "pig" out. Basically, the noise level here is too high 3 x disturbances of the worst kind in 10 days Shower partitions from Miniaturland. The cabin including towels/clothes get wet Hardly anyone drives at walking pace. It is driven like in the city Pitches are often under water when it rains That's why campers lay out thick plastic sheeting, even though it's not allowed (nobody checks) The Wi-Fi is terrible, although it is supposed to be upgraded Path lighting defective in places Motion detectors in the sanitary area in the evening/night - if you're doing your business, you're suddenly sitting in the floor shower Overall, the staff gave the impression of typical administrative staffWas once a beautiful placeI politely told the neighbors - 5 pitches in front of us - to be quieter at 11.45 pm, but they continued to party, drink and roar. This went on until 2am. We experienced the same throughout the day. Several hours of drinking and roaring
The basic camper rule,
conversations, radios, televisions, CD players... etc. to the volume of the tent
The operator has never heard anything about the basic camper rule of reducing the volume of conversations, radios, TVs, CD players etc. to the volume of the tent, regardless of the time of day, to avoid disturbing other guests.
On the contrary, here you can obviously make as much noise as you like - even during the night.
If you complain, you will receive the following reply from reception the next day: "you have to call the police or go to the mayor"
The next crack from this receptionist: "If you're looking for peace and quiet, you can't go to a campsite".
I have never encountered such audacity.
There is no such thing on any privately run campsite!
For us it was the last time camping at the Ottermeer.Automatisk oversat. - Monika M.august 2023PositiveThe site itself is beautifully situated by the lake.NegativQuiet from 11-6 pm is not observed. We politely pointed this out to our neighbors at midnight, but they continued to party, drink, bawl and play deafening, loud music. This went on until 3am. We reported this to reception the next morning and told them we were leaving. We were told that there would be no money back and that we could have called the police. Furthermore, there would be a note at the reception where you could supposedly reach a janitor. But who goes to reception at 3 o'clock at night? So if you want a nice camping vacation, stay away from this place! Similar reviews can also be found on the net!!! We should have looked beforehand.UnreasonableQuiet from 11-6 pm is not observed. - Bernd B.juni 2023PositiveLarge parking spacesNegativOpening hours of the reception only from 9.00h. Very late for the day of departure when the key for the rental pool has to be handed in. Kiosk only open from 8-11am. There is no longer a snack bar. The site is becoming less and less interesting. However, the booked pitch must be paid for 100% months in advance. A deposit would be ok, but not 100%.Unfortunately worse and worseUnfortunately, this space is no longer interesting. If at all, only during the week. The seasonal pitches are occupied from Friday to Sunday. Then the children come in droves and the parents party into the night.Automatisk oversat.
- Heike S.oktober 2022PositiveThe site is generously laid out and is an ideal starting point for excursions in the surrounding area.NegativDue to the late season, some things were no longer open.Any time again! We were given a large pitch and the ACSI Card was also accepted. The site staff were very friendly and helpful. The motorhome pitches were also very large and plentiful. The sanitary facilities were very well maintained. Unfortunately, the restaurant and the small store were closed at this time of year,... but there was a large shopping center in the village. The lido right next to the site also made a good impression and you could go for a good walk directly from the site.Automatisk oversat.
- Manfred K.august 2022PositivePrivate sanitary facilities available, dog-friendly, snack kiosk, well-maintained grounds.NegativNo off-leash dog area.Camping by the flowersVery good CP in the flower town of Wiesmoor in the middle of East Frisia. Super condition of the facility and sanitary,
We had private sanitary facilities that left nothing to be desired in terms of equipment and cleanliness.
Dog-friendly site, unfortunately no free-range meadow.Automatisk oversat. - Arno W.marts 2022PositiveClean sanitary facilities, generous spaceNegativW-LAN,Beautiful campsiteWe stayed at the campsite for a week at the end of March 22. Very well maintained campsite.
We will definitely be back.Automatisk oversat. - Peter B.maj 2021PositiveClean sanitary facilities, showers without coins, water and waste water at the pitchNegativNo advance information about the duration of the stay, reception staff sometimes unfriendlyStay must be paid in advanceFirst the positive. The sanitary facilities are large and adequate in our opinion. The cleanliness was fine during our stay. No extra costs for showering. Water and waste water directly at the pitch. Shopping facilities and location of the site have already been explained in the other reviews.
Now the... negative. When we arrived, there was the first surprise at reception. We had to pay for our planned stay in advance. We were not informed of this during the phone call a week before, nor was there anything about this practice in the confirmation email or on the site's own homepage. If we had known this in advance, we would not have considered this place. When we asked how they would proceed if we wanted or had to leave early, we were told that they had travel cancellation insurance for such cases. Excuse me? Which camper has such insurance? And even if they did, they don't pay if the weather is bad or you just don't like the place. We value flexibility and freedom, especially when camping.
We also couldn't see the separate accommodation for dog friends and the other group, even though we were specifically asked about this.
To sum up, another visit to this campsite is out of the question for us.Automatisk oversat. - Matthias P.maj 2021PositiveWe were able to rent a family pool, very nice! Huge playgrounds, nice layout with few thoroughfares, location within walking distance of Wiesmoor with restaurants and storesNegativSomewhat lovelessly designed store, selection okay, but perhaps something "more" could be made of it.Beautiful place, so defied the bad weather at Whitsun....A very suitable site for exploring East Frisia. The pitches are (very) large, easy to access and overgrown with grass. Electricity, water and waste water are sufficiently close to the pitches.
Sanitary buildings were always very clean, including the scullery and washing machine area.
The playground equipment... is as good as new and very varied.
Check-in is quick, barrier opens and closes via license plate recognition. For early arrivals, there is even the option of paying for electricity in front of the barrier.
Wiesmoor can be easily reached on foot in about 20 minutes via various small paths.
Wishes:
Hooks for jackets and a shoe rack are missing in the anteroom of the family bathroom.
The water pressure is impressive! However, it is so high that you can hardly adjust the taps properly.
Marking of the waste containers and a chance to lock the lids of the containers somehow.Automatisk oversat. - Andrea K.september 2020PositiveSanitary building, cleanliness, separate pitches for dog owners, quiet on the pitchNegativTaps at the pumps need an adapter!Great place, well maintained, top sanitary facilities. 5 stars!Very beautifully laid out and well-maintained site with a central, well-designed sanitary building, which was absolutely clean at all times! Masks were compulsory when entering and there were dispensers with disinfectant.
The ladies at reception are friendly, but the receptionist with the short hair... is very friendly and warm!
What I personally also liked about the site was that dog owners were "among themselves" and the pitches for most permanent campers almost looked like "normal" pitches and were well integrated into the overall picture.
The small store next to the reception offers fresh bread rolls in the morning, among other things, and there was no need to order in advance. The area is great for cycling. Jever, Aurich, Leer, etc. are between 20 and 27 km away. Up to the coast it is about 40 KM. The place is really very central.
The only thing I would have to criticize are the water taps at the "taps". They really need an adapter or similar. The water splashes in all directions.... Unfortunately, the reception staff didn't take my comments about this very seriously and my request to remedy the situation was not followed up. But the lady with the short hair wasn't on duty either... ;)Automatisk oversat. - Herbert J.august 2020PositiveLarge plots with water and waste water connections. Very clean sanitary facilities and well-kept grounds (it feels like there are always five gardeners on duty).NegativNo negative impressions for us. (apart from Corona)Very relaxed vacationWe were at the Ottermeer for two weeks at the beginning of September with camper friends. We each had a dog with us and therefore booked a pitch on the previously designated dog pitch.
The pitch was pleasantly large and everything went very smoothly with the dog neighbors. A leisurely walk with the dog around the Ottermeer takes about 1 hour.
The café/bistro halfway around is highly recommended
"Lüttje-Haven". We will definitely be back again.Automatisk oversat. - Ludger W.april 2019PositiveClean good location friendly staffNegativW-LanCampsite with lots of birch treesWe were there for the second time and had a nice rainy and stormy short vacation over Carnival 2019. very clean and well-kept campsite with 1 hour free W-Lan per day which also worked great. then over Easter birch pollen without end. Many campers were surprised and had trouble keeping their allergies... in check. Internet, i.e. W-Lan did not work at all. Pitch 189.190. Just as little SAT reception, so you had to do without, which should be with 5 stars, but all in all a good and clean campsite that you can recommend.Automatisk oversat.
- ludger w.marts 2019Positiveclean sanitary facilities nice pitches good for walkingNegativAllergy sufferers take note Birch trees everywhereSpacious pitches clean sanitary facilities nice staffHello We were there over carnival and had to break off prematurely after 3 days due to the weather (rain and storm), but had reserved immediately afterwards for Easter. arrived on Maundy Thursday in glorious weather, but did not think that the campsite is fully planted only with birch trees. So everyone... who had a birch pollen allergy had big problems (including me), unfortunately I had not paid attention to the birch trees during carnival, so it was not a relaxing vacation for me, too bad, but outside the flowering season I can recommend the place well.Automatisk oversat.
- Thul H.marts 2019PositiveLarge pitches, clean sanitary facilitiesNegativUnfortunately restaurant and store not open as advertisedLarge pitches with electricity, water, waste waterWe were on the site from March 1 to March 9. It is located next to the Ottermeer and about 1.5 km from the center. The reception was manned in the morning. The store and restaurant were still closed, so there were no bread rolls to buy on site, although it is advertised as open from March 1st. Shopping... possible in the village about 2.5 km from the campsite, several stores. Also some restaurants in the village. Especially recommended but restaurant Bender in Upschört about 10 km away. Hiking and cycling very nice, we were able to relax very nicely, will definitely visit the place againAutomatisk oversat.
- Andreas W.august 2018Positivebeautiful location - good shopping facilitiesNegativFamily/children unfriendlinessit was once a good place ... butWe (WW, 4 children, 2 dogs) have now been on the site for 8 years in a row. Now we've had enough! First the positives: wide driveway - good access to the (not always) large pitches - friendly staff at reception - sufficient sanitary facilities - beautiful bathing lake with sandy beach - the town center... with good shopping facilities (also within easy walking distance) Negatives: rainwater no longer drains well on the pitches. The drainage urgently needs to be flushed or renewed - The playground urgently needs to be renewed. The wood is splintering - necessary repair work is only carried out with a time delay - poor/insufficient maintenance of the green areas - some of the garbage containers are not emptied promptly. Then it stinks! - The sanitary facilities are inadequately cleaned during busy periods (mold has proliferated in recent years) - The site manager is not always reachable - Young people and children are treated rudely and insulted by the janitor - e.g. the expression "shit! Young people - that's no way to treat guests!!! - as there are now an extremely large number of pensioners and childless couples visiting the site in the high season, there are often conflicts between this group of people and children/young people - the site management tends to side with the pensioners etc. - You no longer get the impression that families with children are welcome - that used to be different - furthermore, the "dog area" is too busy with seasonal campers who behave like permanent campers (boss) - dogs of (mainly) seasonal campers lie unleashed on the pitches and sometimes do their business with the neighbors, which the janitor is also aware of. The restaurant (Glashaus) cannot be reached with dogs. All in all, the place is unfortunately getting worse and worse. A change of janitor and site manager would perhaps do it some good! Update in August 2018: New site management (administration) - seems to be very committed and is already trying to change things for the better, especially for young people - however, this seems to be a difficult undertaking if you look at the other site staff (site maintenance) - the janitor can hardly be surpassed in terms of unfriendliness, especially towards children and young people - let's see what happens ....Automatisk oversat.
- Roland P.juli 2018Our impressionsBusinesslike handling of the registration formalities at reception. Very attractive and well-kept site with all the necessary and many desirable facilities. Fresh water, electricity and waste water connections available at many pitches. We always found the modern sanitary facilities to be clean and in... good working order. Basic food supply and snack bar/bistro on the site. Numerous shopping opportunities, including discount grocery stores, in the pretty nearby town of Wiesmoor. The campsite is mostly quiet at night. During the day until late in the evening there was occasional noise disturbance due to musical performances. The campsite is divided into areas for families with children, for dog lovers and for tourists looking for peace and quiet.Automatisk oversat.
- Rainer S.august 2017PositiveEasily accessible campsiteNegativGood shopping facilities approx. 1.5 km away. You are dependent on a car or bicycle. You can get small things on the square.Nice campsite close to the city in a beautiful landscapeIt is a beautifully landscaped place on the Ottermeer where you can swim well in summer (bathing establishment) but you should not use a light towel to dry off (moor lake).Automatisk oversat.

From us 5 starsNegativNoneClass Campsite!!!!This was the third time we have been there with our 6 year old daughter and we are very satisfied. We have also visited other places but we like the Ottermeer the best. Our daughter said now when we went to the campsite "Mommy, it's like coming home a bit here. The children's entertainment is really... great - you don't find that everywhere. It's just great for parents and children. The rest of the resort is also just great and the staff are really very, very nice. We come back every year!!!!Automatisk oversat.
