Whether from the bathing jetty, from the platforms by the water, from the former bridge... Every view is different and unique.NegatiivisetThat you have to drive again at some point...A wonderful piece of earthThis natural campsite is a wonderful piece of land. The location alone speaks for itself. An idyllic place, just like in a picture book, for example if you paddle upstream in a canoe (which you can hire there) on the quiet dammed river. Where the beaver lives and the little cat says goodnight in the... evening...
In the morning you can help yourself to the varied breakfast buffet or simply pick up your bread rolls at reception. The young couple who took over the campsite this year are friendly and highly motivated to fulfill all your wishes and make the campsite even more beautiful. The covered outdoor kitchen is functional for washing up and cooking and has some kitchen equipment that you can use. The sanitary facilities are clean, simple and basic.

It extends over 3 areas that merge into one another (see aerial photo): Pitches near the sanitary facilities, the hostel and utilities, an area with pitches in a meadow and directly by the river Rottnan and the "wilderness camp" in the forest and by the river.... A limited number of pitches with electricity are available in all areas. You should bring at least a 40 m cable reel - plus an extension if necessary.
The German-speaking operators are very friendly, uncomplicated and helpful. Even as a solo camper, you feel welcome and completely at ease in a family atmosphere. The site is equally suitable for motorhomes and camper vans (preferably self-sufficient). Roof tent and tent campers can also be found here.
Sanitary facilities are generally simple but clean. If you expect golden taps and a spa atmosphere in a nature camp, you're wrong, but it's your own fault.
For canoeists and kayakers, the Rottnan, which flows quite slowly in summer, is a beautiful spot.
Excursion tips: Kongsvinger with its fortress in Norway, the Sunne - Gräsmark region and the country store in nearby Lekvattnet with delicious goat's cheese.
What could be improved: A small snack bar or kiosk would be great.

Here are a few impressions and pictures to whet your appetite. Location: The location has already been described here several times. The campsite is located in the small village of Marbacken in Finnskogen (Finn Forest, named after... the forest Finns (Skogfinner) who emigrated there in the 16th century), a large forest area that stretches across the border to Norway. The Rottnanälven, which is dammed by a weir about 12 km to the south, flows directly by the site, so that it really looks more like an elongated lake. The nearest town with good tourist facilities and all the necessary supermarkets is Torsby (about 17 km away and can be reached via a well-developed road). Site infrastructure: The service buildings are located at the front of the site and there are also 2 stugor (small cabins) for rent. There is also a larger meadow area for camping and a hostel. In the adjoining area for "nature camping" you will find a wooded area with non-parceled pitches. The size and location varies greatly, and we were given a pitch in an excellent location. However, it must be clearly stated that all available pitches in the lush tree population and close to the river offer excellent recreational value. Electricity is available everywhere, provided you have enough cables with you, and if something is missing, the operators are happy to help (more on this later). The pitches are well surfaced and mostly flat. Not all of the pitches were big enough for our 13-metre vehicle, but in case of doubt there are meadow areas where there is room for everything. Many pitches are equipped with a fire pit, but there are also communal campfire areas, one of which is also covered. Conclusion: good infrastructure. Sanitary facilities/hygiene: Anyone who has already traveled to a few campsites in Sweden will find exactly the same standard of sanitary facilities as on many other campsites: simple and practical. In this case, however, the really excellent cleanliness should be emphasized - even if there are unfortunately always campers who don't pay attention, the operators keep the facilities very clean and tidy. There is also the possibility to dispose of waste (chemical toilet) and to wash up (covered) at the toilet block. Leisure activities: Canoeing: is possible directly at the campsite, the Rottnanälven is very easy to navigate and offers great experiences, just south of the campsite you will come across the first beaver lodge. Canoes and boats are available at the campsite. Hiking: We were particularly impressed by a hike through the Hovfjället (about 20 km from Torsby). A trip to this ski area is also worthwhile for hiking in summer, but the "hiking trails" marked out there are only recommended if you can climb up or down a slope on all fours. All in all, Finnskogen offers great hiking opportunities. Swimming: There are many places from the campsite where you can easily get into the river, but not all bank areas are suitable, as a layer of mud sometimes hinders your progress. As in many Swedish rivers, the water is brownish in color, but this does not detract from the enjoyment of swimming. We swam almost every day, although the temperature of the water fluctuated, but was always in the "pleasant" range. Fishing: The possibilities for this are very extensive after purchasing the "fikekort" (permit). I have mainly fished directly from our campsite, but the map also allows you to fish many lakes in the surrounding area. I would particularly recommend Runnsjön (best reached via Östemark), which is beautifully situated and offers char and trout. In the river by the campsite, I have caught some very nice bream, pike, perch and a burbot. A tip for fishing enthusiasts: artificial bait works rather poorly, as there is a lot of wood and tree stumps under the surface of the water and the fish don't bite well on them. Natural bait and baitfish were extremely good! Chillaxing: To use this newly formed artificial word - it's exactly what you do best on this spot. Whether you're lying in the sun in a hammock or spending romantic hours around the campfire in the evening, .... is simply relaxing. And after a short time, you can hardly hear the engine noise from the road. Of course, the peace and quiet also depends on the current campers, so you can experience such and such..... Operators: Gaby & Mirek are actually the main feature of the campsite, as they make every effort to maintain good contact with everyone and try to help with all needs (lending cables, transporting canoes, etc.). We found them, as well as all the other campers, always helpful and courteous, which had a very positive impact on the quality of the camping experience. Conclusion: An absolutely great place if you are looking for peace and relaxation, but there is also plenty on offer for children. The front part is supplied with electricity and is also suitable for larger caravans and motorhomes. The rear part is pure nature camping. Suitable for tents and cars with tent structures, as the passage is narrower. You can choose your own pitch, as... there is no parcelling, a system we very much approve of. The campsite is located directly on a wonderful lake-like river. Canoes can be hired all day for little money and are a pleasure in this environment. The canoe trip was absolutely great. The sanitary facilities are not luxurious, but they serve their purpose. Free WiFi is available around the reception (access must be requested). The couple put their heart and soul into running this campsite and are very friendly and helpful. We were also able to hire canoes outside of opening hours. The campsite has a total of 14 fireplaces. We (2 people and a dog) actually only wanted to stay for a few days. But that turned into ten nights. Because the location was really fantastic. The campsite is located directly in the forest on a wide, slow-flowing river (a great fishing spot for both... peaceful and predatory fish). Arriving in the off-season, we thought we were camping "wild" all alone in a forest, but with all the amenities of a campsite (take a long extension cable - 50 meters - with you as a precaution). There is a fire pit with a barbecue grill at almost every pitch. Even during the day you could enjoy the sounds of the forest and walk through the woods with the dog. We were also able to pick lots of porcini mushrooms, cranberries and blueberries. We were able to paddle down the river in the canoes provided. At night you can see the starry sky without light pollution. It is even possible to see auroras in the fall and spring. Unfortunately, we were not lucky enough to see this phenomenon. The full moon was simply far too bright:((. The stay was made even sweeter by the super nice operators (Gabi and Mirek). Gabi and Mirek really do everything they can to make your stay a unique experience. The sanitary facilities are simple but always very clean. But are they adequate in high season? The sinks are covered and all have a hot water supply. The showers are in the main building and were always clean. You can order bread rolls from Gabi. However, you have to drive to Torsby (about 15 kilometers) to do your shopping. In short, if you like nature and are looking for solitude without the fuss, this campsite is just right for you. Even a well-socialized dog is allowed to run around the site without a lead - I've never experienced anything like it! It is located directly on a river that actually has the character of a lake and invites you to go canoeing/kayaking. We were there for a week in September and had planned to camp. However, as it was raining a bit when we arrived, we were offered one of the two cozy stugas available... as an alternative. Equipped with a mini kitchenette (fridge, sink and two hotplates) as well as seating and cozy sleeping facilities under the roof, the hut was just perfect for the two of us and our dog. We especially liked the warmth of the owners. You are in the great outdoors here, you can make campfires, go fishing, boating... The sanitary facilities are simple but very clean. There is a lot to discover... in the surrounding area. There is electricity on almost all pitches (but you should have a cable drum with you). There is a hut for campfires in bad weather as well as a barbecue hut that can be rented. the operators speak fluent German, English and Czech. The secluded paths through the adjacent woods are ideal for hiking or cycling. If you need electricity, you should bring a longer cable for the beautiful spots by the... water. The friendliness was already unbeatable with the previous operators and is also unbeatable with the current operators. I can confidently say that this campsite was our personal highlight of this vacation and one that we still think about often. The campsite is beautifully situated on a lake. The nature campsite is not parceled out, the pitches by the lake are more... like clearings in the forest. There are lots of pitches right by the lake. You can fish practically from the pitch. The other pitches are also very beautiful and you have a wonderful view over the lake from all the pitches. In addition to the pitches by the lake, there are two meadows with pitches (not parceled out). Each pitch has its own fireplace. Firewood can be collected almost effortlessly in the forest or bought cheaply on site. The sanitary facilities are simple, but very well maintained. In general, the entire site is very well maintained and we immediately felt very comfortable. If it rains, you can also barbecue in a cozy barbecue hut. The site also has a hikers' hostel. The campsite operators are extremely accommodating and very friendly. The campsite is not far from the town of Torsby. The town is far enough away not to hear or hear about it and close enough to be able to buy everything you want quickly.
