- Klaas K.July 2018PositivePeace and quiet Hiking trails (not just Hadrian's Wall) from the site The proximity to Newcastle because of the crossing to NL (journey time approx. one hour)Great place at Hadrian's WallThe campsite exceeded our expectations. We had chosen the campsite because we wanted to see Hadrian's Wall and we wanted to spend the night near Newcastle, from where our ferry went back. Both of these things were possible. But we found a quiet, very well-kept site with extremely friendly and helpful... operators. We walked along the embankment from the campsite. The site itself is extremely quiet, with only sheep to be heard. There are also nice pitches for tents, but overall there is little shade on the site. You can also walk to Haltwhistle, which I think is two miles (10 minutes by car, we were told). But we were there for too short a time to try it. The same applies to the English breakfast that you can order on site. But we'll definitely try it next time, because we're determined to come back again.Automatisk oversat.
- Gabriel P.July 2014PositiveHistory and cultureNegativVery remote, no shopping facilities. For those interested in historyLovely site £24 for 2 adults and a 14 year old child. Small pond with ducks and geese, sanitary facilities clean. They organize trips to the many Roman museums and excavations. We used it coming from Scotland as a stopover on the way home.Automatisk oversat.
- Christel M.September 2013PositiveNice place with good sanitary facilitiesNegativThe journey is a bit of an adventureNice place to spend the nightWe used this place as an overnight stop on the way to the ferry. Unfortunately, the signposting was quite modest to non-existent (perhaps due to the roadworks at the time), so after taking a few wrong turns we ended up on a totally steep approach. And that with a trailer! We found out afterwards that... there was an easier route without roadworks. It was quite annoying. But the place is super beautiful and close to Hadrian's Wall, so it's nice for hiking.Automatisk oversat.
- Henryk K.June 2013Located near Hadrian's Bulwark (2 km), in a hilly area. Parcels on different levels, sheltered from the wind by trees with bushes. Possibility of hiking and biking. Near Vindolanda.Automatisk oversat.
- Juergen F.June 2012Very nice, family-run place about 1km from Hadrian's Wall. You can order an original "English Breakfast" for breakfast, which is freshly prepared. The site is terraced and wonderfully situated. The nearby village of Haltwhisle has supermarkets and pubs.Automatisk oversat.
