- Michael A.June 2024PozitīviPitch with roofing to provide shade New and clean sanitary facilities, good facilities also for people with limited mobility Restaurant ok wide access roads to the pitchesNegatīvaisAt our time there were several school classes staying there, so the restaurant was full in the morning, at lunchtime and in the evening and the volume was correspondingly high... The path to the beach is long and leads through a dry river bed, so you have to be good on foot.Great placeThe campsite attaches great importance to high ecological standards, therefore no waste disposal on site, only a few drinking water taps, the rest is non-potable waterAutomātiski tulkots.

E-bike recommended, moderately busy country roads.
Enough possibilities for MTB.
Almeria 40km easy to reach by e-bike (day trip).Automātiski tulkots. - Wolfgang W.November 2023PozitīviPeace and quiet (apart from the dogs) in the quiet, barren countryside. Warm enough to spend the winter. Still relatively new sanitary facilities, which are cleaned at least daily. Restaurant with a good selection and a daily changing menu. Large pool (not in winter). Numerous (shady and sunny) pitches. Various mobile homes (older and brand new).NegatīvaisToo many dogs. Not every dog owner has trained their four-legged friends well.We spend the winter hereWe have decided on one of the new mobile homes for 2024/2025. We'll see if we stick with it then or if we buy a camper, caravan or motorhome again.
But we will certainly spend the winter there again.
And, last but not least: the staff, who care a great deal about the well-being of their guests, make us feel at home when we spend the winter here.Automātiski tulkots. - Matthias G.November 2023PozitīviCamping Los Escullos is located just outside a quiet natural park and not far from beautiful beaches. The staff are extremely friendly and helpful. The sanitary facilities are always well maintained. In any case, the campsite is highly recommended. It has a really good restaurant and a small store that sells fresh baguettes every morning. There is also a swimming pool, although it is closed in the winter months. All year round, the Los Escullos campsite offers its guests the opportunity to work out on the "fitness trail" or play tennis. The surrounding area is ideal for hiking for people who enjoy being out and about in nature. The nearest towns are Almería or Nirja, which can be reached in 30-40 minutes. Day trips to the Tabernas - a semi-desert - are also possible. Famous "spaghetti westerns" were filmed there (including "Play me the song of death").NegatīvaisUnfortunately, there are dog owners who simply leave their dog's "droppings" lying around. That is a great pity.Top campsite in the Cabo de Gata Nature ParkLos Escullos campsite is very suitable for a long-term stay in winter. The advantage over summer is that it is not as hot. Spain is also a travel destination with a long culture. So there is a lot to discover. There are many beautiful cities, churches, Roman buildings and beautiful squares! They all... invite you to stay (in pleasant temperatures!).
The operators/owners of Los Escullos invest a lot and their offers on the campsite are constantly being updated and expanded.
The sanitary facilities have been improved once again (compared to last year). This hard-working commitment on the part of the operators deserves respect and recognition. Guests are made to feel very welcome. Los Escullos campsite is an outstanding example of how innovations can be implemented for the benefit of campsite guests. The price-performance ratio is unique! It is therefore not surprising that many camping enthusiasts like to return to Camping Los Escullos, surrounded by a fantastic landscape!Automātiski tulkots. - D. C.March 2023PozitīviLocation, quiet, nature reserve, large pitches, clean sanitary facilitiesNegatīvaisnothingBeautiful place in the countrysideVery nicely laid out, green campsite with plenty of shade (trees, sun roofs). The pitches are quite good sized by Spanish standards. The sanitary building is new and everything is completely ok. There is a small store, a restaurant and a friendly, German-speaking reception open 24 hours a day. There... is also a swimming pool, but it was closed during our stay in March. The clientele in March consists to a large extent of international "overwinterers". The campsite is about 500m from the sea/beach (footpath), where there is a cafe/bar. The location in the "Cabo de Gata" nature park and the heavenly tranquillity make this place very special. Hiking and cycling opportunities practically on the doorstep. Price: €26.50 per night (2 pers./van/electricity), with ACSI-Card: €23.
We felt very comfortable for 3 nights...Automātiski tulkots. - Harald H.October 2021Pozitīviexcellent infrastructureNegatīvaisOnly suitable for dog owners. Campers with small children who play on the gravel should give this site a wide berthonly for dog owners with their petsWe were on this site three times, each time for 5 winter months. Each time the dog owners became more and more aggressive, the tone rougher. They do not have to abide by the site rules. Many dogs are not kept on a lead. Complaints are accepted with a friendly smile and nothing happens. It takes defensive... measures (garden hose) to prevent dogs from fouling the plot. The dog owners even let their animals defecate and urinate in front of the play equipment. The excrement is usually picked up, but children also play on the ground and the dirt is only removed superficially. If you speak to the dog owners, you have to be insulted. Nothing happens on the part of the site management. The majority of these inconsiderate dog owners are German.
At weekends there is often noise from Spanish long-term campers and even more dogs running free than usual.Automātiski tulkots. - gerhard k.October 2021Pozitīvigreat location, good infrastructure, excellent restaurantNegatīvaistoo many dogs the disco often starts at around 220 o'clock at night, blasting the whole place with sounda dog and disco placea campsite in beautiful surroundings with good infrastructure. there is a very good restaurant with friendly staff.
there are an unimaginable number of dogs on the site.
the disco sometimes doesn't start until after 10 pm and blasts the whole site with sound.Automātiski tulkots. - Friedhelm M.September 2019PozitīviQuiet (except animation) Plots are large Often special ratesNegatīvaisSomewhat off the beaten trackVery nice locationThis campsite is a bit out of the way, so you often have to drive, but that's the only downside. We have been there several times. The pitches are large, and in summer shade is rolled over the frames. The pool is nice, the entertainment is nice. The showers were temporarily not so great, but have been... renovated and are now tip-top again!
Los Escullos beach is about 15 minutes away on foot. It is suitable for snorkeling, but is rather coarse sand.
Note: of course we weren't there for just one night, but in the period at the end of summerAutomātiski tulkots. - Friedhelm M.June 2016PozitīviQuiet location, sun protection through matsNegatīvaisVery long distances to the shops and beaches. Noisy at weekends and during the vacations.Very quiet, quite remote, and long distancesVery quiet location, but unfortunately you have to drive for shopping (small supermarket in San José, approx. 10 minutes by car; Mercadona + Lidl in Campohermoso approx. 25 minutes). To the most beautiful beaches of San José approx. 15 km. The beach of Los Escullos, 20 minutes walk away, is not nice.... The showers are just ok, clean, but not always hot, and not up to date. Often crowded and noisy at weekends when locals sometimes come in droves. I can't recommend the site for all vacationers. It's just too far away for activities outside the campsite, whether it's the beach, shopping or sightseeing, you always have to travel a long way.Automātiski tulkots.
- Christiane L.October 2015PozitīviBeautiful surroundings, interesting excursions along the coast possible, WLAN free and good! Nice swimming pool.NegatīvaisNatural sandy beach 700m away, but not that great, nicer beaches a little further away. Sanitary facilities are getting on in years but cleanQuiet and beautifully situated site in the middle of a nature reserveCampsite with rather small plots in ascending levels on the slope. The plots are separated by trees, rarely by hedges. Shaded by metal frames with mats on top. Not suitable for large boats (too narrow). Friendly reception. German is also spoken. The upper half of the pitch is currently being overhauled.... New electrics and new waste water pipes. Should be finished by Dec. 2015. There are often groups of boys in the huts. Therefore a little more restless there. Drinking water taps can be found in several places. It is not possible for large mobile homes to dispose of gray water and toilets centrally via hoses, but both must be disposed of via the 2 chemical toilet sinks using transportable tanks. The sanitary facilities are a bit outdated, but are still ok. The showers could be re-tiled. However, there is only one toilet block and a smaller facility right by the pool in the entrance area. But it is cleaned every day. Big advantage: free WiFi with sufficient bandwidth (we were close to the entrance area). We cannot confirm any unpleasant odors from the wastewater treatment plant (100m away). The small store has all the essentials. We found the swimming pool with sunbathing area and WC/showers beautifully laid out. We did not visit the restaurant. Nice excursions along the coast possible. Surroundings of volcanic origin. Very beautiful tuff formations to the right of the beach. You can take beautiful photos there. The beach itself (700m on foot) is ok. More beautiful beaches with more infrastructure about 10 km away. Excursions are worthwhile in the direction of La Isleta (old fishing village, you can sit and eat nicely at the harbor) and also further in the direction of Rodalquiar (the road there goes over a mountain with a magnificent view back to the Vukane). The towns of Las Negras and San Jose are also worth a visit. The nearest Lidl / Aldi is in Almeria. For us, the site was ok for a few days as a stopover and for a few excursions into the interesting nature park. Good value in the early and late season via Camping Cheques and ACSI. We wouldn't stay for months on end. But that's a matter of taste. Dog owners will at least find plenty of space for walks and mountain bikers and hikers will also get their money's worth.Automātiski tulkots.
- Juan P.September 2015Good campsiteIn great surroundings. The site is well maintained. The pitches have shade, but they are lined up and not wildly distributed. The density is high, but it is not full at this time of year. Very good sanitary facilities.Automātiski tulkots.
- Astrid I.June 2013I can't judge the place at the weekend, we were there for a few days from Sunday lunchtime. Nice location in the nature park, 20 minutes walk to the nice beach. In the pool area it smells a bit like the on-site sewage treatment plant (great that they have something like that), but only depending on the... wind direction. Great pitches because they are shaded and if you take the larger ones for a few euros more, you have plenty of space. Try to get a pitch away from the rented cabins, there are youth groups (also during the week), so you can only sleep from about 01.00 at night. The staff is very committed, there is always a lot of cleaning, maintenance technicians are on the road and a guard. The cafe and the restaurant as well as the small supermarket are great (we haven't had such good baguettes yet), affordable and tasty, even the pizza is very acceptable for Spain. We arrived after 10.30 pm and there was actually no more food, but the delicious pizza was still made for us, although it was actually already closed. From 08.30 the morning rest is over, but I think that's normal. The sanitary facilities are mixed, washbasins are very modern, the showers could do with some retiling. But reasonably clean, lockable cubicles and large with 3 hooks each for 'hanging up your own stuff'. I'm a bit particular about this, but got on well with it. The toilets are okay, not super great but not disgusting either. Not an issue with camper seat covers. The location is very nice, you can see the lovely hills of the nature reserve all around and Cabo de Gata is a dream anyway. Salt lakes, flamingos, fantastic beaches with dune landscapes, you really have to see it. It was already very warm during the day at the end of June/beginning of July and we were still quite windy, but at night it was cool enough to sleep (it's almost a desert climate) and the wind also died down. In my opinion, the price-performance ratio is absolutely fine. We paid EUR 36 for one night with a Ford Nugget, 2 adults, 2 small dogs and 10 A electricity (charged at a flat rate). I would be interested to know whether the story about the weekend is subjective or because these campers perhaps didn't speak Spanish and may have made enemies there with typical German behavior or whether it really is like that. We live about 3 hours away from this campsite (but we are also German, just with a knowledge of Spanish) and will report back when we have been there at the weekend.....Automātiski tulkots.
- Camper C.October 2012The site is very nice and quiet. The sanitary facilities are very clean. Aaaaaber.......that only fits during the week! As soon as the permanent campers arrive on Fridays, the peace and quiet is over. These people are very hostile towards tourists and regard the site as their property. We have never... noticed such extreme behavior anywhere else in our long time camping. Nasty looks and verbal insults on arrival. Partying and rowdiness late into the night. Our property was massively damaged by adults playing soccer on the occupied! Plots occupied by tourists. Dogs are not kept on a lead and leave their business everywhere. The sanitary facilities are becoming increasingly dirty. At weekends, many groups of young people are accommodated in the bungalows, who then return early in the morning by cab from partying in the surrounding villages. There is probably no night watchman on the site and reception doesn't bother. Despite its beautiful location and good facilities, we won't be staying here again.Automātiski tulkots.

- Hans S.May 2010This site is located in a wide valley surrounded by volcanic rock mountains. It is approx. 10 km to the sea and the town. English is spoken at reception as well as Spanish. The pitches are sheltered by matting roofs and various old trees. The division has been made by hedges. The pitches are quite small.... There is only one central sanitary facility for over two hundred pitches (of which around 50-60 are permanent guests). It is clean but you have to walk long distances. The swimming pool is too small for the number of pitches. The sports facilities are outside the campsite. Certainly recommended for hikers, as the site is in the middle of a nature park.Automātiski tulkots.
