"Was once our dream campsite (correction 2018) - Since more and more of these water landscapes have sprouted up like mushrooms (in this case from the sea) on Croatia's coasts, Camp Mina has lost a lot of its popularity for us. The fantastic view of the bay is simply ruined. On top of that, the constant sound of children and teenagers using this not-so-cheap offer from morning to night is a pain in the ass!!! If you lie on the beach and close your eyes, you feel like you're in a local bathing establishment. The seaplanes that drop anchor next door in the port of Jelsa are also annoying with their constant take-offs and landings. The site itself is being tinkered with from year to year without creating anything worthwhile. For example, a barrier-free shower for disabled wheelchair users has been created, but these visitors are still denied access to the beach. Construction waste is simply disposed of in the adjacent woodland on the peninsula. A bar, which was opened on the square in 2015 to the delight of many people and was pretty rubbishy, has already been removed again instead of being extended. Probably because it was too rarely visited... No wonder, when it was only open from 09:00-12:00 (if you were lucky). A few years ago, it was still possible to get cold drinks from a vending machine at the entrance, which has also not been possible since 2015. The dog shower has been improved, as has the disposal option for the camping toilet. It is now even possible to wash your hands with soap after disposing of waste. The toilets themselves are sometimes simply not big enough and often dirty. Even if they are always cleaned, but the world is simply full of pigs who can't get their "business" done cleanly. :/ The showers are now in terrible condition and if you want to take a hot shower, you should do it early. There are times of day when even the cold water only comes out of the shower head in a small trickle. :( It's a shame that not all areas are accessible by caravan and that there is only access to the water on one side of the campsite. The other side with a view of Jelsa is rarely visited, as you always have to take a long detour to get here. A shower that once existed on the pier of the beach a long time ago has been rationalized away. Pleasant sunbathing spots above the beach are often besieged by oversized igloo tents, so that you have to limit yourself to the path in front or the rocks by the water, where chairs and loungers no longer stand a chance. The beach itself and the paths are cleaned every morning. The water area is guarded day and night. Apparently they have had bad experiences with disgruntled campers ;) As always, the staff at reception are very friendly and helpful. You can book WiFi there, but it's better not to. It's the last piece of junk! As a little tip: every 24 hours you can use this WLan for 10 minutes free of charge! During these 10 minutes the network is quite usable, but as soon as you have booked, there are only problems. Then it's better to walk to Jelsa. There is free "Wifi" in almost every restaurant ;) Unfortunately, the bread and bread roll sales in front of the campsite only work well in the high season. If you arrive earlier or later, you have no choice but to walk the one kilometer to Jelsa every morning to get your bread. The forest on this peninsula is amazing! This is one of the reasons why we have always come back here despite the shortcomings. You are immediately surrounded by nature with your four-legged friend and can let him run around. :) The coast of the peninsula is mainly used by naturists. This year (2016), the site was overcrowded with huge motorhomes. Hardly any chance of finding space with a caravan. And if you did, you felt like you were in a high-rise estate because all you could see around you were walls. :/ The site should be closed to motorhomes!!! Prices were increased (again) in 2016, but nothing more is being done in return. On the contrary. :( Apart from that, I wouldn't mind a price increase if the disadvantages I listed were eliminated. ----------------- Correction 2018: In 2017, a barrier was built between rows 2 and 3. You can now also "tap" water at some washbasins there. There is now a stand on the beach where you can buy cool drinks and ice cream. Unfortunately, you can't buy "freshly tapped" water and you still have to buy snacks outside the campsite. The campsite is now divided into different regions with different prices. The price of our pitch from two years ago was raised from €21 to €36. Unfortunately, the sanitary facilities have become even worse. But now you can get cold drinks from the vending machine again. The reception has now changed the side of the path, which means that some pitches have been removed again. In addition, there is now an electric roller shutter gate which is supposed to suggest something like security. The peninsula itself is now being continuously destroyed, as can be seen from the shifting of earth from excavators and truck tracks. There are now also various "watercraft" for hire at inflated prices near the pier. Furthermore, some young private individuals are building something like a hut on the island, the purpose of which I could not yet see this year. These people were absolutely inconsiderate when it came to crossing the campsite in their Audi. Fortunately, no children or animals were injured during the time we were there. Reception just shrugged their shoulders when we complained and compassionately said "private". The situation on the beach has continued to deteriorate. Large family igloo tents close together, which meant that our view of the bay only fell on tent walls. Even other campers who, like us, used to come here every year have decided never to visit Camp Mina again. It's a real shame how our little "paradise" has been and continues to be destroyed year after year. Despite everything. There are also positive things to report. The seaplanes seem to be a thing of the past. Too many complaints? Who knows? My complaints to the campsite operator and the town council have at least gone unheeded.
