Hello textile campers, please don't come here. We are reluctant to write a positive review of a not-so-obvious gem, as we would still like to get hold of a pitch in the future. Nevertheless, we cannot hide the fact that we have found a little underrated gem in Camp Oštro. The... family-run forest campsite offers plenty of shady spots, which are also appreciated by permanent campers from HR, SLO and I. Although the sanitary facilities are a little dated, they are always kept clean. The small supermarket offers the essentials, the Fortuna restaurant and the beach bar leave little to be desired: good and reasonably priced. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful (instead of telling you how to get to an electronics store, they get you the SD card you need). Thank you Besim.
About the surrounding area: Even if the view is of the refinery near Rijeka, the immediate surroundings are more historically interesting than it first appears. A visit to the town of Bakar, about 12 km away at the natural harbor, shows the long history of seafaring on this coast. We also recommend a short hike along a gravel road to Kraljevica to the oldest continuously operated shipyard in the world (since 1729).
We found this place 6 years ago and hope to camp here for many years to come.
PLEASE DO NOT COME!
Leave this place! ;-)

- Andreas H.July 2021PozitívumokI was able to sleep wellNegatívumokan "industrial" campsiteOk for an overnight stayI am a motorcyclist passing through. The site is ok, but not my kind of camping. In this respect, I can neither recommend nor advise against it. Heavily parceled out, lots of campers who want to keep to themselves. Beach heavily concreted.Automatikusan lefordítva.
- Silvia H.August 2020PozitívumokEverything you need on siteNegatívumokPlant already a little olderVery large facilityIt is a very large site, most of the pitches are probably reserved for permanent campers.
Almost all pitches are in the shade, sanitary facilities were clean and have apparently been renovated in recent years.
Otherwise, it is probably a somewhat older site, a renovation would not hurt.
There is everything... on site: restaurant, two bakeries, café, ice cream parlor, small store, bar.
The main beach is concrete, which I personally don't like, but that's probably a matter of opinion.
Perfect for one night.Automatikusan lefordítva. - Sonja S.September 2018Quiet shady campsiteVery pleasant, shady and quiet. Suitable for excursions to Rijeka. Clean sanitary facilities.Automatikusan lefordítva.
- Svenja P.August 2018Pozitívumokshady site, good sanitary facilities, friendly staff, small supermarketbeautiful shady campsite with its own beachWe arrived with bicycles and a tent. Very nice place under trees. Very friendly and helpful staff. There was a small supermarket with everything you need, as well as a bakery and a restaurant. The food was good and not expensive. The sanitary facilities were clean and modern. The sea was mostly accessible... via platforms with steps and ladders, and partly via a stony beach. Everything was clean and tidy. You could snorkel very well in the water and see lots of fish.Automatikusan lefordítva.
- étienne c.July 2018Negatívumoksome tent pitches near the beach a bit tricky due to pebblespleasant surpriseclean, new sanitary facilities, shady pitches, mini-market on site, peace and quietAutomatikusan lefordítva.
- Christoph J.June 2018Pozitívumokgood location; friendly reception; clean; free WLANNegatívumokNothing really, except that the parking spaces are poorly markedGood location for transitWe stayed at this campsite in June 2018 when we were passing through. The location is good if you are traveling towards Plitvice Lakes. We only spent 1 night here. The sanitary facilities were very clean and ok (wash house 1 at pitch 218). The pitches are sometimes difficult to navigate when everything... is full (caravans; camper vans). We were there in the low season and were able to choose a pitch in the defined area. Electricity is provided by the janitor, who has to pull the plug again on the day of departure - a bit awkward. There are also pitches with a sea view or right by the sea. We couldn't find out how to get there, but many are occupied by permanent campers. Beach with coarse gravel, very clear water. Small mini market with the essentials. Restaurant didn't appeal to us. We went to Kabona Remember (approx. 10 minutes' walk) and had a great meal. There is another restaurant and a gelateria on the "sea promenade". Small playground for the little ones.Automatikusan lefordítva.
- Thomas S.May 2018Better than expectedNice place. Everything available and tidy. 80% Slovenians. Dog no problem. Shallow beach with stones and sand (coarse). Shopping facilities on site. Nice small town within 15min walking distance.Automatikusan lefordítva.
- Thomas K.July 2017PozitívumokClose to the sea The lower pitches with water and electricityNegatívumokView of the refinery Water pressure in the showersOK for a short stayI was only there for 2 nights at the end of July, just passing through. I was given a friendly welcome and there were still a few pitches available right by the sea. These were fairly new, level and equipped with electricity and water. The sanitary block looked relatively new and was always clean. However,... the water pressure in the showers left a lot to be desired, women with long hair will probably use the shower cubicles a little longer. WLAN available, but rather weak and you keep getting kicked out. Only a few meters to the natural beach, although the view of the refinery is of course not quite as nice. There was a bakery just around the corner and a small supermarket selling the essentials was also not far away.Automatikusan lefordítva.
- Ladislaus M.August 2016NegatívumokBe careful if you rent one of these cabins. All old and run-down ...The coruption is still omnipresent.Summer 2016 (August) we have chosen this CP. We had to book min 8 days ...ok no departure date was agreed ... open end ... unfortunately there was an event that weekend ... so we were simply kicked out. Never again OstroAutomatikusan lefordítva.
- Joachim G.June 2015Not a particularly good placeMaybe our requirements are too high but this place is not to be recommended. We were on a round trip through Croatia in June and came across this place.Automatikusan lefordítva.
- Tamara M.July 2014Pozitívumokbeautiful plots,NegatívumokWater pressure in the shower head,Nice campsiteIn my opinion the CP is nice. We were there for 1 week in July. The sanitary facilities are clean and well maintained but the water pressure leaves a lot to be desired. Hair washing for women with long thick hair (like me) very unsuitable or difficult. Hot water was also sometimes off, but I didn't experience... this, only noticed it in passing. Otherwise the toilets and showers were always clean. The showers have a small anteroom, so to speak, where you can put your utensils and a small bench to sit on, which I found very pleasant as it's not like that everywhere and your clothes usually get wet because you have to take them straight into the shower. A few more showers wouldn't have been bad either, but I think that's the case with every campsite - there aren't enough showers. There are a few restaurants near the campsite and there is also a bakery. What I really liked was the footpath along the sea. Pitches are sometimes very difficult to navigate because everything is very narrow, the road and the paths. Electricity and water on site. Otherwise spacious pitches. We didn't make a reservation, just went there on luck and got a pitch right by the sea. The staff were also fine, but when changing into Kuna they keep a lot of money, I guess as commission, and there is no bill for it either. Strange. The small sandy beach is ideal for small children and really nice. We always swam on the other side of the trampoline or the wall because it was simply much quieter here on the sandy beach. Unfortunately, you can't choose your neighbors ;-) Also a good campsite for people with dogs, there were lots of them there. The price-performance ratio was right.Automatikusan lefordítva.
- Lorenzo V.July 2014Nice campsiteI stayed at the campground with an 8m RV on vacation with my family. Excellent pitches at least 10m x 10m with correctly arranged columns (electricity and water). Bathrooms new and excellently maintained, stocked with everything you need. Only downside the showers in which it is difficult to find the... right location for lukewarm water. Free WiFi but often unusable due to bandwidth saturation. Beautiful sea with sand covered area (almost unobtainable in Croatia) and several piers suitable for diving. Bottom devoid of urchins except near the lighthouse. Minimarket well stocked, bakery serving excellent filled pastries in the morning, and good restaurants. The area around the camp is fairly desolate, but nearby is the small town of Kraljevica with everything you need and a shopping center a few kilometers away (toward Rijeka). Also present is a bar that turns into a pub in the evening with drinks and theme nights, with music and a cozy atmosphere.Automatikusan lefordítva.
- Michael S.July 2014AvoidThis campsite is the worst I've seen in Croatia (and the most expensive...) First of all, the welcome was really not very warm, the receptionist couldn't stop sighing because we stayed 3 nights but we had to change the prices for the last night... Hard to calculate! What's more, there's no trust in the... customer: you can't plug into the mains on your own, you need a key to access the box. This is not available, so someone has to go and open it, and then there's no way to get in. The campsite is full of barriers, so you feel like you're in prison. For example, to get from one toilet block to another, you have to make a huge detour because of the multiple gates that prevent direct access. Secondly, the site is rocky, very rocky. Impossible to put in a sardine without removing 3 stones! You have to arm yourself with shovels, hammers and a lot of patience! The best of all is the sanitary facilities: the showers are next to the pissoirs, so the smell of urine lingers in the showers, which is very pleasant... To be avoided.Automatikusan lefordítva.
- alex h.August 2013Hello, after 5 days at this campsite, a short summary. First of all, I can't understand the bad reviews at all. We couldn't hear any noise from the factory nearby and we haven't starved yet. There are great restaurants in neighboring villages, sanitary facilities are very clean, not overcrowded, only... the pitches for tents are to be criticized. Air mattresses are recommended. The noise level is very pleasant. Great for relaxing. Overall 3.5 -4 out of 5 stars.Automatikusan lefordítva.
- Uli R.June 2010Only suitable for overnight stays. Most of the pitches are obviously allocated to long-term campers, and you are assigned an uneven, unmarked pitch with lots of tree trunks for overnight stays. One sanitary block is new and very good. The refinery cannot be ignored. 22.50 € for 2 people per night is very expensive.Automatikusan lefordítva.
- Annegret S.May 2010At the moment a huge construction site. Very large, the site itself is very green, lots of trees, lots of birds. Nice campers: lots of visitors from the East (Slovenians, Czechs, mostly really nice families). BUT: located between refinery (Rijeka) and industrial area (KRK), sanitary facilities modest... (if usable at all). Currently undergoing major renovation, the problem is that no part of the site is cordoned off, but everything is being dredged AND everything is being dredged, which means that camping is annoying because there is abnormal construction noise all day long, the construction workers are annoyed because campers live everywhere on "their" construction site. It is to be feared that the real advantage of the site (extremely cheap) will also be lost after the conversion...Automatikusan lefordítva.
