- Some very run-down permanent camper pitches, making everything look dingy and "weird" - Restaurant not a restaurant, was a tent next to the playground. no fresh food, permanent camper who served was nice, but should have washed his hands beforehand please

I know this place because I used to go there regularly as a child. I wanted to go there again for nostalgic reasons, but unfortunately it wasn't a nice way to refresh my memories.
Please clean up the individual cells (or have them cleaned up), then the place will have a chance again!

Was passing through from Denmark. because of busy road, ended up here.

piece of campsite for temporary stay looks pretty good. however permanent annual pitches is really very sad. broken caravans with dilapidated awnings and ditto gardens. really very sad. bit nasty atmosphere.

this campground sells itself short due to proliferation of permanent campers who have really made a mess of things. never seen so much sadness together.

Quiet place, nice reception
We used the site as a transit site for one night. We were kindly informed beforehand by email that it would be no problem to leave the site by 10 pm. And so it was. Uncomplicated registration. We were allocated a meadow where we were allowed to choose a pitch. Despite the constant rain of the last few... days, the meadow was nice and firm and there was no danger of getting stuck. The sanitary facilities were close by and clean. For us there was nothing to complain about, we felt comfortable. Thank you very much!

Close to highway without corresponding noise. Wonderful nature, very suitable for cyclists. Anglers get their money's worth. Children's playground.

A campsite worth recommending.
Very good as a place to stay overnight, very good as a place for activities (hiking, fishing and cycling). We, a senior couple, got to know an obliging site manager who was always helpful. We actually only wanted to stay overnight, but had to stay longer due to vehicle damage. Simple but clean and functioning... sanitary facilities, a quiet site and the friendly site manager made our stay a pleasant one. Conclusion: If you're not looking for glamping, Camping Aschenbeck near Dötlingen is a great place to stay. Paul-9535

Quiet location with a "rustic" cut
I spent a long weekend on the site. When registering by phone, I pointed out that I preferred a pitch with electricity by the lake, to which they replied that this was not a problem. When I registered, I was told that there was a very active youth group at the lake. So I decided on a meadow. During a... tour, I saw that the group was far away from the desired spot. I also noticed that there was no electricity at the lake. Why is something like this not mentioned in advance? The sanitary facilities are getting on in years, but fully functional and clean. The showers offer enough space and have a partition wall between a room with a bench and coat hooks and the shower room. At 80 cents for a 6-minute shower, the price is slightly above average. You can either wash and/or brush your teeth in the middle of the washroom at a large square basin with several taps (like in the German army) or in individual rooms. Disadvantage: there are only two mirrors with a socket for shaving and not enough storage space. When walking around the site, there are always corners that need a lot of attention.

We were here for a weekend, we could choose the pitch on the meadow itself, the restaurant was very good, sanitary is getting on in years but clean, for larger groups was even a separate area

A quiet place, sanitary outdated but clean. Spent a weekend there in a small group. Permanent campers are separated from short-term campers. Garbage must be strictly separated, certain times is garbage disposal.

Nice place but the operator
We were at the site a week before Easter 2015. No operator present although we had registered at the Essen trade fair and by e-mail. No cell phone number, no answer. In the Aschenbeck Kate (restaurant) asked, because in the brochure the impression is given that it belongs to the campsite but far from... it. They are independent tenants and have nothing to do with the campsite. The restaurant is however to be recommended super kitchen. Now to the operator, after we could register I ordered bread rolls for Sunday. According to the operator, there were only light and grain rolls - so ordered. On Sunday at 9:30 am and at 10 am I was at the kiosk, no operator no bread rolls so I went to the village by bike and bought bread rolls. After 3 days we met the operator and forgot the information. Yes hello we are guests or. Everything else is great there but the operator well. He could have saved the money for his trade fair appearance. Good impression at the fair but quickly destroyed everything.

Good place to spend the night
As the site is very close to the highway, we used it as an overnight stop on our way through. We were able to park the trailer coupled up. Old-fashioned sanitary facilities, but clean. Mainly permanent campers. We can recommend the restaurant in front of the site!

No recommendation for dog owners
Dogs must be kept on a lead at every campsite. Even at Aschenbeck. The owner claims that he does not have to adhere to this. This often leads to threatening situations (as we experienced ourselves). We were only able to fend off an attack by the owner's dogs by using pepper spray. We then canceled our permanent place. Our friends' dog was seriously injured by a dog that was also running loose, so they also gave up.
