Caen can be easily reached by bike in 40 minutes. (From the Pegasus bridge there is a nice cycle path along the canal.)
Somewhat outdated sanitary facilities, but clean. We prefer parceled out pitches with electricity and water nearby (you can even do laundry here) and are usually out and about during the day.
