- Jan H.May 2024Positiivsed- Great location on and with lots of water - beautiful play hall, small swimming pool and lots of outdoor activitiesNegatiivsed- Too small and too few sanitary facilities - Very (too) short opening hours of the restaurantsGreat facility by the sea with a "but" at the campsiteThe vacation park and campsite are in a fantastic location behind the dyke. The theme of "water" is omnipresent, with canals, boats, bridges and locks everywhere. Every kind of water sport is offered or possible.
Typical for Landal, the park/campsite has an amusement arcade, a small swimming pool, other... sports and games facilities and a golf course.
The campsite, which is not very large, is attached. Also very beautifully situated, partly on canals and watercourses.
The Achilles heel is the sanitary facilities, there is only one building and it is rather old and definitely too small when the campsite is full. We were in the area with private sanitary facilities, but these are also very basic. The simplest little tin huts, with surface-mounted installations and without any storage facilities inside. Ours wasn't even level, the shower water ran out of the shallow shower tray right across the room. The surcharge wasn't high, but it was just about acceptable for us, especially because the sanitary building wasn't that great either.
We were also surprised by the very short opening hours of the restaurants and stores in the resort. Even on the Whitsun weekend, when the park was busy, the restaurants closed at 19:30 and the ice cream stand was the last to close at 20:00. It's a few kilometers to the nearest town, we almost got caught on the day we arrived and our stomachs would have remained empty...
The course has an 18-hole golf course, I can't say anything about its quality, but 9 holes of it can be played in parallel with "football golf", which was great fun!
Basically, we would definitely like to come back one day, then with a boat or SUP, it would be nice if the operator invested some money in the infrastructure.Automaatselt tõlgitud. - Melanie W.May 2024PositiivsedQuiet placeNegatiivsedCleanliness!Campsite with some deductions! We stayed at the campsite with the family and our dog.
The park and the campsite are beautifully situated.
Great for cycling and relaxing. The campsite is spacious so that everyone has their privacy.
Unfortunately, the sanitary building on the campsite was often very dirty and was often only cleaned superficially!Automaatselt tõlgitud. - Guntram H.September 2019Positiivsed+ a very inexpensive place out of season + you can use the resort's indoor poolNegatiivsed* not many possibilities apart from golfing, cycling * the coordinates given are WRONG (correct: N 53.37551 | E 6.15894)at the end of the world! The campsite is an annexe of a Landal resort on the Lauwersmeer. The pitches on offer are huge and all supplied with electricity and water. The sanitary facilities are definitely too small for such a size. However, it was obviously not designed for the campsite but for the adjacent pitch & put golf course.... We were there in mid-September and it was sufficient for us because there were hardly any more guests (about 15). It's impossible to say how busy it will be during the season, but there are certainly problems with this small site. There is a store in the Landal Resorts where you can get supplies. There wasn't much on offer in terms of catering at this time (although there was; but if there are no people there, there isn't much there either). This place is a one-shift operation! Take a walk, go cycling. Cultivate idleness.Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- Rainer H.May 2019PositiivsedGreat gaming paradiseNegatiivsedOld, unkempt sanitary building that could not cope with the crowds. Unkempt pitchesUnfortunately below the general standardWe spent 4 nights at Landal Esonstad with 3 children (5 and 7 years) over Ascension Day. The place was fully booked. Unfortunately, what some reviewers had already feared happened. Both the sanitary building and the flushing facilities and disposal stations were completely overloaded. The cleaning definitely... left a lot to be desired. Additional sanitary containers provided some relief. However, these were also in a very dirty condition. Due to the camping boom in recent years, many campsites in Holland and Germany have invested. This does not seem to have happened in Esonstad. Unfortunately, the grass on the pitches was so long that small children sometimes stumbled over it. As the campsite is located virtually in front of the 'fortress town', you have to plan a longer walk (5 minutes by bike) to reach the supply points such as supermarket, restaurant, etc.. As the supermarket, including bread rolls, only opens at 8 a.m. and the entire vacation home area also shops here, there can sometimes be very long queues. The indoor playground and the indoor swimming pool are again right at the entrance to the vacation park, so you can easily reach them on foot. The playground was an enrichment for our children, whereas the indoor pool was rather small and well laid out. Unfortunately, many of the entertainment activities were associated with additional costs and the mini disco was almost lost as the music was very quiet. As previously mentioned, the whole resort is quite remote. However, you can reach the village of Anjum after about 3 km via beautiful cycle paths. The nearest larger town is Dokkum (approx. 15 km) where there are also other shopping facilities. All in all, we unfortunately had to realize that the negative points outweigh the positive ones and we will not come back. In the past we have visited several camping parks in Holland due to our proximity to the border and unfortunately Landal Esonstad is at the bottom of the ratings. Even if it is a bit cheaper compared to other vacation parks, the basic requirements such as cleaning and garden maintenance should be given. Too bad, Landal :-(Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- Stephanie A.April 2019PositiivsedLeisure facilities in the park Large pitches Games hallNegatiivsedSomewhat remoteA great week for everyoneWe experienced the campsite in glorious sunshine over Easter. The pitches are huge, the facilities are great! The swimming pool is good, especially for younger children, and the games hall is great! Even our 12 year old was thrilled!Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- Gordon S.October 2018PositiivsedAnimation, quiet, very well maintained!NegatiivsedWifi ( too slow )We liked it a lotAll pitches with electricity and water connections, very flat areas, the sanitary facilities are very clean. Ideal for families, there is plenty to do for the little ones (climbing hall, swimming pool, entertainment, building huts, etc.) In the evenings there is a campfire on the beach with popcorn,... so a lot of effort is made, the adults can take golf courses. The only thing you can complain about is the lack of taps in the showers (the water was too cold for me) and the free wifi is much too slow or doesn't work at all.Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- Birgit C.May 2018PositiivsedWide range of leisure activitiesNegatiivsedMost of the pitches had no grass grids. When it rained, the only thing that helped was the tractor ...Beautiful facility ... we will be backBeautiful facility ... We will be back Many leisure activities in the neighboring Landal Park. - Heinz S.May 2018PositiivsedEverything that is available on the course and in the registration area can be used free of chargeNegatiivsedhave not found anyhenry 41Very quiet place What you need is available, toilets were clean, the pitch was big enough for us and clean, the bird life woke us up in the morning which we liked! - Carlos M.May 2018Positiivsed- quiet, clean (low season) - Location to the ferry port - Cycling - Swimming/lawn in the Lauwersmeer directly behind the campsiteNegatiivsed- Relatively expensive - Sanitary high season ?Commercial site, high price level, OK in low seasonThe site is very nice and quiet on the edge of a vacation home settlement. Sanitary facilities good and clean in the low season, probably not sufficient for the high season. Relatively expensive: 1 person - motorhome = 25 EUR/day. Supermarket in the complex expensive (large bread roll 90 cents), but... supermarket in the village about 2 km away OK. Schiermannikoog ferry port approx. 9 km away. Swimming pool included in the price (but not used). Commercial management (all correct and friendly). To explore Schiermannikoog the place is fine. I would not stay longer.Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- Michael N.April 2018PositiivsedEverything you need is thereNegatiivsedNoneFamily campingVery nice place in the middle of nowhere but everything you need is there, super large indoor play hall, indoor swimming pool, everything included in the price, the children can spend the whole day, super large pitches with water and electricity, very good price-performance ratio for families.Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- Thorsten M.March 2018PositiivsedBeautiful swimming pool, top children's entertainment, beautiful locationNegatiivsedFor campers only a sanitary house, cleanliness of the sanitary facilities could be betterTOP Easter vacationThe swimming pool and children's entertainment program is great, the park itself invites you to go for walks. "Esonstad is built like a small town and is located directly on the water.there are various restaurants in the park. The only drawback is that there is only one toilet block for the campsite and it could be cleaner.Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- Daniel K.September 2017PositiivsedThere are great play facilities for the children. Great swimming pool. Large pitches.NegatiivsedThe toilets and showers could have been a bit cleaner. The flushing facilities were only undercover. There were too many mosquitoes in the summer.Beautiful placeWe were at the campsite with the children in September 2017. Landal is just great for the kids. There is a nice swimming pool, great playgrounds, for the little ones the Bollo bear which is great fun and a large air trampoline. The campsite is a bit away from the resort, but that didn't bother us. Shopping facilities are in the next village, about 3 km away. Great spacious pitches. Very friendly staff.Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- WB B.August 2017PositiivsedBeautiful location, spacious pitches, beautiful golf course, ideal for cyclingNegatiivsedMaintenance of the pitch and sanitary facilitiesSanitary building is not cleaned properlyThe staff is very young, friendly and helpful. The sanitary facilities leave a lot to be desired, it smells unpleasant, the soap and paper are constantly empty and the floor is always dirty. The campsite is not for children aged 10 and over, there is only a bouncy cushion and a basketball hoop. Unfortunately,... the entertainment is mainly in Dutch. Swimming in the Leuwersmeer is not so nice. Lots of mosquitoes, very dark water, very slippery bottom.Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- Björn B.April 2017PositiivsedSwimming poolGood price-performance ratioIn the low season it was a quiet place with a good price-performance ratio. Otherwise we agree with the two previous reviews. The indoor playground is only for very small children, our 8 year old had little interest.Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- Heiko R.April 2017PositiivsedLarge seats Friendly staffNegatiivsedSwimming pool not cleanNice place but with compromisesNice campsite, in quiet surroundings. The sanitary building is clean and OK, but there is only one wash house for the whole campsite. There is a lot on offer for children, which should be noted here, everything is a lot smaller than is usual in other Landal Parks. There is a deduction for the swimming... pool, which is unfortunately not clean, the floor of the pool was dirty, which is due to poor cleaning. Apart from that, the price/performance ratio is good.Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- Rolf M.May 2016Positiivsedreasonably priced great swimming pool large pitchesNegatiivsedloud Waiting time in many areasParty mile at the weekendComing from the highway, you will have to travel another 50 km of country road if you are also traveling via the A28 (Oldenburg/Leer). Thanks to the many traffic circles, you should allow a good 45 minutes for this. Arrival and access to the site are also possible for large caravans or camper vans. Both... the basic and comfort pitches are spacious and have no hedges to "separate" them from each other. The basic pitches are closer to the road and only have a central water supply. The comfort pitches are a little quieter and have their own water supply. Waste water for both only per pitch. According to its own information, Esonstad has a total of 129 pitches but only one (!) sanitary building. This means 4 showers and 4 toilets for men. The situation is similar for the women. It's guaranteed to be cramped here. Showering is included in the price. The temperature is fixed. Everything is clean, but "only" functional. We liked the fact that there are individual washing areas with electricity and hot water. Soap and a hand dryer by the toilets. Unfortunately, the washing-up areas are all outside the sanitary building. The swimming pool is a pleasant size. Everything looks well maintained. There is a whirlpool, a steam sauna (approx. 35°) and a Finnish sauna. Both have to be switched on by the bathers themselves before use and are supposed to be hot 10 minutes later. Every sauna-goer presses this button and goes swimming again. The next person, 2 minutes later, presses it again. It is not possible to tell whether you have now switched it on or off. In addition, it was not much warmer 10 minutes later. So it was practically off most days. Very unfortunate. If you like, you can even play golf. The course is directly adjacent to the campsite. However, due to the strong wind, most people were busy looking for the ball. That's why we didn't try it out. On the other side is a natural gas field with a 50m chimney. By the way, you can hear the exhaust noise right up to the campsite. The site (with many associated vacation homes) is surrounded by water and ideal for water sports enthusiasts. Unfortunately, large groups of water sports enthusiasts met at the campsite at the weekend and partied late into the night. Even when washing up, a portable sound blaster entertained all the pitches. Esonstad was definitely the loudest campsite we have ever visited. It's a shame that the operators condone this. You can do your shopping in the vacation home village. There are no facilities on the campsite itself. However, there is only one (!) checkout in the supermarket for all customers of the 129 pitches and at least as many vacation homes. One word: PATIENCE! We switched to the large Coop in Anjum (approx. 2.5 km). Here everything costs half the price, much more choice, free WLAN. Certainly doesn't take any longer. Conclusion: Sorry, others can do much better. Also far too noisy at the weekend. Whether shopping or sauna. Half-hearted.Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- Hartmut L.September 2015PositiivsedSwimming pool and wellness area accessible by key.NegatiivsedMore lonely than quiet in the low season!Quiet and comfortable in the low seasonIn the low season, the price-performance ratio is positive. The surrounding area is easy to explore by bike. Nearest supermarket (coop) approx. 4 km away. The restaurants at the resort close quite early in the low season.Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- An U.August 2014PositiivsedClose to the Lauwersmeer; sailing and boatingNegatiivsedNo swimming in the sea possible; many mosquitoesNot againFriendly staff and new sanitary facilities, but without soap and little toilet paper; swimming in the sea impossible because of bacteria, unfortunately no indication when booking, although the problem has been known for some time; also many mosquitoes because of stagnant waterAutomaatselt tõlgitud.
- Ralf J.June 2014PositiivsedCentrally located for exploring the surrounding area by bike or car. Very well-kept complex with friendly staff.Negatiivsedn/aAgain and againWe were at Landal Park over Whitsun. We, two adults and two grandchildren, liked it very much. We can't complain about insufficient cleanliness or mosquitoes. The pitch size was more than adequate, with four pitches in the middle.Automaatselt tõlgitud.
- Sabine B.April 2014Beautifully landscaped site with small (water canals) in it.Spacious pitches, all with water connection. The sanitary facilities seemed new, but I didn't find them really clean. the gas torch behind it didn't bother me. the swimming pool of the Landalpark can be used free of charge. conclusion: Especially suitable for families with small children (up to 10 years)! For older children this is nothing more.Automaatselt tõlgitud.
