- Daniel J.July 2024PositiveThe space, the nature.NegativYou can't stay outside as the wasps are extremely aggressive and easy. No recognizable measures by the operator to protect guests.Very nice campsite not usable due to wasp infestationOnly an exterminator can help to make real use of this space. Unfortunately, the pest turns your stay into a spooky run.Automatisk oversat.
- Marko J.July 2024PositiveA campsite with a long tradition. Even our 90-year-old grandmother camped here.Negativchild-unfriendlyUnfriendly to childrenChildren are not welcome. No reservation was made for our son's school class. It could get too loud. Our almost 18-year-old son also wanted to spend a night at the campsite with his little brother during the vacations. This was also not welcome and taking photos of the stars. Not all teenagers are loud... and drink alcohol! Moreover, teenagers grow up and are good customers for life. Once a camper, always a camper! But certainly not at this campsite!Automatisk oversat.
- Roy N.July 2024PositiveIdyllic location, nice and quiet, very good hiking possibilities also with dogNegativPrice-performance does not quite fit in my opinionShort trip Friday to SundayWe received a friendly welcome. Guided to the pitch by the groundsman and well briefed. The place is very idyllic and very quiet. We were able to hike nicely even with a dog. Since dogs are allowed, I missed dispensers with dog waste bags and corresponding disposal options.
What I did not like at all was that the sanitary facilities were not even cleaned from Friday to Sunday.Automatisk oversat. - Sylvia F.May 2024PositiveThe place is quiet and wonderfully situatedNegativNothing.A great campsiteWe were there in May 2024. The site is very idyllic. The lake is clear. There are great hiking opportunities. The operator is friendly and fair. Well organized place. Price-performance ratio is totally fine in my opinion. I would gladly come again!Automatisk oversat.
- axel k.June 2022PositiveSuper nice reception, easy choice of pitch, great sanitary facilities, wonderful hiking opportunitiesNegativThere are currently roadworks on the access road, but even these can be mastered despite 10 minutes at the red light. Besides, the campsite can't help itWonderful in the Thuringian ForestOn the way back from the dry, brown Harz Mountains, we enjoyed the real green of the Thuringian Forest. Despite the lunch break, we were picked up immediately with a great choice of pitches. Evening meal in the restaurant, not necessarily cheap but the portion was right for the price and super tasty. Wonderful hiking opportunities in the surrounding area.
We think we'll be back again sometime, but for longer.Automatisk oversat. - Michaela L.May 2022Positivevery nice staff no Remmi-Demmi clean sanitary facilities lots of space, without restrictionsNegativfor us noQuiet and cleanWe were there with the camper van and bicycles. The welcome and the registration process were nice and uncomplicated. You sign up on a list for the bread rolls the next morning. You are directed to the pitch and asked if you like the place. During our stay, there were lots of campers with 1-2 dogs on... the pitch. But that didn't bother us. We didn't use the WiFi as I always have the Gigacube with me and therefore had no restrictions on WiFi reception. The sanitary facilities were clean and tidy. The restaurant with outdoor terrace is open from 5 pm and offers a small selection of dishes that are somewhat reminiscent of GDR cuisine. The food and service were very good. There are plenty of excursion options for hiking or cycling. Oberhof is just under 6km through the forest. The hiking trails are very well signposted.Automatisk oversat.

- Uli W.July 2021PositiveLocation, nature, peace and quiet, leisure facilities, friendly and uncomplicated staff, no precise parcelling out in the upper pitch area, bathing facilities.NegativNo signage in the town coming from the A4, which has also been confirmed and where there should be a remedy.Great placeThe site is beautifully situated in the wooded countryside, and there are great opportunities for excursions by bike and on foot. Bathing is also great, the pitch and sanitary facilities were small but clean and sufficient for the well-filled pitch. Shopping facilities were in Frankenhain (corner store... with certain opening hours - unfortunately there was no indication of this on the campsite) and in Grebenhain, both also accessible by bike, but sporty. Peace and quiet, play opportunities for children and great exercise opportunities for dogs. We liked it very much and would be happy to come back, also because the staff were unobtrusively helpful and uncomplicated.Automatisk oversat.
- Benny K.July 2021PositiveQuiet location in the Thuringian ForestNegativPub closed No cell phone network WLAN does not work either Places wildly togetherShort stayUnfortunately, the advertised pub was also completely closed. If you want to go out for a meal, a longer trip is necessary. Internet (hotspot) on site very poor, usually doesn't work. The pitches are relatively wildly allocated, you can stand wherever you fit.Automatisk oversat.
- Thomas L.June 2021PositiveClean, mostly quiet, great starting point for hikes and bike toursNegativPermanent campers for whom the word midday rest is rather annoying and is therefore ignored. Construction work, green cuttings and driving around are apparently exempt from the regulation.Beautifully situated in the forest and by the lakeWell-kept site with very friendly staff. Beautifully situated, nestled between forest and lake, far away from through traffic. Very quiet and relaxed from Sunday evening to Friday afternoon, full and less quiet at the weekend. Many hiking opportunities directly from the site and in the immediate vicinity.... Cycling requires a certain level of fitness or an e-bike. The cycle paths are mostly unpaved. Nearest shopping facilities are 5-10 kilometers away. Can be a problem with a motorhome if you don't have enough supplies or a second vehicle. The restaurant was closed, but a take-away meal was offered. The site is clean, sanitary facilities are cleaned often enough to make a clean impression even in heavy traffic and bad weather. Well suited for dogs, dog bath available, short distances from the site for walking. However, we would have liked at least poop bag dispensers and more garbage cans for the extra charge for dogs. Overall, the waste, toilet and gray water disposal in the upper area is poorly solved, long distances to the disposal facilities.
Cities such as Eisenach, Erfurt and Weimar are within easy reach and well worth a visit.
Showers and WiFi are included in the price, but WiFi is rather weak but sufficient for basic functions such as e-mails, reading the newspaper or WhatsApp. Hu
Conclusion: gladly againAutomatisk oversat. - Josef M.October 2020PositiveTranquillity and surroundings, hiking opportunitiesNegativPitches require increased effort due to unevenness, pitches quite small, restaurant was permanently closed, nearest supply option far away.Camping in a secluded locationWe used the camping site for a stopover on a round trip with the caravan through the low mountain ranges of the new federal states. The location is idyllic and the staff are friendly. Unfortunately, the uneven pitches are quite small and the sanitary facilities are far too small. There was a queue for... the showers. We were surprised at the high occupancy of the site in October. We will choose a different site next time because of the unsatisfactory sanitary facilities.Automatisk oversat.
- Ilka F.August 2020PositiveAbsolutely quiet location by the lake and free choice of parking spaceNegativThe tap in the men's toilet turns off too quickly.Quiet place right on the lakeWe spent two lovely weeks on this site. Bread rolls could be ordered daily, but the selection was not so large. The W-LAN usually worked well for us. We also visited the restaurant, but we found the prices too high for a self-service campsite. The sanitary facilities were mostly clean, of course there... were times when not everything was tip-top, but that's also down to those who leave dirt there. Soap and disinfectant were available. The staff were always friendly. The lake was clean and had spacious sunbathing areas.Automatisk oversat.
- Klaus a.August 2020PositiveThis place is pure idyll. Absolute tranquillity in nature. Hiking, cycling and swimming at the highest level without crowds. The perfect dream for dogs.NegativI have not found anything that I would say is detrimentalStay Oberhof CampingWe were recommended this campsite by friends (permanent campers) and are delighted with it. From the friendliness of the staff to the sanitary facilities, hygiene in the Corona period, the surroundings ideal for hiking, swimming and cycling to the heavenly peace and quiet - absolutely top. For the above reasons, we extended our stay by 10 days.Automatisk oversat.
- Familie S.August 2020PositiveGreat reservoir for swimming, boating etc., good bread service,NegativNo taps, no plugs in the 3 sinks, no hygiene to speak of, WLAN constantly overloaded, no cycle pathshardly any hygiene, unfriendly groundskeeperSanitary facilities do not comply with the current Corona regulations. Many people ignore the face mask and go to the sanitary facilities without it, which are overloaded due to the many campers. Cleanliness is not taken seriously. On the cleaning schedule, cleaning is supposedly done every 2 hours.... But when the dirt lies in the same place for 2 days, it's hard to believe. The main problem is hygiene. We preferred to leave early rather than suffer consequential damage to our health.
The groundsman is not friendly when there are problems. On departure we drove past him where he cheekily stuck his tongue out at us. I have never experienced such rude behavior on a campsite.
WLAN hopelessly overloaded, no D1 telecom reception, if you book water on site you have to have a hose with a garden connection as there is no tap. No waste water on site, there is no designated gray water disposal, excellent bike paths are not available.Automatisk oversat. - Chris F.June 2020PositiveIt is possible to camp in groups by arrangement.Negativdifficult journey via narrow (one-way) roads and no direct road (only forest and forest tracks) to Oberhof.nice short vacationPositive: loose distribution of parking spaces
uncomplicated ordering of bread rolls
beautiful bathing lake
good starting point for MTB tours (with good conditions)
free (clean) showers
neutral: free W-Lan, unfortunately the connection is constantly interrupted. Cell phone network is virtually non-existent...
negative: difficult access via Frankenhain, no direct road to Oberhof - only forest and woodland paths.
Very hard ground
Kiosk was not open during our stay (when gate open = open, when gate closed = closed).
Shopping is only possible in Gräfenroda
The paths are very poorly signposted or not signposted at all. A good hiking map or at least offline maps for your cell phone are highly recommended.Automatisk oversat. - Heiko F.June 2020PositiveSanitary facilities with rental bathrooms, tent meadow, reservoir, relaxed - friendly staff,NegativWater pressure at the water taps, poor hotspot reception (free) Potholes in the pathsNatural campsite by the reservoirBeautifully situated campsite on the Lütscher reservoir,
Friendly, helpful staff, will certainly come back againAutomatisk oversat. - Finchen 1.September 2019PositiveGreat location Peace and quietNegativDog droppings Cleanliness in generalClean dog areaWe stayed at the campsite for 10 days in September. The access road is a few kilometers through a forest where snow chains are compulsory in winter. The reception was very friendly and the staff were generally very nice and friendly (apart from the conspiracy theories of the male cleaner, which you involuntarily... witness). There is a free choice of pitches. The pitches are divided by tree trunks and small boundary stones. We found the size of the pitches to be a little small, as you have problems squeezing your caravan, awning and car onto your pitch when it is full. The ground was very hard and it is advisable to take suitable pegs with you, as normal pegs won't work. The sanitary facilities were tight and the showers in particular were very cramped. As there is also no children's bathroom, it is difficult to shower small children. The baby changing room only consists of a changing mat. There is no baby bath or similar. However, bathrooms can be rented cheaply (6-7 euros per night). What was also very strange: you can't lock the shower cubicles in the ladies' rooms. The cleanliness was just OK to borderline. This is also reflected on the campsite. Because it is quite common to step in the footprints on the pitch. At the latest on the direct forest paths at the campsite you find yourself in a dog mess anyway. It felt like we were the only campers without a dog and we are also very fond of animals and have never had any problems with dogs on campsites. Unfortunately, this changed after this vacation. We don't understand how a campsite can tolerate this kind of behavior with regard to the dogs' droppings. After all, dog owners don't like stepping in piles, do they? Unfortunately, this meant that we had to keep a constant eye on our child so that he didn't play with piles. Especially as there isn't really any opportunity to spend much time in the playground (a simple slide, two normal swings, an outdated climbing frame and a seesaw). We didn't try the restaurant or the snack bar (which was open once during our stay). You can order bread rolls, but there is no kiosk or store. However, there is a large supermarket one village away that has everything you need, so no problem if you are prepared. Incidentally, we couldn't hear anything from the nearby quarry, or there was no work going on at the time. The site itself is divided into a tourist area and an area for permanent campers, some of which look unkempt. Just like the whole campsite in places. Because you could really make so much out of it with a few clear announcements and a little better care, as the location and the peace and quiet are really fantastic and the CP really has potential. Also because of the friendly staff. But unfortunately we won't be back under these circumstances. For us, the price-performance ratio is not right.Automatisk oversat.
- Martin K.August 2019Positivefree choice of pitches, unparceled pitches, peace and quietNegativ-A wonderful spot on earthOn our tour across Thuringia, we ended up at the Lütsche reservoir (Oberhof Camping) in Frankenhain. It's quite a steep uphill drive, but once you've reached the top it's worth the effort: the view of the Thuringian Forest and the reservoir. And then the campsite: small but nice, a very friendly welcome,... super nice staff, it felt like we were neighbors. After checking in, the next positive surprise: just choose a pitch, great, exactly what we were looking for. Every pitch has electricity, free clean sanitary facilities and free Wi-Fi throughout the site as well as free access to the lake, a nice little but nice restaurant and a self-service snack bar on site, including a pizza and chips machine, something I've never seen before, a great idea. Some of the pitches are a little sloping, so don't forget your chocks. If you are looking for a small lake and peace and relaxation on hot days, this is the place for you. We will be back 100%.Automatisk oversat.
- Valentin W.July 2019PositiveVery friendly, one day a free car. Beautiful landscape.NegativIt's quite a walk to get a bread roll.We stayed for 3 days in July 2019, grene Wider. We had nothing but friendly staff, which you rarely see. Since we were traveling with a motorhome, we were very happy about the free parking for one day. On the panorama meadow (at the price of the motorhome pitch) you have a wonderful view. You need a bit of time to get bread rolls. Any time again.Automatisk oversat.
- Jessica P.July 2019PositivePure nature, you can move around freely, dogs are very welcome, good value for money, free WiFiNegativHardly any garbage cans on CP and at the lakeDog paradiseIt was our first time here for the weekend and we wondered why we hadn't done it more often (as we live nearby). It was so super nice and relaxed for us with our 2 dogs and small child (5 years) that we will definitely come more often. The site is open all around, so you can stumble from the caravan... directly into the forest or to the lake. When the weather is nice, the lake is well frequented, even by non-campers. But the shore is so wide that you can always find a spot. There are signs everywhere saying that dogs are not allowed on the lake or must be kept on a lead, but if you don't bother anyone, your four-legged friends can run around as they please. An absolute paradise for dogs. The hiking trails are also easily accessible in all possible directions directly from the campsite. As we live nearby, we have also had friends and family as guests. That was no problem at all and didn't bother anyone. As I said, everything is open and you really feel free :-) The sanitary building is spacious, clean and equipped with several rental bathrooms (one of which we rented). There is another sanitary building at the back. But I wasn't in there, so I can't say anything about it... The pitches are certainly a bit small when fully occupied, but we had no direct neighbors and therefore plenty of space. If you position yourself sensibly, it's not a problem... We used the restaurant once and were very satisfied. The waiter made a somewhat grumpy impression at first glance. But we put up with it and after a while he "thawed out" and made a few jokes with us, so that in the end we felt very comfortable. It's a shame that it closes at 9pm, otherwise we would certainly have stayed longer that evening :-) Unfortunately, there is one thing I have to say (but it's not directly related to the campsite): Some people have apparently never heard of the fact that you have to take your garbage with you when you're out in nature and can't do without plastic packaging :-(. There's rubbish everywhere around the lake and on the forest paths. Yes, there are hardly any garbage cans, I have to admit. But that's still no reason to leave your garbage everywhere. Then you just take it home again. I just find that impossible and can't understand such behavior... So it was a super successful long weekend for us and when we checked out we said goodbye with a reservation for September :-)Automatisk oversat.
