"Sanitary building too small and no waste water disposal for Womos - The sanitary building has too little capacity for the number of people in the morning and in the evening you have to queue. To dispose of dirty water with the Womo you have to drive through the village to another CP!!!! Otherwise a nice CP and close to the center.

"was an emergency solution for us - actually wanted to go to another place, which was unfortunately occupied, so we ended up here, elongated place, pitches not particularly large and without lateral demarcation by hedges or similar, proximity to the Dünne, clean sanitary facilities with hot showers, but with almost full occupancy absolutely not sufficient, extremely many dogs whose owners also "go for a walk" on the pitch, embarrassing!

"Quiet camping close to the beach - We felt very comfortable with children and dog! Beautiful, large pitches on grass, clean, small, animation program for children during the vacations (partly in cooperation with the Koogerstrand site), beautiful location on the edge of de Koog directly on the forest/dunes.

"Good location - The site is very well maintained. The staff were always friendly. The sanitary building is no longer up to date. However, it was clean at all times. Too few showers inside. When two showers are in use the whole room is damp. That's why both outside doors are always open, so that there is a draught, even when washing up.

"Camping on Texel - Nice place just outside of De Koog (about 500 meters) with large pitches. Reception only manned 9-17:30 otherwise you should contact e.g. via Watts App if you need someone (???). No possibilities to buy anything on the site and the bread service offered only delivers the bread rolls ordered the day before from 9 a.m., which we found too late. The sanitary buildings were very clean all the time, even over Whitsun when the site was full, but what is not so good is that there are only 3 showers + 4 toilets + 3 wash cubicles for men and women for the 70 pitches available. This was definitely not enough on the days when the site was full and on the other days there were sometimes longer waiting times. Due to its location, we found the place good for doing something on the island, whether for sunbathing on the beach or for excursions by bike or on foot.

Directions De Shelter lies to the north of De Koog. The camping site is easily accessible by car and public transport. By car Travel to Den Helder via the A7 and/or N9. Directions to the ferry are clearly indicated. On …Texel, follow the signs towards De Koog. Once in town, keep right. Continue along Nikadel. Turn left after Super De Boer. Turn right at the junction with Boodtlaan. After a few hundred metres you'll see FC De Koog's football field with a road off to your left, which takes you to the central reception of De Shelter and Om de Noord where you can sign in.Routebeschrijving You can also plan your route via www.routenet.nl Enter De Shelter's address: Boodtlaan 43, 1796 BD, De Koog. By public transport Take the train to Den Helder. From the station take bus route 33 to the ferry. We would advise you to book a Texel Telekomtaxi at the counter in Den Helder. You can also take bus 28 on Texel. Validate your ticket in Den Helder ahead of your journey to De Koog. Alight at the Nikadel stop and follow the road to the junction with Boodtlaan, then turn right. After a few hundred metres turn left in the direction of the FC De Koog football field where you'll find the central reception for De Shelter and Om de Noord.
