- Gunnar N.October 2018Dobre straneStarry sky; campfire; closeness to nature; clean sanitary facilitiesNegativne straneToo few showers and sinks; outdated toilets;Simple, but beautifulFrom Heimbach train station, walk approx. 1.5 km to the campsite entrance. After passing the permanent campsites (approx. 300 m), you first come to the parceled-out pitches and then to the tent meadow, which stretches between the Rur and the mountainside. There are plenty of electricity connections and... water taps. At our tent meeting with night temperatures between +2°C and +5°C, the power consumption for 2 - 4 nights fluctuated between 2 and 26 Kwh depending on the continuous use of fan heaters, electric blankets, cool boxes etc.. You don't actually need a cool box, the Rur next to the tent pitch is knee-deep at most and only 8°C warm. Pack your food and drinks in a waterproof bag, put it in a canvas bag and tie it to the riverbank bushes/trees with string, and the natural cooling is perfect! The tent meadow is only sparsely lit until midnight, then not at all. This is the perfect way to observe the starry sky. It is a relatively long walk from the tent meadow to the sanitary facilities (approx. 300 m). The toilets have no toilet seats, but are easy for the campsite operator to clean! There are only 2 shower cubicles in the washrooms. Shower coins have to be bought at reception and last for approx. 5 minutes. There are only 2 sinks for washing up! Early risers don't need an alarm clock. This is done by the train, which passes opposite the tent meadow every hour from 5.44 am to 9.17 pm and has to whistle twice because of 1 unrestricted field path crossing. Campfires are permitted at the fire pits on the tent meadow, firewood can be purchased in the bistro. During our tent meeting, the bistro, where you can get bread rolls (rolls!) and eggs or have breakfast or a small snack, was only open on public holidays and at weekends. At night you can hear owls and foxes from the nearby forest.Automatski prevedeno.
- Peter B.June 2016Dobre straneLarge meadow directly on the RurNegativne straneVERY unfriendly site operator, electricity consumption is not billed correctlyNice place BUT!We were with a large group on this site, as we wanted to arrive relatively "late" on Fridays, I called them a week in advance. I've never experienced anything so unfriendly - how does the site operator earn his money? with us campers or what? The site itself is quite nice, has a nice large meadow at... the back with some electricity and water connections and is located directly on the Rur. The sanitary facilities are old but clean and there is a small bistro. The electricity is also one of those things, we were there for 2 days, the fridge ran on gas so we only had a short chain of lights, light in the caravan and TV for about 30 minutes in the evening, and we used 10kw for that? ha ha unfortunately I didn't check the meter reading on arrival. The pitch fee can only be paid in cash "they are a service company, that's how it would be" We won't be going back to this site, it's a shame when such unfriendly, arrogant site operators spoil a site like this.Automatski prevedeno.

- Maike W.June 2016Dobre straneThe location on the Rur is beautifulNegativne straneThe operatorsNever again!By far the most unfriendly and rude campsite I have ever been to! You are insulted and abused by the owners - where it is pointed out everywhere! I have never experienced anything like it! If you offer a meadow for campers/short stay visitors then it should be mowed! And don't mow across the meadow on... Saturday mornings so that visitors are disturbed! The garbage disposal takes place via an open container, which could already be smelled at a distance of 500m and is full of bees, wasps and mosquitoes! Toilets - dirty without end! No toilet seats there! Garbage cans without bin liners! Shower rooms and washbasins locked from 10 pm! The absolute no-go in my eyes is that the entire campsite is not illuminated and there are no garbage cans or ashtrays anywhere! The bread rolls were rock hard and completely overpriced! Yesterday we wanted to celebrate our birthday & we couldn't because the owner refused to let our visitor in because he asked why he had to pay €2! My conclusion: never again! If it were possible, I wouldn't give it a star!Automatski prevedeno.
- Andreas S.May 2016Dobre stranePossible location directly on the river when there is not much going onNegativne stranethe railroad with regular signal horn, on some days rather a party meadowpossible directly on the river, unfortunately too loudIf there is not much going on, a nice spot on the Rur is possible. During the week, the train runs directly opposite and regularly gives the signal from 6.00 am and everyone is awake. This happens every hour, the train does not run at night. It should not be used on public holidays, as there is more... of a folk festival, youth groups, volunteer fire department, party tents with music, etc., is probably normal here. This is probably normal here. Sanitary facilities are getting on in years, there was too little water pressure in the women's showers, at some point it also gets warm.Automatski prevedeno.
- Martin R.September 2015Negativne straneNoise problem, extremely poor managementIn any case, look for another placeWe also stayed at this campsite for 3 nights at the end of September 2015 and wondered afterwards why we hadn't chosen a different campsite. We were probably inspired by the sentence on the campsite homepage "You don't need a reservation with us, we always have enough space". During our stay, we realized... why. I was not able to understand the friendliness of the staff described in some reports here. The older lady at reception wasn't grumpy towards us and we were able to have a quick chat about soccer with the older gentleman and the staff in the "bistro" were also friendly. Although we arrived at the pitch during the lunch break, we were allowed to drive onto the pitch despite the barriers being closed instead of having to wait 2 hours in front of the barriers. Nevertheless, the older lady was not friendly either, because when we registered she wanted someone's ID card for the data (as is usual at other campsites). It was only the next day that we realized that the old lady still had our ID card. When we asked her to return our ID, the only answer we got was "You'll only get it back when you leave". NO WAY! Now our departure was already 2 days later, so it wasn't so bad for us, but if we had stayed longer than just 3 nights we would certainly have asked for it back. Withholding an ID card is not an option. Another point of criticism: We were there in the off-season, during which time reception is rarely manned. Arriving guests have to press a button at the entrance barrier, which establishes a telephone connection to the old lady. This can take 2-3 minutes. Why not give short-term guests a key for the barrier in the same way as permanent campers so that they can open the barrier themselves? I don't want to wait 2-3 minutes in front of the barrier just for it to open. It's really badly regulated, you can ask for a deposit for a key like that (and the old lady also had our ID cards). NOT POSSIBLE! The next cheeky thing was the pitches for the guest campers. These are a huge meadow, there are only a few plots and here and there an electricity box. The sentence "We have enough space" is therefore no understatement. The grass was also cut quite short. Nevertheless, at night there is no light source at all on the meadow, everything is pitch black at night. For the electricity boxes, you need someone from the staff (who you first have to call again by pressing the cabinet button, the staff in the form of the old lady or the man are then on site within 20 minutes) to unlock the electricity box for you and there are places all over the meadow where you can still see charcoal remains from a campfire. In the middle of the grass is a black charred circle. There is no "real" barbecue area with seating. Next impertinence: The wash house, which fortunately is right next to the meadow, looks very modern from the outside, but from the inside the furnishings look from the 1980s, in the men's toilets the toilet bowls don't even have toilet seats, you sit with your butt directly on the porcelain. NOT WORTH IT! The showers were fine, you just need shower coins. The sanitary building was clean. Next impertinence: The sanitary building is locked at 22:00 until the morning. NOT POSSIBLE! What happens if you have to go out at night for a "business" that your own toilet in the camper van can't necessarily handle? Or what do tent campers do? There is NO reason to lock the sanitary building at night! Right next to the sanitary building is the bistro, which is only open on Fridays and Saturdays (perhaps because it's the off-season). You can drink your beer there and soccer is also broadcast, which was all okay. Another negative thing I noticed was the location of the campsite itself: The guest meadow borders on the river Rur, on the other side of the river there is a winding road which is often used by motorcyclists (noise). And directly behind this road is a railroad line, where a train passes every half hour and honks loudly every time(!) (probably ordered by a signal to the train driver). The earliest train leaves around 6:00 am (woken up by train horn, yay...), the last train in the evening around 11:30 pm. It's nice if you've already fallen asleep at that time and are woken up by the train. Conclusion: noise problem + extremely poor management = no thanks, never again!Automatski prevedeno.
- Michael A.August 2015Dobre straneLocation, view, directly on the riverNegativne straneUnfriendly owners, old and unclean toilets, unkempt camping meadowUnfortunately the wrong owners....We wanted to stay at this campsite for four days. The location is really beautiful. Right on the river... Lots of potential. We left after two days. On the second evening, about 20 permanent campers gathered on the camping meadow and organized a "birthday party". Huge fire, loud music.... All the smoke... drifted in our direction and accordingly into our clothes and caravan. When I called the site manager at 10:15 pm and asked if he could do anything, the owner grumbled at me and simply hung up. I called again 30 minutes later. This time I had the son on the phone, who told me that there was nothing he could do about the weather. On departure there was a huge discussion and we were treated very rudely. We will definitely not visit this campsite a second time under this management. It's a shame that such a beautiful campsite can deteriorate like this under the wrong management....Automatski prevedeno.
- David O.April 2015Dobre straneFree choice of seats, campfireNegativne stranenoneGreat campsiteWe are often here at this campsite. The nice thing here is that there are no pitches (tourists) but a huge meadow and you can pitch wherever you like. The site is ideal for youth groups who want to party a little, but also for older people looking for peace and quiet. It may seem contradictory at first,... but the free choice of pitch means you can escape the noise :) You can also make a campfire here, wherever you want, which is very rare. We still come here very often. And on the subject of the staff, who are rated poorly here: You should take a more relaxed view, not everyone has a good day! We get on really well with the operators.Automatski prevedeno.
- Frank R.September 2013Have been here 3 times and have been treated very unfriendly by the owner each time, at least not if you have not done anything, threats that we have to leave immediately if I give words again, that can not be it. We won't be coming here again. Predicate reasonable campsite unfortunately very very unfriendly owner...Automatski prevedeno.
- Hans H.August 2013CAUTION*** although it is advertised as dog-friendly, dogs are not allowed according to the owner!!!! Unfriendly, screaming and impertinent alleged owner (at least 90 years old) sat at the information desk and shouted this at me when I wanted to go to the site with my husky Max!!!! Unfortunately there are still people like that - but they are slowly dying out!!! CAUTION***Automatski prevedeno.
- Bernd Z.July 2013We spent two nights here on our way south. You can always find a pitch on the large meadow for tents. However, the walk to the sanitary building can be quite long. The shopping facilities here leave a lot to be desired. The same goes for the friendliness of the operators.Automatski prevedeno.
- Michael H.December 2012"Hospitality and hospitality are very important in Heimbach." it says on the front page. But when we wanted a pitch at short notice from 23.12. to 24.12., we were not too kindly turned away. Well, okay - I can't read "all year round" on the homepage, but permanent campers are there too and we really needed a place to sleep ... Too bad!Automatski prevedeno.

- Silke W.June 2011We spent a lovely Whitsun weekend on the site with a group of 8 people. The atmosphere on the meadow was very pleasant. The tent meadow is very large, mostly unparceled and there was a lot of hustle and bustle (Pentecost), although it was never disturbingly loud despite the different music from different... corners and you could sleep well at night. The loudest thing was the horn of the Rurtalbahn, which runs past the CP (at 6 o'clock in the morning it takes some getting used to). We didn't like the very large area for permanent campers, which you first have to cross to reach the meadow, but that's a matter of taste. The sanitary facilities are located at the beginning of the meadow, which was about 500 m away from our site.there are not too many showers (I think there were 6 per site) and you have to buy shower coins to take a hot shower.one coin costs 90 cents and is enough for 4 1/2 minutes. On the first morning the water was just lukewarm for me (turn the knob to maximum heat), the next day it was hotter.for the men there was only a thin shower jet at times, but it worked.especially considering the number of users, the showers and toilets were very clean. Someone was supposed to come and check the electricity connection for us, which didn't happen (we called again); as we had made arrangements (put the fridge on gas, unpacked the camping lamp), we managed just fine. There was no possibility to buy food on the pitch. I didn't have WLAN reception at reception either (Ipod touch, normally unproblematic). We also found the midday rest very impractical, especially on a weekend like this: you were up late at night, then a morning with the group is quickly over and in no time at all you are no longer allowed to leave the pitch to look at something (or at 5 minutes after 1pm the older lady at reception still opens the barrier, but scolds you loudly afterwards). The lady at reception is also personally my biggest criticism of the campsite - we have been camping for about 15 years. During this time I have never been treated so unfriendly anywhere else and the overall tone was very gruff. 2 members of our group paid on the evening before departure; I wanted to do the same (I've often done this before and it's always worked). The lady then got upset with me, saying that paying the evening before wasn't really possible and then, after a constant tirade of insults, she finished the bill. When I mentioned the situation in the showers described above, she felt personally attacked and my only concern was whether someone could perhaps check again in the next few days whether the pipes were working properly (it doesn't have to be that there are still problems because nobody says anything). She told me that "engineers" had recently been on site - would I question their competence now? .... She got so upset that she wouldn't let anyone pay in advance after me. As I said, I've never experienced such a tone of voice since we've been camping. So I don't think we'll be visiting the site again. Even if it was otherwise a really nice weekend and you don't usually have too much to do with the reception staff, I personally don't want to support such unfriendly behavior.Automatski prevedeno.
- Michael M.April 2011Silke-832's assessment is entirely accurate. The campsite has almost everything you need to make camping a pleasure. If it weren't for the operators.....-:(Automatski prevedeno.
- Holger J.April 2011Tourist pitches (100) are located half a kilometer from the entrance behind the permanent camper pitches (400) between the children's playground and the football pitch. Some pitches are parceled out and have fresh water and waste water connections. Tourists do not receive a card for the barrier. The... specified WLAN only works at the entrance. The toilets have no toilet seats, so you have to sit on the black ceramic; there are no coat hooks. Showers are large and comfortable, but 90 cents per coin. During the day, every Rurtalbahn train passing directly by the site makes a loud noise. Lunchtime rest impractical.Automatski prevedeno.
- Hans H.October 2010Bad as a place for hiking tours, midday rest from 13-15 o'clock and you can't get to your pitch after a hike, which is 600 meters from the entrance. Very bad, or you're gone for the whole day. You shouldn't insult anyone, but I've been treated more kindly.Automatski prevedeno.
- Andreas D.August 2010You can have a great vacation there, it is clean and very reasonably priced simply great will go there more oftenAutomatski prevedeno.
