Above all, I don't expect a reproachful attitude! Some people go to the marked campsites even without reading up on the internet in advance.
If these are not for children under the age of 14, I expect... to be treated with respect and, if possible, to be given advice on where to camp at a later time.
Unfortunately, this experience was very negative and I am still annoyed about the rude employee/owner, even though it was 6 weeks ago.
If you have grandchildren or children, you should never visit this campsite, neither with nor without children! Direct access to the lake, everything you need on site.NegatīvaisSanitary container cannot be heated.A real place for those seeking peace and quietAfter a lot of stress over the past few months, I was looking for a quiet place to relax. And, what can I say - it actually exists. By the lake, in the middle of the forest, surrounded by nature.
The site is unspoilt and without pitches. On arrival, everyone finds their own pitch, personally and lovingly... marked. Water and electricity connections are easy to reach.
The central sanitary facilities - individual/special. They consist of 2 shepherd's wagons and open-air showers. The concept is well thought out. There is also a sanitary container.
Both are clean and are cleaned several times a day.
The registration trailer is also a small kiosk with food and drinks. Perfect if you fancy a well-chilled beer in the evening. The prices are moderate. For more, there is a small supermarket in Marienthal, about 30 minutes' walk away. A baker currently comes directly to the square on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at around 2pm. His baked goods are really tasty and he also has everyday groceries on offer.
The lake invites you to swim, but is not clear and the bottom is a bit soggy. Bathing shoes are recommended. An access ladder at the jetty would be great. You can also explore the lake by stand-up paddleboard or kayak. These are available to hire on site.
There is an extra bathing area for dogs.
The staff are super nice, hard-working and always happy to have a chat.
A word about the mosquitoes. Yes, they do exist at the lake. I didn't find it too bad. Mosquito repellent is only recommended when hiking.
I had an extremely relaxing time here and I was so impressed by the place that I immediately made another booking. The layout of the site is close to nature, with no rows and rows of pitches, beautiful spacious pitches offering plenty of privacy. Wonderfully quiet, virtually none of the usual noises of civilization such as traffic noise. Very, very... friendly operators and staff with great confidence in their guests: you get a consumption card in which everyone enters what they take for themselves from the "small sales room". (Barbecue food, milk, alcoholic drinks, ......) Bread rolls to order.
Sanitary containers in the front area with two showers, washbasins and separate toilets for men and women. Very basic, but super clean.
In the rear area there are two trailers, each with three toilets and four outdoor showers. These are also super clean and the outdoor showers are addictive, it's wonderful to look up at the open sky while showering.
Great rental properties for people without a camper van, motorhome or tent.
Beautiful beach meadow and various campfire sites.
Conclusion. It's a real campsite with grass, trees, tents and mobile homes, lovingly designed corners, sand typical of the region and a jetty. No grand reception building for a change, but a cleverly designed reception office and shopping cart.... And a very nice Christiane. Who is she? The boss on the square, whether early in the morning or in the evening, always there for her guests. Clean toilet facilities that are cleaned several times a day. Disinfection against "Corona" is also available.
Campers have the opportunity to choose their favorite pitch in advance and there are several of them.
There is also the peace and quiet, a place for campers over 14 who love relaxation and peace and quiet.
Of course, dogs are allowed here, but they don't dominate as described in one comment. The four-legged friends have plenty of room to run around in the surrounding pine forests.
The bread roll service is great, not only because they taste good, they are available from 8.00 a.m. in the reception trolley. And if you want to do some shopping, although not on a large scale, the bakery car comes on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with all kinds of groceries that everyday campers need.
We love it here and are already looking forward to next year at the campsite on Lake Wentow. Please stay away so that it stays that way! :-)A wonderful and extremely relaxing stay in the middle of almost untouched nature, which passed far too quickly. I wish I had booked for longer... :-)
If you are looking for peace and quiet and want to sleep in, this is the place for you. And the price is top! Where else can you get an all-inclusive lake... view pitch for just over € 30!
I can only smile at those visitors who complain about age restrictions, midges, a lack of infrastructure or cold water at one of the sinks. The website really didn't say anything about the Ballermann feeling, children's paradise or shopping miles. So why complain ;-)
That's the unique thing about this still completely enchanted corner of the world. Bicycles should not be missing from your luggage. A bakery car with bread rolls and (unfortunately) extremely tasty, irresistible calorie bombs arrives almost daily.
Oh yes and....Is it reprehensible to want to spend a camping vacation without children? No, it's simply wonderful to be able to sleep in, meet strangers who say hello, wish you a good day, show consideration for each other, are helpful and give you privacy! There are thousands of family campsites, but unfortunately only a handful like this one.
I had to drive 700 km to find something like this. I'll definitely be back! Especially if you're traveling alone as a woman, I can only recommend this campsite. You don't feel alone here and everyone is welcome.

This hype is long gone, almost every campsite today has a specific target group. The site is quite secluded in a sparse mixed forest by the lake. Only a few pitches are parceled out, otherwise... there is a free choice of pitches on the sandy forest floor, with cars and caravans standing together. Being close to nature is a great asset here, so the paths are not paved and there is no proper wash house, but ultimately everything you need on a campsite is available. A great deal of attention has been paid to detail here, be it in the open-air showers or at the washing-up areas. The rental caravans are also worth seeing.
