- Thomas B.October 2024PositiveReally great place decoration, I have never experienced it like this before. Perfect car-free connection to Weimar via the Ilm Valley cycle path.NegativThe showers.Very stylish, well located, a tad too expensiveWe chose this place because we wanted to spend a few days discovering Weimar. It is ideally located for this, and you can be in the middle of the city in around 30 minutes by e-bike via the adjacent Ilm Valley cycle path. The "site decoration" is really remarkable - I've never seen anything like it,... probably something to do with the operator's former life at the theater. The pitches were okay, but a bit muddy after a long period of rain. As for the sanitary facilities, the toilets and washbasins were first class, but unfortunately the showers were not - but that should change soon. The price shown here (28 euros) is unfortunately no longer correct, we paid 33 euros. We also had to pay for electricity (0.90 Ct/kWh) and shower (1 Euro/3 minutes). We could get over the fact that there was no longer any service (bread rolls, drinks etc.) on the pitch in mid-October.Automatisk oversat.
- Julia F.August 2024PositiveEverything 🤗NegativNothingWe always enjoy coming back🤗This camping weekend is also one of our highlights in 2024.
As every year in summer, camping at Marco's cozy, hospitable campsite, which is run with a lot of love and passion, was not to be missed, and it was again an experience.nothing is missing.the hospitable "men's restaurant" always invites you... to have a cool drink, where you can sit longer in the evening.
The sanitary facilities and the "wash-up bar" are originally designed and always clean.
Such an atmosphere makes you want to extend your stay.
There is a sign on the square that reads:
"We are guests at the hotel,
here we are at home. "
And that best expresses the campsite's motto.
We like to come back again and again
again 🤗Automatisk oversat. - Axel F.August 2024PositiveNice operator Nice location Close to WeimarNegativactually nothing! somewhat sporadic 🚿showersLovingly designed squareStayed at this lovingly designed place for 3 nights while passing through the Bavarian Forest. Very nice operator, incredibly tasty rye rolls. You can go on wonderful bike tours and hike well. You shouldn't necessarily buy wine at the campsite, it's delicious but €14 is also a hefty price.Automatisk oversat.
- Gabriele K.June 2024PositiveSmall, quiet place really surrounded by greenery. Very individual and lovingly designed. Very friendly and helpful. Pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. Good starting point to visit Weimar, Erfurt, Jena or the beautiful castles and parks in the area. Cycling with e-bikes is great, otherwise you need to be fit in the hilly landscape. The men's restaurant serves typical Thuringian dishes.NegativMaybe that many campers are just passing through because of the proximity to the highway. Far too good for just one night.Vacation idyllExceptional campsite, beautiful, unusual design, e.g. pitch numbers are on old milk churns.
Quiet, you can hear lots of birdsong in the morning. Beautifully designed toilet block. (New shower building in progress.)
Pleasant relaxed atmosphere, very friendly owner and staff

- Iris T.April 2024PositiveQuiet location on the edge of the forest. Here you can see the deer jumping across the fields at sunrise and you are lovingly awakened by the twittering of birds. During the day you can hike as far as Weimar. There is always something good to eat in the evening and a freshly tapped beer. The sanitary facilities are clean.NegativNoneGreen, quiet, familiar and friendly 😊We always like to come back to the campsite ⛺ to recover from the madness of this world....Automatisk oversat.
- Erik L.October 2023Positiveuncomplicated reservation, great styling concept, nice contact, beautiful pitches, very quiet location, good price-performance ratioNegativUnfortunately, the restaurant was closed; the paths to the showers and disposal were sometimes quite long; more hedges would be desirable to delimit the pitches, the layout was not immediately clearGreat campsiteA great campsite with a very nice design concept and clean sanitary facilities. We will definitely be back for a longer stay.Automatisk oversat.
- Simona L.May 2023PositiveThe location of the campsite is a gift, right in the middle of the countryside, right next to the forest. Hikes through the neighboring forest and bike rides to Weimar are possible.Negativnonebeautiful campsiteThis place is run with love and good humor. The bread roll service rounds off the stay. - Jörg S.May 2022PositiveLovingly decorated with antiques, operator is fully committed to his task and is personally there for everyone and every concern. Ecological objectives (organic sewage treatment plant is ready, conversion of showers etc. planned)Negativliked everythingRelaxed place, you immediately feel at homeThe operator puts his heart and soul into his work and you can see his love for the place, the area and the guests. Even at peak times, everyone has plenty of space. The adjoining restaurant (from Easter to October) also attracts cyclists, hikers and locals - it's great all round, with personal service,... good prices and a wonderful ambience. THE place to explore Weimar and the surrounding area by bike and on foot.
Marco - you're well on the way to becoming the No. 1 campsite in Europe (if you can do without the entertainment and chic mickey-taking. But in the evening campfire, sunset....Automatisk oversat. - Tom J.March 2022PositiveSimplicity, friendliness, tranquillity, natureNegativ- nothingQuiet, nice, with attention to detailAn idyll not far from the cities of Weimar, Bad Berka and Erfurt. Located directly on the Ilm cycle path.
The campsite is small but very nice. Furnished with great attention to detail.
The operator is really nice, uncomplicated and open-minded towards his guests.
He is currently building a large forest playground for the little ones.
Everything you need is there.
We say thank you and would love to come back.Automatisk oversat. - Ulrike s.September 2021PositiveCentrally located, in the middle of the forest, clean sanitary facilities, freshly prepared food, lovingly designedNegativthere was nothing to complain aboutEverything is just right hereWe stayed at this great campsite from 30.09. to 04.10.21. It is very lovingly furnished. The sanitary facilities are very tidy and clean. This also applies to the showers. You can even enjoy a freshly prepared meal and freshly tapped beer here. The operator is very friendly. We particularly noticed how... quiet the site was. That's not the case at other campsites. It's a pleasure to be a guest there. We will definitely be back. Keep up the good work!!! Ulrike & OliverAutomatisk oversat.
- Fred H.September 2021PositiveallNegativactually nothingSimply rest and relaxationWe actually wanted to go back to the Baltic Sea after a year's "forced break". Unfortunately, many others wanted to do the same, so we looked for alternatives and found the "Im Grünen" campsite in Oettern.
It was an absolute stroke of luck. After a very warm welcome from the operator Marko, we were shown... the pitch, electricity connection, water, toilet and showers. Once we had our campervan in position and the car engine was switched off, we heard ............ nothing! Absolute peace and quiet. You can relax within minutes. Nothing changed during our entire stay. The site is relatively small (approx. 50 pitches) and there is a separation between tourists and permanent campers, but people meet in the evening or at the weekend from midday in the "Männerwirtschaft" and have a good time with regional beer and delicious Thuringian home cooking. On Wednesdays, the barbecue is fired up and there is, of course, Thuringian grilled sausage. The secret star is the campsite dog Chloe. She sometimes comes to visit and "looks after things". If you like it sporty, the Ilm cycle path runs right next to the campsite and is quite challenging in terms of gradients.
Otherwise you should be mobile. The site is outside of Oettern, Erfurt, Weimar and Jena can be reached very quickly.
P.S. Be sure to drive "overland" to Erfurt. You can also take the highway, which is only a 5-minute drive away, but it's not nearly as much fun. So if you like peace and quiet, head for Oettern.
Addendum: Marko, if you're reading this, keep up the good work. We'll keep our promise and come back. And thanks again for the help with our "flat tire" and also a greeting to Christian Rau and his team from Autohaus Formen Cars for the quick and uncomplicated help.Automatisk oversat. - Beat C.September 2021PositiveWonderful, quiet, natural site on the edge of the forest with almost everything you need.NegativNo WLAN, showers with coins, gray water drain still missing (but is in planning).Very nice, quiet, whale placeVery nice place, nice operator, nice toilet block with washing-up facilities outside under the roof, functional showers (we're not big on coin-operated showers). Bicycle rental possible (unfortunately no e-bikes 😉). A very nice cycle path leads from the campsite directly to the center of Weimar (leisurely... ride approx. 75' one way). Barbecue evenings with very fine potato salad, grilled sausages, meatballs and beer in the tavern are highly recommended.Automatisk oversat.
- Ralf E.July 2021PositiveLocation - Atmosphere - NatureNegativ-Our favoriteThis was our second time there and we will definitely be back if we are traveling to Weimar/Thuringia again.
The campsite is right on the Ilmtal cycle path, which takes you directly to Weimar in about 30 minutes. You can hire bikes at the campsite. The immediate surroundings also offer plenty of opportunities... for hikers. Weimar, Erfurt and Jena are practically on the doorstep. Wartburg/Eisenach is approx. 70 minutes away by car.
The pitches are adequately sized and all have electricity. Water is available at two taps on the site. Bread roll service works smoothly and from Thursday to Sunday there is hearty home cooking in the restaurant.
Marco really puts his heart and soul into running the site. He is constantly improving and optimizing. A nice little site - but not for people looking for pitches with garden gnomes...Automatisk oversat. - Christoph B.July 2021PositiveDelicious bistro that is well frequented. It's the ideal place for us to simply relax. We've been there several times over the past few years. After the change of operator a few years ago, it has become even more idyllic. Marco and Simone have put so much heart into beautifying... the place that you feel all the more at home. Whether it's a nice fire at the new fireplace or a delicious meal in the bistro, you simply feel at home. We will always come back to Öttern to relax.Automatisk oversat.
