The surrounding area is ideal for hiking and there is Bavarian cuisine with a brewery in the village. There is a nice fireplace to spend a cozy evening together. Very uncomplicated arrival (around the clock - just fill out the registration form on the terrace). The operators are very friendly.NegativThere are no real negative points. There are only short waiting times at the sanitary facilities due to the corona restrictions.Very nice and familiar campsite in the countrysideThis small, cozy campsite with lots of greenery and water is tucked away where you wouldn't expect it.
The site is well maintained and clean.
The uncomplicated arrival with self-registration was particularly pleasing.
You can tell that the new operators are really trying hard and take everything to heart.

Werner K.juli 2018PositiveBeautifully situated, relatively quiet, large pitches with or without shade on well-kept lawns, good restaurant, reasonably priced in highs.NegativThere were no obvious disadvantages for us.A small, beautiful and quiet campsite.Stay from 22.07. to 29.07.2018 A nice little campsite with a great and well-kept lawn. Lunch break from 12:00-14:00. Our pitch on the peninsula next to the river Weißer Regen was very large. Electricity was directly at the pitch. The tapping point for fresh water was approx. 50 m away, the disposal point... for chemical toilets and waste water was also approx. 50 m away. The "Hexnheisl" restaurant is in the middle of the pitch. You can also get your bread rolls for breakfast there, which you have to order the evening before. Here you can eat well, sufficiently and cheaply. The sanitary facilities were two separate cabins, one for men and one for women, and simply designed. Showers were big enough, but without splash guards, and there were shelves. Everything worked perfectly except for a calcified shower head that sprayed in all directions. The shower cubicles could do with some minor repairs. Toilets and washing facilities were always clean. Whether the number of sanitary facilities and the dishwashing system are sufficient when the place is full, we dare to doubt. The staff were very friendly, the manager a bit grumpy. The price was also okay, we paid €26 per night, 2 adults, one child aged 7 and caravan with electricity. Great proximity to the restaurant and playground. Food and breakfast 1ANegativI can't think of anythingGreat weekendWe spontaneously stayed at the campsite for a weekend. We never regretted our decision to pitch our tent here. We were warmly welcomed and enjoyed the pitch by the water. The food was great too. Our breakfast today on departure was very, very plentiful and we didn't want for anything. Our children, 4... and 5, played catch with the flashlight in the evening and didn't want to go to bed. The playground within sight of the restaurant is also great for the kids. The showers are perfectly fine from our point of view. Water comes out of the wall, as expected ;-) We'll definitely be back again. Hiking, cycling, a quick trip into town or a meal at the Hexn`heis`l on the square. A tip: the Munich-style schnitzel with horseradish breading, super tasty, freshly battered and then in the pan with... fried potatoes and salad, but everything else is good too. Or just to have a delicious wheat beer in the evening. You quickly strike up a conversation with the campsite staff and feel that you are in good hands. If you're looking for peace and quiet and closeness to nature, you've come to the right place. The site is a 10-minute walk from the village, in a very idyllic location by a small river. The pitches are generously sized, on a very well-kept lawn. There are a few permanent campers, but it's nice... to chat with them. The sanitary area is kept clean and the whole site looks very well maintained. The owners make every effort to ensure that guests feel comfortable. We chose it based on the description on the homepage and the description in Camping.info. 1. sanitary facilities: They are not new, as stated on the homepage, but probably a few years old. The cleanliness also leaves something to be... desired. I had the impression that they were not cleaned every day, as the washbasins, of which there are only two large ones and one small one, were not always clean. There were also cobwebs in the toilets all week without being cleaned. So only "superficial" cleaning. 2. quiet: It was quiet in the morning and afternoon. Except for our last evening, however, the noise in the restaurant always started at around 6pm. We had been allocated the seat directly in front of the Hexenheisl (yes, you can't choose your own seat), where it is the loudest. We wouldn't have been bothered at all by normal conversation coming from the restaurant until 10pm. However, it was the case that the laughing and slurring of words only ended between 11.00 pm and 1.00 am. We couldn't complain to the campsite operators as they were always involved in the drunken conversations. As a result, they did not point out the need to keep a quiet night. 3rd location: The campsite is in a good location for excursions. Also for evening walks into the city center (about 1000m away). However, the name Flussfreibad is misleading. There is a small river running past the site, which you can also swim in. But it is not a public outdoor pool. Whitsun is in Bad Kötzting exception state there is no night rest (Whitsun ride and folk festival).
The toilets are unfortunately no longer new but they are cleaned twice a day.

Unfortunately it is noisy in the restaurant... because the smokers have to go outside and why didn't they try to talk during the day?

You won't find the pitches on the island by the river twice. The site is not overcrowded and everyone will find a spot. Great restaurant, cheap and good. Everything very clean and well-kept, beautiful floral decorations, sanitary facilities only 2 showers per gender, one shower hose defective, without splash protection and without storage... space for clothes. Close to the town, yet absolutely quiet, Kötzting is now a pearl in the Bavarian Forest, the Zellertal is a gem, Arnbruck with the glass village, the spa gardens an idyll, cycling along the Regen.... But there are also downsides:... The sanitary facilities are too small and too basic for the size of the site, but at least they are relatively new and clean. The only real point of criticism is the paths after heavy rain - not really passable for several days. They would simply have to be resurfaced every year.
