Very tidy bungalows in solid constructionNegatīvaisIn September the nights at 1000 m above sea level are already cool ... but there was not a single mosquito!Hospitality at a very high level in a unique locationWe spent 9 nights at the Haut Chandelalar campsite, we had only planned to stay for a few days. The reception by the manager (Muriel) was warm and even German-speaking, and we received a campsite brochure describing everything worth knowing about the site as well as leisure and shopping facilities. The... campsite looks like an extensive, well-kept park with lots of trees and beautiful, flat alcoves at the edge of the site - everything is very idyllic, natural and absolutely quiet. There are numbered, level pitches, very generously and openly distributed. What impressed us most was that the family running the NS (everyone is nice, attentive and caring) also offers a full service: there is a well-stocked grocery store where you can get home-baked baguettes, croissants, etc. (in the best bakery quality!) and lots of groceries (including a refrigerated counter) for your daily needs. The restaurant on site offers evening menus to order in advance. There are take-away meals several times a week: homemade pizza, large and varied salads, roast chicken with chips - all of very good quality at reasonable prices, which we were happy to take advantage of. The 25m pool is spotlessly clean and heated, with plenty of sun loungers and parasols available. There is also a playground, a volleyball court and a covered seating area with BBQ, and the solidly built sanitary facilities are cleaned several times a week at high pressure - which was perfectly adequate in the low season. For EUR 5 a day we had a complete fridge for ourselves, which made our self-catering much easier - we just love to cook. There is a nude hiking trail to the mountain stream Esteron down into the valley, about 1/2 hour walk (forest area is owned by the family: nude hiking is allowed!) with nice bathing spots/picnic. 35 km (40 min.) from Castellane, approx. 20 km (30 min.) to Entrevaux. We will be back.Automātiski tulkots.
