- David F.July 2024Positive-Pool area, nice slides, many pools -animation team -Friendliness of the staffNegativ-Loudness at night sometimes unbearable, especially with small children -Wash houses close at 23h -Sanitary facilities are mixed and dirty, are only roughly sprayed out in the morning, after which they are no longer cleaned. -Nothing is regulated, whether pool or campsite in general. Youth groups roam the campsite screaming at night. -Prices very highDisappointed.Unfortunately, we are disappointed with Yelloh! for the first time. As "frequent campers", we have been to countless campsites and are rather uncritical and uncomplicated. The night's sleep in particular is unparalleled in Europe. Sleep is out of the question before 1-2 o'clock at night. The wash houses... are also questionable and, as I said, close at 11pm. Our children liked it thanks to the pool area and the entertainment.
Unfortunately, we won't be back.Automatisk oversat. - Rolf P. M.September 2019PositiveSpacious, clean and level pitches Friendly staff Clean and quietNegativThe many rental accommodations spoil the camping experienceBeautiful and spacious campsite with many rental accommodationsWe had rented one of the very large premium pitches with electricity and water connections and our own pavilion and barbecue - perfect! There's not much going on in the low season, you have peace and quiet and the staff take excellent care of the few guests. There is a swimming pool and a wellness club (separate entrance) right next to the campsite. The sea is about 1km away. Bayonne and Biarritz are within easy reach.Automatisk oversat.
- Thomas S.September 2017PositiveCleanliness, service and diversityNegativLocation not optimal, but still acceptableI can hear the seaA very nice campsite that has something to offer for every age group, including cycling tours along the coast and the entertaining evening events. Unfortunately, the sea is 900 m away from the campsite, too far to walk with small children, but you can hear the sea at night...😉Automatisk oversat.
- P. K.August 2017PositiveWLAN, toilet paper dispenser, toilet disinfection, baked goods in the store, waste disposal facility,NegativOnly a few fully sunny pitches and mostly on the expensive pitches, lots of car traffic, showers in the Andalus sanitary facilities, wash cabinsSylvamar does not deliver what it promisesWas there for the first time at the end of Aug. 2015. Water and light installation in the sanitary building in very mediocre condition, sometimes no hot water in one cabin, then in another only hot water flows, no cold water, sometimes the light doesn't work in one cabin etc.. Water in the showers has... hardly any pressure, you can't stand under the jet, it falls down so close to the wall. no storage space for utensils e.g. shower gel Water jet at the tap at the washbasin in the men's toilet is a joke. Why it is not possible to have door locks with an "occupied" indicator will remain an eternal French secret, you always have to try all the doors first during the main operating phase. Not enough showers during rush hour, especially for women who go in after swimming with two or three children. The ADAC rating for the sanitary facilities is completely off the mark, three stars at most. Pool area in the HS excessively overcrowded, no pool supervision, people jump in from all sides in all pools despite the ban, not even possible to swim 2 meters. Lighting of the paths completely inadequate. At the end of the season the lighting was even switched off when there were only a few pitches left in the section. Pitch announcements only in French, not even in English. Distance to the beach from our pitch 1.7 km! Good: Baked goods in the store on site. Toilet paper dispenser very good, toilet disinfection also available in every cabin. WLAN on site excellent, even when uploading. Garbage disposal system very good. I was there again this year, as were my children. Period: 2017-08-10 to 2017-09-14 Unfortunately, there are only more negative points to add to what was said in 2015: No change at all in the points criticized! The water in the Andalus sanitary facilities drains very, very poorly, causing edges to form that you can't remove even if you want to, the next user will thank you. The problem seems to be systemic, in front of the sanitary facilities by the gully in the square in front of the barbecue the water doesn't run off either, after rain it stays there for days! The doors on the wash cubicles are still a faulty design, they are exactly the same size as the cubicle and you can hardly go in because when you open them there is hardly a gap between the door leaf and the washbasin. We had reserved a sunny spot without trees. The allocated spot was right in front of the spa's turbine room. Just imagine: we had booked for 6 weeks and were given a place that a) didn't meet the sun without trees criterion and b) was in front of an unbelievable source of constant noise that could at best be enough for a traveler passing through for one night! Why can't we just say we no longer have a sunny pitch? We will never go there again!Automatisk oversat.
- Georg J.August 2016PositiveSea, beach, pitch 74 A.NegativDog shower next to the chemical toilet. Partly unsuitable pitches for motorhomes. Friendliness leaves a lot to be desired.Sylvamar campsiteReception was nice. However, this diminished day by day. We were allocated pitch B46. This pitch is not suitable for motorhomes. After many years of experience of the campsite operator you should know that this place consists only of sand. We had to get help and were pulled out with a tractor. Then we... were assigned another pitch. This pitch was paved and much bigger. The swimming pool is highly recommended. However, too small for the number of people. The beach is a dream. The animation is only in French. The toilets are not modern but functional. The sanitary facilities are cleaned several times a day. You feel like you're on a country road here. Even the garbage is disposed of by car. Constant driving from 07.00 to 23.00. Of all the Yelloh campsites we've been to, this site comes last. You don't get far here with German.Automatisk oversat.
- Elisabeth K.August 2015PositiveLarge pitches, great pool area, clean sanitary facilities, fantastic beachWe love FranceWe spent 2 1/2 weeks at this beautiful place and really enjoyed our vacation. Very friendly German-speaking reception at the reception. Even when we were not satisfied with the pitch assigned to us, we were offered 3 others to choose from, despite the high season. Thanks again for that. We now had a... very large pitch with water/waste water and plenty of sunshine. The beautiful and clean sanitary facilities were also not far away. The site was fully booked and yet there were no traffic jams. Neither at the sanitary facilities, in the supermarket or at the information desk. The pool area was of course a dream. For children and adults alike. The restaurant there was also super tasty and had a new daily menu with specialties from the region every day. All the staff were always friendly and courteous. The entertainment team greeted all new arrivals on Sunday with a welcome show and drink. In French and English. There were different shows every evening. We only went to the Disney show. Really great. On Monday there is a night market next to the campsite. And on Tuesday mornings there is a regular market. The campsite is about 1km from the beach. No problem with the car, as there are large and free parking spaces directly on the beach. And the beach is amazing. Miles long, great waves, supervised and not too crowded. Really good for relaxing and having fun...Le Sylvamar is in the Basque Country. Be sure to visit the Basque villages near the coast. The coastal road between St. Jean-de-Luz and the Spanish border is fantastic and highly recommended. Bayonne, Biarritz, San Sebastian and Capbreton/Hossegor are definitely worth a visit. Capbreton and Hossegor have great beach promenades, restaurants and stores. We did a Segway tour in Capbreton. All I can say about the region is: magical, great and the people are incredibly friendly and always try to speak at least English. It was lovely...Automatisk oversat.
- Klaus S.April 2015PositiveGreat pitches Many discounts in the low season Sensational indoor children's poolNegativProbably overcrowded in the high seasonGreat campsite, incredibly cheap in the low seasonGreat campsite and, thanks to the ACSI card, extremely cheap in the low season. The pitches are very large and have all connections for supply and disposal. Comfort pitches even have benches and a barbecue area (no surcharge on the ACSI price). The lagoon pool was open and the pool was even heated to... 28°. The indoor pool for children was always clean and heated, even though there were perhaps 100 guests on the entire site at the time. There was even children's entertainment and a children's disco. The restaurant and supermarket were open all day and the staff were always friendly and helpful. Exemplary sanitary facilities. The path to the beach is quite long and leads along a road, which is not so nice. This was also being torn up during our visit, so it was not really possible to visit the beach without a car. How the small supermarket and the small restaurant can cope with the crowds in high season is a mystery to me. Definitely worth a visit in low season and with ACSI. There is even a large wellness area attached. A good starting point for various excursions.Automatisk oversat.
- Michael S.July 2014Positivevery clean sanitary facilities, very good supply, beautiful pool area, great beachNegativVery, very expensive, regulation for profit, animation in French only, bawling youth groups at nightRule-based and profit-orientedThe campsite is located approx. 1 km from the beautiful sandy beach and the Atlantic Ocean. It is largely located in a pine forest and has many pitches in full shade, i.e. shade around the clock. The campsite is very large and has large pitches, some up to 150 square meters in size. Most pitches have... electricity, water supply and drainage. However, cheaper pitches without water supply can also be booked. However, these also had no shade and some of them were crooked and sloping. A tent on crooked ground is no fun, especially not sleeping. In summer 2014, we paid around 60 euros/night in the high season. This is already at the top end for a spot on earth, but there are campsites in Spain where 90 euros/night is the norm. The site is mainly frequented by French, English and Dutch tourists, although even the Dutch are less common. Camping Sylvamar is a campsite belonging to the French Yelloh Group. The reception is extremely friendly and serves you in all languages. German and English are no problem, and French is not a problem anyway. The highlight of the campsite is of course the pool complex with its 3 pools, long lazy river and slides. And the spa area. The pool area is bordered by the bar with adjoining restaurant and the amphitheater. However, here comes the first sticking point: everything, but also everything, is regulated in the pool area. The reason for this is by no means safety or cleanliness, as is argued, but solely the profit orientation of the company. It is forbidden to enter the pool area with flip-flops, you are not allowed to wear long swimming shorts (because too much water is carried out of the pools with shorts!!!), you are not allowed to bring anything to eat or drink into the facility. Nobody adhered to this, especially not the hordes of French teenagers who were extremely inconsiderate towards smaller children, especially German children. The pool area is very cramped, every available space is filled with loungers, there are no open spaces. There is even a covered indoor pool adjoining the spa area for the little ones. The indoor pool and the SPA center take up a lot of space. The entire sports program was offered at the amphitheatre and pool area, exclusively in French, although a large proportion of the holidaymakers came from England. Incidentally, they were more pleasant than their reputation, but I have been saying the same thing about the Dutch for years. The exclusion of a multilingual leisure program meant that we were unable to take part in the program as we speak French, but not well. We would have had to follow instructions because we could see it in others, not because we understood it. That's no fun. We don't understand why there were no activities in English. By the way, the English of the entertainers was very poor, almost at primary school level. However, we had the impression that the French wanted to keep to themselves. Even with the sports. The bar and restaurant have a good and wide range of dishes, but like everything in France, they are very expensive. The cheapest pizza, for example, cost 11 euros. However, the food was good to very good. The supermarket also had a good and extensive range, especially the baked goods were very good. The sanitary facilities were well maintained. Each wash house had its own theme, so there was a wash house in a nautical style, one with an Andalusian look and one with a tropical and Scandinavian theme. It was really nice. The beach is great. 200 to 300 m wide and fine sandy beach on the Atlantic coast. Only the bunkers, which were a little sandy, were a bit of a nuisance. Day trips to Biarritz, Lourdes, Hossegor, Capbreton or Spain are a real possibility. Incidentally, refueling is very cheap in Spain, half the price of what you have to pay in France. We won't be returning to this campsite because of the regulations and the cramped conditions at the pool, as well as the fact that it is only available in French.Automatisk oversat.
- Der D.September 2013The campsite is located approx. 900 m from the Atlantic Ocean. It has large pitches of approx. 120-150 m² in a mixed forest mainly covered with pine trees. The campsite has a beautiful bathing area with several pools, slides, sun loungers and a wellness complex. The sanitary facilities are very basic... and in need of renovation and do not deserve 3 stars. The beach is wide, clean and popular with surfers. There are several restaurants and bars along the way. We recommend a trip to Biarritz, approx. 23 km away. There is a large shopping center about 8 km away.Automatisk oversat.
- Roulotte L.August 2012We were on this site in high season when it was fully booked. Nevertheless, everyone was very helpful and you could tell. The pool area and the indoor children's pool, which is ideal for small (and medium-sized) children, are of course outstanding. Our little ones absolutely loved it and it was easy... to forget that the Atlantic Ocean is pretty wild here and we didn't let our children into the water on their own. The entire campsite was very well-kept and guarded by a security service at night. There are lots of play facilities and a comprehensive entertainment program. The pitch was quite large, with sandy ground. Supply columns directly on the pitch. Ideal starting point for trips to Biarritz or San Sebastian. This was by far the nicest campsite and we will certainly return here again.Automatisk oversat.
- Ulla S.May 2012We were here at the beginning of May 2012, due to the distance our accommodation was once again in a mobile home. We flew to Bilbao (Spain) because it was cheaper and the rental cars there are also much cheaper than in France. The campsite is easily accessible via the highway. Everything on site was... very tidy and well maintained. The mobile homes are functionally furnished and the outdoor area is nicely laid out (sunshades and benches as well as a "Caribbean" style border to the neighbors. There are beautiful towns to explore in the surrounding area (Biarritz, Bayonne), the beach is not far away and you can have a great swim there (despite the no swimming sign - presumably because of the surf?). The campsite has a great pool area with indoor pool and wellness area. We will definitely be back :)Automatisk oversat.
- Ulrike F.September 2010Unfortunately, we had the feeling that no maintenance work was carried out on the sanitary facilities over the winter of 2009/2010. They were there in 2009 too! Mold on the walls in the main shower rooms was already there in 2009. Everything made a very dilapidated impression. As it was low season, the... main showers in our area were closed without notice. At first we were told that only 1 area, including the toilet, was still open (far away). However, 2 toilets remained open, the children's bathroom and 4 shower/washrooms which were outside the building. However, depending on the time of day, these were very dark and were no longer cleaned. We also felt that the toilets were only refilled with toilet paper! Pine needles that had fallen off after a storm were still scattered all over the sanitary area after 5 days. As it was low season, it was pleasantly quiet, small offer for children and no queuing like in high season (no matter where). The pitches themselves were very well shaded with electricity, water and drainage.Automatisk oversat.
