This touch of oldscool camping, really everything is old here but it works and is damn cozy! If you're looking for "glamping", you're in the wrong place and should take your e-camper a few extra miles to Italy. But if you really are a self-sufficient camper and need a hot shower or a cool bath, you certainly won't find anything cheaper and more original in high-price vacation destination Switzerland, so take a look here. The river is incredibly loud, even drowning out the nearby highway on which you've probably been driving south. The nearby pavement plant and the trucks (just across the river) can sometimes be heard at night because of the night shift, but hey, that's the price for our "faster and faster, further and further" and is somehow part of the atmosphere (for me the 3rd summer). Where else can you still see hedgehogs crossing the site at night in summer or fireflies flashing on the riverbank? Where are the permanent campers with their lovingly built caravan porches still so original? Even in the Corona summer, there were still human beings here, shaking hands! ***To all bikers: If your ass hurts so much from shaking your saddle that you won't make the next pass or you've had enough of standing in traffic jams and saunas in your station wagon, they also have cozy "barracks" here to give your back a break.

What I don't like about this place is that in a few years' time this quaint pleasure (camping as it once was with Döschwo and Spatz or VW Beetle and 70s caravans) will have to make way for a highway entrance (thanks to Astra, Alptransit & Co. AG) and the bulldozers will flatten everything here. Then there will be no more room for hedgehogs and glowworms, children splashing happily in the giant pool, then there will be an end to relaxing barbecue evenings with an enjoyable glass of wine, pondering in the sad certainty that everyone next door on the highway is actually hurrying towards a destination that will soon no longer exist. A place like here, in Campeggio Taverne ❤️
