The campsite owners who attach great importance to a quiet and relaxed atmosphere. Who are on hand with help and advice. The peace and quiet on the site, even during the day; the excellent sanitary facilities, the beautiful large pitches, the surroundings. Another advantage is that most campers can still behave themselves here and know that a cleaner doesn't run after them after every visit to the sanitary facilities to clean up the mess and they also know what a toilet brush is for. Unfortunately, pigs still exist. Hey folks, cleanliness - hygiene in the sanitary area is, among other things, a "unique selling point for a campsite".

Emstal Campsite - A retreat from everyday life and stress, into the peace and quiet of the countryside.
**Location:**
Here you can escape from everyday life, situated between the Ems and the Dortmund-Ems Canal, which is only a stone's throw away. Wonderful cycle paths invite you to go on extensive tours: Emsland, East Frisia, Hümmling Nature Park, Rheiderland and many more. Take a look at the impressive... former Transrapid test track

**Pitches:** Generously sized pitches are equipped with electricity, water and waste water connections. WLAN is also available!

**Pure nature:** Here you can enjoy the silence and listen to the chirping of many different birds. The site is ideal for peace-loving individualists, cyclists (with/without e-assistance [pedelec]) and here, as elsewhere in Germany, riding an e-bike on cycle paths in urban areas is prohibited unless they are signposted as "e-bike free".

**Sanitary facilities:** Always clean and well-maintained sanitary facilities. Are cleaned twice a day. I have never seen better maintained ones. Not many people have realized that the toilet doors have door handles that you should use after your business. Your back door doesn't let out any perfume scent.
There's also a ventilation system that works when all the doors are kept closed.

**Equipment:**
A kiosk with some food, drinks and a bread roll service is on site, from 8.00am. Washing machine, dryer, scullery with hot and cold running water. Here too, "Cleanliness is priority 1

If you are looking for fun, radio, barbecues, parties etc., this is not the place for you!!! Things are "civilized" on the campsite. If campers get upset and complain here or on other platforms because the campsite operator is dictating the rules on and in his property, I say "switch on your brain".

A campsite is not a legal vacuum. It makes more sense for you as a nagging camper to think about your behavior - but not the site owner.

Very nice location in the middle of nature
The Emstal campsite is located just outside Sustrum in the middle of nature on the River Ems and close to the Dortmund-Ems Canal and is very well maintained with hedges, bushes and trees. The pitches are generously sized and have electricity, water and waste water connections. WLAN is available. The... site is ideal for individualists who love peace and quiet. It is also very quiet during the day and you can only hear the chirping of many different birds. The operators are very polite, friendly and value peace and quiet. The sanitary facilities are very clean and well-maintained and the best we have ever found on a campsite. The disposal station for motorhomes is easily accessible. There is a kiosk with some food, drinks and a bread roll service. A restaurant with outdoor seating and good food is located directly at the Düther Schleuse and only about 1.5 km from the campsite.

Very friendly and warm welcome. Good maps for cycling tours are given to you on arrival. Very clean sanitary facilities. In very quiet surroundings. Attention is paid to a good night's sleep.

Quiet location and attention is paid to the peace and quiet of the site, even by the campers present (at least during our stay).
Very nice, clean and well-kept new sanitary facilities. There is also an entry point (without entry aid) into the Ems at the site
Ideal... for cycling and relaxing.
No entertainment, no playground.
There is a bread roll service and the most necessary drinks and food such as noodles and rice in the small Smile.

Never again, not even for free!
We can only recommend the place to couples who have nothing more to say to each other, cheerfulness and laughter are not welcome!
We were there with a couple we were friends with and had a place next to each other - which was not appreciated. At 8:50 pm the campsite manager came and insulted us loudly... about our volume - we had no music, ate and talked and laughed - just to remind you - it was Friday evening at 8:50 pm!!!! The mood in the evening was of course over, we only whispered :-(
We left the very next day.
We have been campers for a long time and are definitely considerate of our fellow human beings, but nothing like this has ever happened to us.
We can only recommend avoiding this site!

Stay at Emstal campsite in June/July 22
It is an all-round feel-good and relaxing place for older people. The entrance to the Ems cycle path is in the immediate vicinity and leads through beautiful nature. During our stay it was unfortunately very hot and very unpleasant for cycling.

a place to relax
Our first impression when we arrived:
If you are looking for peace and quiet and still want to hear nature, this is the place for you. Birdsong from dawn to dusk. No annoying barking or noise from any electronic boxes. A really nice little campsite. Beautifully situated in the countryside on the Ems... and an oxbow lake. The pitches are all large enough and have electricity, fresh water and waste water. Some are under trees, but there are also sunny pitches or separated by hedges and bushes.
The sanitary facilities, the kitchen and also the chemical disposal:
If we could award 6 stars for its cleanliness, we would immediately. We've been camping for 30 years now, but we've never seen anything like it. Some premium campsites can take a leaf out of our book. The bread roll service worked very well. There is something for everyone. Excursions by bike directly from the site... along the canal or the Ems or finally through the beautiful Emsland.
Conclusion:
A place to slow down from everyday life or work stress or simply to unwind.
The owner couple are friendly and courteous, but also run the site with a certain determination. Some may not be able to cope with this, but for those campers there will certainly be enough alternative destinations.
It was our first time here, but certainly not our last.

A little paradise for over-55s
The cleanliness, the wonderful wash house and above all (!!!!) this heavenly peace. The owners run this place with clear rules and that is a 100% win for everyone..... Thank you, thank you for a week of total relaxation. We will be back very soon.

We stayed at the campsite for 1 week. It was a lovely and relaxing time. If you are looking for peace and relaxation, this is the place for you. The great, clean sanitary facilities deserve a special mention. The clean and well-kept campsite also deserves a special mention. We received a friendly welcome from the owner couple.

Campsite for those seeking peace and quiet
I have already reviewed the campsite in June 2020. This year I can confirm all the reviews again. If you are looking for peace and relaxation, this is the place for you. We would love to come back to this campsite. We won't wait until next year either, but will be back at the end of August. That says it all, doesn't it?

Sanitary facilities and cleanliness, state of maintenance of the site, very helpful operator couple. No children's playground, no football pitch, no play areas, says a lot. The focus here is on the "guest seeking peace and quiet". You'll look in vain for a hustle and bustle here. If you do, you can leave. Keeping quiet is a !must! Is specially pointed out! Thank goodness the operator is aware of his task - including observing the rules of the site - after all, it is his property. I would like to see more of such course operators.

There is nothing wrong with the campsite. Only, as is so often the case, with some campers.
5-star place for those seeking peace and quiet
The course is a little surprising at first glance. The 2nd is convincing. Especially in the area of the sanitary facilities and the peace and quiet on the pitch.
In the sanitary area you notice that someone has built an area that has the guest/camper (customer who brings money) and satisfaction in mind... (so that the customer comes back) Vlt it was also so that the owner thought, my guests should feel as comfortable as I have it with myself 😉.

Sanitary * * * * * * and cleanliness in it, countless other campsites can take a leaf out of my book - that's how sanitary facilities work.

There is a rubber squeegee with a wooden handle in every shower. Pine and pine heartwood in particular have been shown to have an antibacterial effect and good hygienic properties. Here, guests are not afraid of toilet brushes biting, no, they use them 👍

Anyone who thinks they can behave as they please here (inconsiderately and loudly) will be proven wrong.

Campers who do not want to behave as guests on a campsite and believe that they have bought the right with the site fee to behave excessively loudly or to drive fast on the site or to pollute the sanitary areas unrestrainedly etc. Sorry you inconsiderate people - you will be thrown off the site .... and that's a good thing.

Goethe: If you don't want to obey the rules, you have to leave the area where the rules apply.

Guests seeking peace and quiet have bought peace, relaxation and cleanliness with their fees. That is the "capital of the operator".

We will definitely be back.

Wifi: As the IT company has checked everything, it can be assumed that some devices or settings can cause problems. Therefore, you should always contact the CP operator to find a solution if problems occur.
Pure nature and tranquillity
We were able to relax in this lush natural setting. The pitch assigned to us was also in a very nice location. Green screening everywhere. We would be happy to recommend the campsite to others.

There's nothing I didn't like
If you love peace and quiet, this is the place for you
Very nice, quiet campsite, if you are looking for relaxation and absolute peace, this is the right place. Very nice starting point for cycling tours in the Emsland. Very nice operators who lovingly look after the site. You can also see this in the very well-kept sanitary building. Mobile phone and LTE... reception is traditionally poor in this region 🤮. But the operator makes every effort to ensure consistent WiFi reception on all pitches. We will be back.

Wonderfully quiet campsite
Ideal for city dwellers in need of peace and quiet, no street noise or smells. Cyclists and hikers get their money's worth and the neighbors are usually ok too. Been there twice this year, and several times in previous years. This year also with a dog. There is absolutely nothing to complain about.

Pure camping
We stayed at this campsite for 2 weeks. Very nice operators. We have been campers since 1980, but this site is by far the best for rest and relaxation. No frills. Large, well-kept pitches with water and waste water. Clean sanitary facilities. Well-kept grounds. Ems and Dortmund-Ems Canal nearby. Great for cycling.

DAB radio reception was very weak and D1 network was very poor. But the tenant offers good wifi. It was free of charge during our visit.
A really nice week
I didn't really want to rate this campsite because it really is an insider tip. The site is located directly on the River Ems. The pitches are quite large, I estimate around 150 square meters. Electricity, water and waste water are available at every pitch. The pitches are marked out by small hedges,... which adds to the overall atmosphere.
The only sanitary building has everything you need and the whole place is spotlessly clean. There is a bread roll service and a small store at the entrance.
On the day we arrived, we were given a very warm welcome and a detailed briefing. The manager took a lot of time to inform us about cycle routes and places of interest. The campsite is mainly used by senior citizens and couples. There are no children or teenagers, which seems to be the intention. The surrounding area is easy to explore by bike, and we particularly liked the Bourtange fortress. Papenburg is also a must.
We will definitely be back.

A smaller, but very quiet site. Ideal for vacationers who want to enjoy the peace and quiet.
The pitches are generously sized.
The sanitary facilities look as good as new and were always spotlessly clean.
