We chose this well-rated campsite to explore the surroundings of Spital/Döbriach (no beach vacation). We wanted to explore the special features/attractions of the area on the internet. That shouldn't be a problem, as the campsite advertises a fast... fiber optic network and extremely fast WiFi.
Our conclusion:
An ideal campsite for vacations with children. Lots of play facilities and an entertainment program for children. Well-equipped sanitary facilities with separate youth areas (6 - 14 years).
Major drawback:
WLAN worked completely inadequately for 3 days: it took several attempts to connect to the internet and when this was finally achieved, the connection was catastrophically poor: on the 1st day download/upload speed: 1.4/0.2 Mbps. Speeds were faster in the last millennium. I reported the problem to reception and was promised that a technician would take care of it. Unfortunately, nothing got better. 2nd day: Down/Up: 1.51/0.26 Mbps and 3rd day: 0.82/0.28 Mbps. When we decided to travel to Camping Burgstaller, I of course read the reviews in advance and in addition to the mostly... great reviews, I also read the bad ones.
The sanitary facilities are a real highlight and the cleanliness is impeccable, and the cleaning staff deserve a lot of praise.
You can really see at first glance how much passion and dedication there is behind this place and how hard the family who run it and the employees work here.
As mentioned at the beginning, things are different for us as we have two disabled children and things like tolerance and understanding are not a matter of course for us.
We have nothing but positive things to say about Camping Burgstaller and everyone from reception to the manager is super friendly and helpful.
We have rarely seen our children as happy as at Camping Burgstaller, whether in the Burgstaller Express with the boss, in the lido or in the entertainment program of Fabienne and her great team.Käännetty automaattisesti.

But you don't really feel welcome as a dog owner at Burgstaller. One suggestion for improvement: the new mud playground lacks a sun awning, both for the children and for the parents.Still a great campsiteThis was our 2nd time at Burgstaller. It is still one of the best places we have ever visited. Probably even the best in terms of sanitary facilities. Plus the very, very good leisure program and leisure activities for children. But not only for the children, the adults are also catered for. There's... no need to write anything about the great location on Lake Millstatt, it's fantastic.
But here's what we noticed this year, in contrast to last year. First of all, we are dog owners and were there for the 2nd time with our dog. The site is littered with signs prohibiting dogs. They're not allowed to go here, they're not allowed to go there, they're not allowed to pee there, they're not allowed to pick up their droppings, etc. Everything is correct, and for us as dog owners it goes without saying. But as a dog owner, you don't really feel welcome. In addition, during our stay, the boss posted 2 times on the campsite's social media
about no longer accepting dogs from next season. We would find it a shame and would unfortunately no longer travel to Burgstaller. But apart from that, it's a great campsite. Keep up the good work.Käännetty automaattisesti.

The children had a lot of fun.Käännetty automaattisesti.- Karina S.August 2023Positiiviset- Exceptional sanitary facilitiesNegatiiviset- Very narrow for maneuvering into the side streets - Lots of traffic/ congestion on the main entrance road in the squareWorth seeing onceWe arrived at the campsite at night during the peak travel season in August and were able to park in a blue marked area in front of the barrier. After checking in, we had a look at our pitch. For the best and largest category, it was very hilly and only big enough for a caravan (7.50 m long) with awning... and car. As we were not satisfied, I asked the lady at reception if there was perhaps another alternative. I was shocked by the answer! The reply was very unfriendly: "I'll give you your deposit back, move on"! After I was speechless at first and said that we had reserved for two families and I didn't want to go any further, I was again only told "return the deposit and go on, there would be enough people who would like to come to the pitch".
It was almost clear to me that the chances were zero at peak travel time, but the tone and manner were absolutely wrong. So, disappointed, we set off with our trailer in the direction of the pitch. At the first turning we had to pull off, like many others, as there was no way to pull out due to kerbs and hedges. This often resulted in traffic jams for vehicles and pedestrians blocking the passage. So if you want to have it quieter, you have to take the side streets.
The walk to the lake was quite long, as you first had to cross a road, then about 500 m through a "park" to the outdoor pool. There were two of them, which were of course very full in August. Your arms can get very long when you're packed.
But I could have found that out beforehand, it's not the site's fault.
The sanitary facilities are worth seeing, exceptional and something special.
At some point, it's just good with advertising.

I don't know how you managed to cover a distance of 500 meters through our spa gardens measuring approx. 50x70 meters. According to Pytagoras, this is not even possible on the longest possible path, the diagonal, even with the greatest lack of orientation, since with a2+b2=c2 this... is a maximum of 86 meters. Perhaps you are confusing the Döbriacher Kurpark with Central Park and actually ended up in New York....
May I remind you that for your arrival on 19.8. - one of the biggest arrival days of the 2023 season - you only booked on 30.3. after we were able to offer you the last, believe it or not, 3 pitches in the Cat. Large pitches and had therefore advised you to perhaps switch to a normal pitch after all, as there was still a larger selection available in this category at the time. No, although you had never stayed with us before and didn't know the pitch at all, you even chose exactly the 435 yourself. Of course, I understand that when you arrived you would have liked to stand next to your sister (the Schindler family) instead and then very cleverly thought up a way to make a fuss about the suddenly oh-so-miserable pitch 435 in the full reception area and scramble around so that you could move closer to your relatives. However, if everything is full at this time of year, then my receptionists can jump up and down with you - but that won't change the full occupancy and has nothing to do with the friendliness or unfriendliness of the staff.
Finally, I would like to tell you that if you want to have a quieter stay, you don't have to take the side streets, but perhaps you shouldn't arrive on one of the busiest arrival days of the year and then be surprised that other people are also on vacation.

We really enjoyed it. The children were thrilled, we parents relaxed and our dog also got his money's worth because he was allowed to swim in the lake (access by the river).
We hardly got to see our pooch,... we had really missed him, but the new buddies were more important than us.
The rock concert in the evening on the stage with "The Strongbow" was meeeeeegaaaaaa, 3.5 hours of great entertainment.
The children's program is also great. Our daughter really enjoyed the Indian forest. At "Tobi sucht den Campingstar" the children were able to show off their talent and it was very entertaining.
It's a great idea that you can borrow bikes for free.
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, whether at reception or out and about.

And we have to say it was SUPER!!! We would like to thank the entire team for a wonderful 14-day vacation in Carinthia. Both the team at the reception and the team on the pitch were ALWAYS friendly and helpful. We would also like to thank the cleaning team. The sanitary... blocks were ALWAYS in top condition. No matter what time of day you were there. And of course the wash houses are a sensation. But the campsite doesn't just have these wash houses to offer.
It is also fantastic what is on offer for children and adults. The weekly program is brilliant and varied.
We liked it so much that we will be back in Carinthia next summer at Burgstaller. :))

From the moment we arrived we were made to feel very welcome and the whole team were extremely... friendly and accommodating during our stay. The relaxed atmosphere on the site immediately made us feel at home.
Our pitch (782) was simply fantastic! With a breathtaking view and the proximity to the lake, we were able to enjoy the beautiful nature to the fullest.
We were impressed by the variety of leisure activities on offer. Whether water sports or hiking, there was something for everyone! The entertainment for the children was fantastic - our little ones had a lot of fun and made new friends.
The sanitary facilities were always clean and well-maintained, which made camping a pleasant experience. The campsite facilities also left nothing to be desired.
We can recommend Camping Burgstaller without reservation! Our time here was simply unforgettable and we are grateful for this wonderful experience. We are already looking forward to our next visit.

But if you think about it, the Burgstaller family and their employees are only partially responsible. If the sanitary facilities are dirty, it's probably not the ladies who spend the whole day... trying to keep them clean, but rather the guests who don't know what to do. The whole team goes to so much trouble to give us a good time. This is the 13th time I've come to Burgsatllers this year and I've always left feeling relaxed and satisfied. As I said, if you want to find something, you will find something. Yes, I don't think some of the rules are quite so good either, but maybe you just have to put yourself in the shoes of the Burgstall team. Then some things might become clearer. I can recommend this place to anyone with small children, it is unbeatable and well worth a visit.
We always enjoy coming here, but we don't get hung up on individual words, we enjoy the whole thing.
