Nice place, short distance to the highway, in the immediate vicinity of the Wertheim outlet, almost all pitches with a view of the Main, shower / WC clean, shower costs € 0.50 - duration is sufficient. Small restaurant on site, good price/performance ratio. WLAN unfortunately only at the reception or... restaurant (but there fast and stable) Shower WC on the 1st floor (due to flood protection!). Bicycle path directly from the pitch, gas station on the way to the highway. Friendly reception. We were satisfied!

WC/shower only accessible via stairs to the upper floor. Not suitable for disabled people. Pitches mostly muddy and even dangerous in the rain. Suspicious self-made power supply points, wooden beams plugged into car rims/with tires, wobbly construction, plugs partly repaired with silicone, dangerous, especially in the rain.

We arrived here for a one-night stopover, as did some other guests.
First of all, we received a friendly welcome from a nice receptionist.
The meadow/plot was completely muddy in the rain, almost impassable.
Toilet/shower area only accessible via a high external staircase, difficult for elderly or disabled... people.
Then at 11.00 pm there was a complete power failure for us transit campers.
After checking and ruling out fuse problems with us and by us campers, we went up to reception.
The first emergency number was unavailable, the second was answered by the owner, Mr. S. Schmidt, we explained the problem and pointed out that we had all the frozen food in the freezer compartment.
He replies unpleasantly, almost cheekily, that he can't get out 30km for something like that, then asks what we paid him today and that no service would be possible on his part.
He told us to drive to France or Spain, where it would cost twice as much and then the service might be included.
Besides, he won't change a 50 amp fuse in the rain.
The next morning, my mother wants to pick up the bread rolls she ordered and he hands them to her loose.
She asks for a bag because she has our dog with her, he just tells her to read the small print.
Really cheeky and unfriendly.
Just like our neighbors, we won't be using this place again.

The campsite is very clean and the staff very friendly and courteous. The campsite is close to the highway but you don't notice much. We stayed at the campsite for 15 days and didn't regret a single day.

The only thing that wasn't quite so good was that you could only get to the WC and showers in the main building could only be reached by stairs.

Friendly and polite reception, good instructions, beautiful meadow pitches on the Main / near the Main, very well maintained. Near electricity and water connections. Sanitary facilities tiptop, clean, checks during the day (showers: € 0.50 for 3 minutes, water is also sufficient for washing hair). Entrance/exit... (during opening hours) via number plate recognition. Small store, bread roll service. Gastro "Försterklause": good menu, also delicious local beer (Distelhäuser), large portions, reasonable prices, friendly service. - Good starting point to Wertheim and Tauber Valley, to the Spessart ... or to Würzburg. Wertheim Village almost within walking distance.

We stayed at the campsite for a weekend. There is a bread roll service and a restaurant on site. The sanitary facilities are clean. What is a bit annoying is the highway nearby. The site is great for boat owners with its own slipway

We drove to the site to spend the night in transit. Very nice contact by phone and email. Late arrival was always possible until 9 pm, after that possibly by arrangement.

Close to the highway without really hearing it.
Arrival at the "transit pitches" was very uncomplicated,... the pitches were level and large enough even for long caravans, in some cases it was also possible to stand coupled up. We had free choice of pitch twice. Sanitary a bit dated, but absolutely ok and very clean. Simple, but good, restaurant and small store on site. ACSI Card is recognized.
Dog-friendly surroundings.
Town of Wertheim easy to reach by bike. Outlet center, for those who like it, also quickly accessible.

Conclusion: for us a great transit campsite where you can spend a few days longer

Evaluation of a traveler
We were only in the area for transients for one night. The separate section is ideal for this. Easy to enter, choose a pitch, sign in, pay and leave at any time. Ideal!
The restaurant on the site offers something of good quality for everyone.
The disadvantage is that the sanitary facilities can only... be reached via a staircase on the 1st floor. Not very ideal for people with walking difficulties. However, this is due to the direct location on the Main, as the site is in the flood zone.
Always recommended for a stopover on a journey.

As on every campsite, there are always complainers and campers who aren't really campers! But that's not because of the site but because of the people.
Rating Camping Bettingen
We have been visiting this campsite regularly for 29 years now.
We always visit on Ascension Day with our children and friends in a group of up to 30 people.
Since the Schmid family took over the campsite, considerable investments have been made every year.
New electrics on the site, new sanitary facilities,... two new high-quality children's playgrounds, etc.
I am sometimes surprised by some of the reviews regarding cleanliness, noise and price.
You can certainly hear the highway at the back of the pitches, but it's nowhere near as loud as some people say.
The toilets and sanitary facilities are cleaned several times a day!
Regarding the price, I can only say that the people who complain about the price have probably never compared prices, because from my point of view, the price is absolutely ok.
Finally, I would like to mention that the entire staff is always very friendly and helpful!

Only cash payment possible, should be told on arrival. The disposal area for gray water is quite narrow. Few shady spots.
Nice CP for a short vacation
We stayed at the campsite over the weekend. Very friendly reception at check-in. The pitch is mostly flat. Small selection of food and chilled drinks can be bought at reception. The nearest supermarket is probably a few kilometers away. The restaurant on site is recommended. We ate there twice on the... WE. We were very satisfied both times. We will gladly return here for a weekend or extended weekend. Oh yes, the A3 is within sight and earshot, but it didn't bother us too much.

Beautifully landscaped square near the highway
We got a place right after the reopening on Christmas Eve. AHA rules are strictly adhered to and enforced. We stood on the meadow for short-term campers, which is very well maintained. However, water points are rare. However, there is sufficient power supply.
The site is very quiet, you can hardly hear... the highway. However, there is only one central sanitary building with a sink and disposal point for chemical toilets. There are enough showers and they cost 50ct per 3 minutes. Bread roll service at the reception.

Very beautifully situated quiet campsite on the Main
After a thorough inspection, we decided on a pitch on the transit campsite.
Lots of space, (very Corona compliant) lots of peace and quiet, lots of nature and an exciting program :-)
In the afternoon new travelers arrived with caravans or W-Mobiles, in the morning most of them left again. Better than... TV. There's always something to watch :-)
We went swimming directly in the Main. We rented a canoe in Wertheim and paddled down the Main. An absolute recommendation!
There are great little towns and villages to explore by bike. The cycle paths are really good. (I come from DUI, so I'm envious)
The operators are super friendly and helpful.
The restaurant has a great selection for hungry mouths.
Cyclists passing through can always find a place to pitch their tent.
Boat lovers can launch their boat.
We felt very comfortable and will definitely be back.

A place on the Main
Beautifully situated on the Main. A view of the water even from the 2nd row. Very nice and helpful operators, as well as friendly staff in the restaurant.
The sanitary facilities are only accessible via a long flight of stairs and are therefore not recommended for disabled/elderly people.
All in all, a very nice place.

The place is familiar. The owners, the Schmid brothers, are very sociable and can cope with all daily situations. The sanitary facilities / showers are very good and always clean. There is a small restaurant. We have been there at least 16 times. 👍🏻

Good campsite directly on the Main.
We regularly stop at this site for an overnight stay. The sanitary facilities are totally in order. Partly renovated too. The ACSI card was accepted. Registration is quick and uncomplicated. In summer there is a covered outdoor restaurant in the courtyard. The beer garden was still open in September.... The food is okay, but the price is very high. The schnitzels are not small and you have to order salad separately. Then you're looking at €15 for a schnitzel, chips and salad. These are the prices of top restaurants. You can eat better and cheaper in many restaurants in the city. If you just want to spend the night, you can leave your vehicle hitched up. The campsite also has a bread delivery service and the bread rolls are very good. Bring your own bread bag! Wertheim has a very beautiful old town. The large outlet center and the huge Expo Camp camping market are always worth a visit. We will always come back.

We stayed there for a few nights in May. We received a friendly welcome at check-in and were then free to choose a pitch. There are hardly any pitches, the majority of the site consists of grass. We were very lucky to get one of the coveted pitches right on the banks of the Main, where there was enough... space for a caravan, awning/awning and car. Electricity and water are not far away and satellite reception was no problem. The sanitary facilities in the main building are modern and were always clean, but they are on the first floor and are difficult to reach for wheelchair users and people with walking aids. The catering on site is great, you can eat and drink well and cheaply here. If you can get a seat, because the area was always well frequented. But now to the points of criticism, which unfortunately make the site unattractive for a longer stay: As the site is very close to the highway and is easily accessible from there, it is mainly frequented by guests passing through, which causes a lot of hectic and unrest on the entire site. Between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m., many campers dismantle and leave, and the site is suddenly only a quarter full at lunchtime. And right on time from 15:00 after the end of the midday rest, the large arrival column starts, which lasts until the evening hours. Guests who want to stay a few days longer have no time to rest and relax. There is a special area for transit guests right at the start (you drive straight past it on arrival), but this was not used. Instead, the transit guests simply parked themselves on the large meadows of the main area, criss-crossing each other, sometimes really close together and, in the case of caravans, the towing vehicle was not even uncoupled. That's not serious camping. It would be nice if the site operator would consistently direct these transit guests to the transit area, then it would be a lot quieter in the main area. I also have to criticize the access road to the campsite. We arrived during the lunch break and had to stand outside the barrier for about 30 minutes. There were already two other teams in front of us who also wanted to arrive. We were able to get behind them, but all the other caravans and motorhomes behind us blocked the access road, which was no longer wide enough. Unfortunately, this also prevented the people who wanted to leave the site from 15:00 from having to stop their journey there because they could no longer get past the caravans arriving behind us. That was very annoying. The highway bridge was mentioned in many reviews. We had a pitch on the bank near the main house, where the noise of the highway could be heard more or less depending on the wind direction. There was one night when we felt like we were right next to a highway service area, but that was an exception. Apart from that one night, we never felt sleep deprived. Most of the noise came from the passing guests arriving and departing. If we go to this site again, it will only be for one night. However, we know of another campsite in the region which we would probably choose.

The place is as described, pitches directly on the Main on a beautiful meadow. Clean, newly renovated sanitary facilities, unfortunately only accessible via a steep staircase. We did not see the specified wheelchair-accessible sanitary facilities. Very friendly hosts, good restaurant with delicious home... cooking. Very quiet location despite the proximity to the A3. Special parking spaces for travelers who can arrive or depart at a separate entrance even outside opening hours. Small kiosk with bread roll service on site.

Ideally located as a transit point, but nothing more.
The site is ideally located near the highway exit and only 1 km from the local service area with gas station and Burger King. Free choice of pitches and a large overnight meadow where you can spend the night coupled up. Wild parking can lead to being parked up. Many older Dutch people in particular arrive... in the evening and recklessly block everything up. No parcelling. From there, walk 200 meters through the campsite to the reception to register. Arrival possible until 21.00 hrs. You can't hear the highway there, but you can hear it on the campsite in the direction of the highway bridge. You can leave there around the clock, on the CP the barrier is only opened at 8.00 am. But there are also pitches right on the banks of the Main for boat watching. Sanitary facilities are elevated via stairs, flood-proof, showers with 50 cent coins, coin-operated machine in the corridor not in the shower. Chemical toilet and camper van disposal are at ground level. (BUT: Closed during the meal times of the local beer garden). Bread rolls can be ordered in advance. In summer, beer garden with home-style food, out of season in the local restaurant on site. Small marina on site. Good walking opportunities, fields all around. Tourist tax also for a few hours' stay. Nearby is the Expocamp (large caravan and motorhome dealer) with Moverashop and an outlet center (5 minutes drive) Attention: DOGS PROHIBITED! In both stores / centers! Conclusion: An ideal place to stay overnight, I wouldn't go on vacation there, it's too noisy and there's too much hustle and bustle from constantly arriving and departing transit guests like us.
