- Matthias B.August 2024PositiveVery nice place with many pitches directly on the Werra. Very friendly operator, pleasant atmosphere.Negativ#Great place on the WerraWe spent 2 weeks on the site in summer 24 and really enjoyed it.
The operator probably changed 2 years ago and has implemented his unconventional solutions for many things. The reception, for example, is a discarded bus. There are also lots of toys for the younger children to play with. There is a large... sandpit and a barbecue/fire pit that can be used.
There was a very pleasant, friendly and open atmosphere on the site.
There is a lot to discover in the surrounding area. In the green belt you can enjoy quite untouched nature or walk in the footsteps of the former border (border museum etc.)
Only the gastronomic offer is a bit thin according to the settlement. You have to plan this or go to the somewhat larger towns in the surrounding area.Automatisk oversat. - Achim W.July 2022PositiveNo permanent campsites, located directly on the Werra. Camping as it used to be!NegativSanitary facilities a little too small when the site is fully booked.Nature campsiteSmall campsite with pitches located directly on the Werra (but not all pitches, of course, you have to be lucky to get a pitch!) There is also the possibility to change pitches on site at short notice, even if it is in the summertime.
We've been here 4 years in a row now and we've always loved it, especially... the children.
We would come again.
What you should know, however, from 01.08.22 is a new tenant on the place, how it behaves further, must show?Automatisk oversat. - Klaus K.July 2022PositiveNo permanent campers Pitches large enough Shade through large trees in the area of the Werraufer, peace and quietNegativParking lot Shower facilities are in urgent need of renovation There is a lack of seating in the bike and canoe camper areaNature campsiteSuitable for camping freaks and nature lovers.
Structure parking lots and renovate showers and washing areas.Automatisk oversat. - Sajo M.September 2020PositiveGreat location directly on the Werra, partly with shady trees Directly on the Werra cycle path Restaurant in the neighborhood Very quiet locationNegativNothingRelaxed days on the WerraAfter booking in advance, we were given a wonderful pitch right on the Werra. There is no usual reception, but a self-check-in, payment is made in the mailbox or online. We were welcomed with a nice sign on the pitch. The sanitary facilities are basic but very clean. We didn't want for anything - but we would have liked to meet the obviously relaxed, friendly operators in person.
We'd love to come back!Automatisk oversat. - Ulrike W.June 2020PositiveThe pitch directly on the Werra was great.NegativNo possibility to buy bread rolls or anything similar. You have to provide for yourself. Fortunately, the nearest supermarket is not that far away.Paddle weekendWe really liked the facilities at the campsite, the quiet location and the friendliness of the staff. We would like to come back again this year as soon as it is possible under Corona.Automatisk oversat.
- F W.June 2020PositiveGood connections Peace and quiet Management CleanlinessNegativThere is really nothing to complain about.Wonderful natural placeWe had two fantastic weeks on this wonderful, natural site. The old Eriba stood under old ash and chestnut trees right next to the beautiful Werra. In the evenings we sat around the campfire by the river, there are practically no mosquitoes there.
The couple who run the site in Amsterdam are friendly,... speak great English and German and are always busy on the site and therefore approachable. The infrastructure is excellent, there are two places to eat directly in Altenburschla and supermarkets and all kinds of shops in the neighboring towns of Treffurt (Thuringia) and Wanfried (Hesse). Next door you can play mini-golf and pit-pat and sit in a very nice garden café. The atmosphere on the site is friendly and respectful, with agreements rather than rules. Which of course suits our idea of camping very well.
Waste is separated, there is a shower that is in no way inferior to the one at home and five more for the "real campers". We didn't have to use them, the always clean "luxury shower" was usually free and was constantly cleaned. The site has a public jetty for canoes/kayaks.
The beauty of the Werra valley itself really blew me away, I hadn't expected that. A dream come true for hikers and cyclists. I can only recommend the tips on camping-altenburschla.eu.
It was wonderful. We will be back.Automatisk oversat. - Thorsten L.June 2018PositivePeace and locationNegativNo bakery / store (approx. 5 km away)Super small place right on the water! - Thilo G.August 2017PositivePeace, nature, friendliness, great for a vacation with a dogNegativSomewhat too small wash house ... Otherwise there is noneCamping as it used to beWe have just spent a week at the campsite. We received a very friendly welcome and felt very comfortable on the well-kept site. Our dog was very welcome and for a quick dog walk you can quickly get from the site to the Feldmark. Camping as I remember it from my childhood days without a lot of frills... However, the wash house could do with a little overhaul ... We would love to come back ....Automatisk oversat.

- Miriam H.May 2017Very nice campsite with a very nice host. The campsite is in a great location right on the Werra, so we were able to get straight in with our canoe. The surroundings are nice and quiet and the host is very nice. The sanitary facilities are also ok.Automatisk oversat.

- Peter G.July 2014Great campingWe were on the site in July 2013 and 2014, very nice operator, uncomplicated interaction, basically you can experience camping in its original form here, i.e. no TV in the evening but in the middle of the site you come together and have a nice evening around a campfire, for example. Surroundings of the campsite: ideal for walks with the dog, good food in the center of the village, 300 m away.Automatisk oversat.

- Willem H.October 2012Small quiet campground is very idyllically situated on the Werra River. Excellent walking/cycling area with a rich history due to the former Iron Curtain and many half-timbered houses. Landing stage for canoeists at the campsite. In October unique images of the crane migration. Dutch owner is very hospitable... (also for the dog) and helpful. Baker comes by every morning with delicious bread and pastries. Highly recommended for the peace seeker, who loves simplicity.Automatisk oversat.
- Kieler S.July 2012The campsite is "small but nice". Since 03/2012, the site has been managed by a new operator (NL). The site has been lovingly redesigned and maintained. The sanitary facilities are taken over from the previous owner, not new, but very clean. Extensions to the sanitary facilities are planned. Arrival... and departure is uncomplicated but correct. Those who love peace and quiet are in good hands on the site. It is located directly on the Werra and surrounded by the mountain landscape. Highly recommended for hikers, cyclists and canoeists. There is a canoe landing stage, pitches with electricity for motorhomes, camper vans, tents and a camper van for hire. Many thanks for the friendly welcome, we would love to come back and bring friends.Automatisk oversat.
