The access road is a bit confusing as the campsite is at the end of a cul-de-sac and there is already a no passing sign beforehand. The access road and the campsite are very narrow.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pitches in the... lower area are quite sloping and uneven in places. Estimated length of the pitches approx. 7.5m. The folded-in bike rack of our 7.4m motorhome hung slightly in the way.
We did not find a supply/disposal station for fresh/grey water. However, the chemical toilet can be disposed of. There is a space in front of the outdoor sanitary facilities.
WLAN costs €4 per day (cheaper from the second day) and must be booked separately when registering.
Walking a dog is also difficult here. You can either walk along the beach at low tide (it's difficult at high tide) or you can walk up the miserably long steps in front of the campsite and disappear into a small wood. Here, however, it is always steeply uphill. Dogs are not allowed on the beach promenade.Automatiškai išversta.- Stéphanie W.September 2020TeigiamiDirectly by the sea and close to the center. However, I don't think the price-performance ratio is appropriate. For 34 €/night (2children2adults2dogs) you have to pay extra for the showers. The sanitary facilities are simple and in need of an overhaul. Nevertheless clean. For 0,80€ you get 8 minutes... of shower water. The site itself is very clean. There is a lack of water points. Quiet location.
There are very few leisure facilities. We went with caravan. Our camping spot had an annoying groove that did make the spot small. The water fountain was also unfortunate in the way. Very nice swimming pool with good slides. With access to the beach (also for dogs). Approx. 750m to the village center. Friendly reception. Barrier closed between 12 and 14 o'clock! Sanitary facilities at the beginning of the CP, depending on the pitch relatively... far. Prices relatively high, you pay for the view.... The sea thunders against the rocks below the campsite at high tide. This might disturb some people. Depending on the weather, also quite fast/storm-prone... This is worth more than 5* The staff were very friendly and helpful, fresh baguette every day. Sanitary facilities .... just French, were cleaned twice a day. (I think), but in the high season there are just many guests there, and no toilet paper in the high season on site. but: Pitch right by the sea!!!Automatiškai išversta.- Iris P.July 2016Teigiami- Location - Friendliness - FlexibilitySurprise find in Normandy, a pearlDue to the late ferry arrival time, we needed a "local" campsite near Cherbourg for our journey home. We decided on Houlgate in advance and were surprised at what we found there. A wonderful little town with lots of small stores, restaurants, a supermarket and great historic buildings. In this respect,... the beach promenade is a rare feast for the eyes! Everything is geared towards tourism, very friendly, English-speaking and everything is 5-10 minutes away from the campsite. The campsite itself is laid out in terraces and mainly offers rental accommodation (converted carriages, tipis and better wooden houses). Every pitch has a sea view. The pitches for camper vans and motorhomes are located directly on the sandy beach. The beach is directly accessible via steps. At high tide the beach is narrow, at low tide it is more than 50m wide. People swim, ride, stroll and sail there. There are also kite surfers and surfers. Overall, you get the impression that when you leave the camper van, you are entering the sea.... and the sound of the sea accompanies you as you fall asleep. The sanitary facilities are clean and even equipped with toilet seats. However, at the beginning of the HS only half open so that use is unisex. Showers with shower coins. Washing machine and dryer are available, as well as a separate play and exercise area for children (e.g. trampoline and own playhouse). For the typical excursion destinations such as Bayeux, however, you have to invest a few kilometers. However, if you are happy with what is on offer locally, you can definitely enjoy a longer stay there. We only wanted to stay 1 night, but spontaneously extended our stay and didn't regret it. For our next trip to France to Brittany, we will certainly park here again for 2-3 days. A great surprise find with no drawbacks.Automatiškai išversta.

It was one of our best vacations. The pitch was big enough for the caravan, awning and car. However, there is no seating outside the roof. If you look through the window, you have the beach and the sea right in front of you. You can... take wonderful walks on the beach. Some brave or hardened people have already taken a dip in the sea, we were able to hold back - Houlgate itself is a lively place with many restaurants where you can eat inexpensively by French standards. The young owner and the staff are very friendly and helpful, and the price of € 18 per day is unique in this location. I think we will be back.Automatiškai išversta.
- Peter Z.August 2013Once again, we got one of the last free pitches (because we hadn't booked in advance). The pitches were all a bit narrow and ours was still slightly sloping - but no matter, the great view of the directly adjacent beach and the sea more than made up for it. You can order baguettes the evening before... (which we always forgot to do) or get them by bike in the nearby town. The sanitary facilities were great (no standing toilets) and well cleaned. We will certainly come back to Houlgate again because of the great location and the beautiful town.Automatiškai išversta.
