"Why does this place have 5 stars? - We didn't like it here. Compared to the previous campsites on our trip through Normandy, this one fell behind even though it had the highest rating. The site has large pitches and is only separated from the beach by a road. The wash houses are different. The one closest to us was old, cramped and rancid and usually smelled like it. Another one in the middle of the site was more spacious and somewhat newer. However, the toilet, shower and washing up were all in one room. So it smelled a bit acrid when showering here too... Subjectively, we felt more tolerated here than as guests. We were placed alone at the very edge of the pitch, the plots nearby remained empty. Apparently they prefer campers to book a longer stay rather than just two nights like us.

"beautifully maintained pitch with great premium pitch incl. private sanitary facilities - We stayed at this site for 4 nights. Reception was unfortunately a bit unfriendly, at the reception we were initially ignored for about 2 minutes without being greeted, while the two receptionists chatted animatedly. Check in then without any problems. Our premium pitch with its own sanitary facilities was almost as good as new and well equipped, the pitch size was super large. On arrival, the pitch was quickly mowed and then we were able to settle in. If you like animals (and their smell), the enclosure won't bother you - but we found the smells unpleasant. Breakfast had to be pre-ordered for the next day in the small and very manageable mini market, baguettes and croissants were very tasty. We were there on Whitsun and AM D-Day, which we hadn't actually planned. A festival atmosphere from Whit Sunday to around Tuesday, with parades and air shows etc. - an interesting experience. We can't give a detailed assessment of the campsite facilities as we were constantly on the move. The general sanitary facilities made a typical French impression at first glance. We can't say any more as we had our own bathroom on the pitch. The disposal point for the chemical toilet was found after a short search at one of the various sanitary blocks in the open air. All in all, a decent campsite, but at a high price (possibly due to the busy D-Day weekend), although the private sanitary facilities were simply TOP and our pitch was simply huge! We didn't use our bikes as we thought it would have been far too dangerous on the narrow and confusing roads.

"Very nice place - Very friendly reception, nice quiet place, large parking lot, goats and horses nearby. A really nice place in a beautiful area. The only downside is that you don't get a menu in the restaurant, but that didn't bother us. Will certainly come back again.

"Beautiful place in Normandy - We were there at the beginning of September, it was sufficiently quiet, there was always a wonderful sea breeze and this place is also well suited for visiting the landing beaches. The friendliness of the staff and the cleanliness of the sanitary facilities should also be mentioned.

"No 5* - We stayed at the campsite for 2 days in September in great weather. We had a premium pitch with our own sanitary facilities. Everything was tip top clean. Only the rabbits were up to mischief underground. Watch out for deep holes. The normal showers are sufficient, clean but not 5 * standard nor 4 stars. The indoor pool was cold early at 9, once the air windows were open - and the water. For wheelchair users, the entrance to the indoor pool is the end of the fun. The gate is far too narrow and then you have to go through the footbath with the wheelchair. I couldn't find another way. The door to the outdoor pool was closed. What use is a disabled-friendly shower and toilet in the indoor pool? Supermarket only very sparsely stocked. Restaurant only partially open and someone was cutting the hedges at nine in the morning. Can't you put that off until the next week when it's closed anyway? The beach is narrow and full of shells, almost no sand. There are nicer beaches. The nearest supermarket didn't turn up wherever we were and the nearest restaurant, well, don't ask too much. Almost nobody speaks German here. At the campsite, however, they do their best to accommodate every language. The pitches are large and well-kept. Bouncy castles and playground available. I didn't see any more entertainment. Many people play boccia.

To Find site:- From the east and south exit N13 onto the D913 signed for Ste Marie du Mont and Utah Beach. At T junction with Utah Beach Museum ahead turn left onto D421 signed to Ravenoville Plage. Site on …left in about 7 kms. From north exit N13 at Ste Mere Eglise and take D15 towards Ravenoville and turn left onto D14 to village and then turn right towards Ravenoville Plage. In Ravenoville Plage turn right onto D421 and site on right in about 1 km. (please note roads in Ste Mere Eglise are quite narrow so care is required. Don't let your Sat Nav deviate from the routes noted as many roads in the area are only single track!)
