There are no midday lulls to plan your trip around. Everything is wonderfully uncomplicated! This year it was quite cold for June and the sanitary facilities were heated. Wonderful!

But if old Mr. Knaus still visited the site, he would be turning in his grave at what has become of this great, well-kept site. Two sanitary facilities... closed, only one house still open, urgently in need of renovation Rainbow company!!!! not just cashing in!!!
You can't blame the tenant couple, where should they get the necessary money to build roads, renovate sanitary buildings or better build new ones, because the current condition has been going on for a long time after Knaus gave the place away.
Nevertheless, we will come back and support the tenant couple, they are trying hard to run the restaurant as they intended, the site management was forced on them, great Rgenbogen.Automatisk oversat.

The approach to the site from the highway was short and easy, only the last 200 meters were quite uneven and narrow, but also possible with a 250. We heard the highway, which was only really annoying for the extremely sensitive. Even... without a reservation in Corona and vacation season there was no problem, there were plenty of free spaces. The reception was very nice, the choice of pitch was easy. We had a large pitch on the edge of the forest just before the outdoor pool, fortunately plenty of shade in this year's heat. The electrical connection required 40 meters of cable. I can't judge the sanitary facilities, we didn't walk the steep path to the only little house in the heat. The nearest one was closed, apparently for some time. We recommend the restaurant, the food is very good at moderate prices, as is the wine. All precautionary measures regarding Corona were strictly followed, at the reception, in the restaurant and in the store. Pre-ordered buns tasted good anyway. We will definitely be back for a stopover. Why not for longer? We lived about 150 km away for 25 years, so the Lüneburg Heath is not a destination for us. But if you haven't been there yet, it's worth it.Automatisk oversat.- Beate W.August 2020PositiveClose to the Lüneburg Heath nature reserve PoolNegativSomewhat neglected impressionSimple but quiet CPThe campsite is very close to the A7 and the Lündeburger Heide nature reserve. You can arrive at any time up to 10 p.m. and receive a friendly welcome at reception. The operator also provided us with maps for our bike tours. There is a bread roll service and restaurant on site. It was certainly a great... place in the past. But on the whole it made a somewhat neglected impression. The pitches were laid out in terraces, but the path to them was criss-crossed by deep ruts. This didn't necessarily make it easy to drive on with a camper or caravan. The path lighting was defective. Weeds and tall grass have taken over large parts of the site. It is certainly difficult to maintain a site of this size, but a little more care would do the site a lot of good. What a pity. Apparently not all pitches were open for use. Overgrown electricity boxes and water points indicated this. In addition, only 1 sanitary building out of 3 was in use. The sanitary facilities were old and not clean. Some floor drains were blocked. During the whole stay I did not even notice that the sanitary facilities were cleaned.
However, the pool was in good condition. You had to overlook the broken tiles in the shower and the blocked drain.

It is situated in a natural wooded area. In the front area you stand on firm grass and can receive both satellite TV and free WiFi. You can quickly reach the wonderful, typical heathland, where there are many hiking... and cycling tours to choose from. The restaurant deserves special praise. Very poor lighting!Camping EgestorfI'm sorry. The place must have been very nice in the past. Unfortunately, the owners let it go to rack and ruin. The way to the wash house was an adventure. There was only one lamp from the pitch to the toilet and it was in front of the wash house. The rest of the road was destroyed by tree roots or... huge holes in the asphalt due to frost damage. If you forget your flashlight there, you'd better have good insurance. The operator makes up for some of the damage with kindness. But unfortunately that's not enough. It's also a shame to see the forest, where there used to be a lot of permanent campers. And the A 7 was already there at that time. I can't understand why these people were driven away. On the one hand it has everything a camper could wish for, on the other hand the place looks like it was abandoned 20 years ago. So the reception was friendly, the showers are hot and WITHOUT coins, and separate from the sanitary area, both heated, everything... a bit outdated, but clean. There is also a restaurant and bread service. In the front CP area free AND ALSO receivable WIFI. Last but not least, a swimming pool, which is even illuminated at night, but the path to the sanitary building is not. The front CP is flat and divided into plots. If you drive up you come to the terraced pitches. The other largest part has been reclaimed by nature. As I said, the paths and green areas have not been maintained for a long time. The reception is friendly. There is a bread roll service - these are only baked, but ok. The site is a gigantic size with lots of woodland. Only one meadow behind the small, clean but rather chlorinated pool... is really usable as a pitch (toilets outdated, no soap). The rest of the site is not well maintained and is partly overgrown several meters high. Shady spots are therefore in short supply. There is shade at the edge of the meadow, but there are a few trees that are obviously leaning due to a storm - nothing we would like to stand under. There is only one toilet block open. The building is clean, the facilities are outdated. On the path to the sanitary building, you almost step on a huge wasp hole with lively flying traffic: a barrier would have been useful. In the evening, while walking the dog on overgrown paths across the huge site, we meet a handful of permanent campers in the middle of the forest: an 80-year-old resident tells us that 40 years ago there were around 360 permanent campers, almost all of whom have since left. Further through the forest, there are still remnants of these permanent campers in the thicket, dripping taps (!) and lots of old, crushed shards of glass on the paths - a rather creepy affair. We used the site for one night. It's suitable for that. In the long term, some things urgently need to be done and renovated. It is also not clear to us what should happen in the event of a fire - in our opinion, a fire would be unstoppable in this dry thicket.Automatisk oversat.

Michael B.September 2015PositivePrice-performance ratio, nature and heathland all aroundNegativLack of investment opportunities for operators despite high level of commitmentVery friendly and helpful, top price-performance ratioWith every contact, you can feel the warmth, friendliness and attentiveness of the new operator couple, who are making every effort to spruce up the somewhat lonely and ageing, huge site. The site offers older but clean sanitary facilities, no perfectly paved paths, but a wonderful, large and well-maintained... swimming pool, very reasonable prices - even for hearty home cooking in the rustic restaurant - and, apart from the constant noise of the nearby highway, a lot of peace and quiet, plenty of sunny and shady pitches to choose for yourself and lots of space from the neighbors. Unfortunately, many former permanent campers have left their pitches behind like sw... but this is hardly noticeable when it comes to vacation pitches. Of course, there is so much that could be renovated and embellished here, but who could blame the operators for not being able to make many financial investments when there is very little footfall and they are busy maintaining the green areas that are regularly plowed over by rabbits. Although only one overnight stay was planned, we stayed for several days with our camper van on the way home from the north to relax - it was still very nice and we would come back any time. It's a shame that sites like this are slowly dying, because most high-end campers today expect gold-plated bathrooms with underfloor heating and every conceivable comfort - and are probably prepared to pay many times the price for it. The last time was in May 2015. The new tenants are very nice and courteous and are trying to make the best of this unfortunately run-down site. Unfortunately, the Regenbogen management doesn't seem to be playing along, and the sanitary facilities... urgently need to be renewed. Last year the separate toilet and shower containers were still open, this year these containers were missing. As we are self-sufficient, we always stand alone in the forest, this year the way to the toilet and sanitary building was very long. This sanitary building is also very run-down. Thanks to the nice operator, we were at least allowed to use the disabled toilet. Otherwise we would probably have cut our visit very short. It's a shame that the company has let this place get so run down. As the new operators are tilting at windmills, we are keeping our fingers crossed for a lot of strength.
