"Suitable for overnight stays - We booked this site for a stopover on our journey from the Mediterranean towards Paris. The pitches are generally parceled out and surrounded by large trees. The site is located directly on the Loire. The reception was friendly. Unfortunately, our pitch has no direct electricity connection. As far as I know, neither do the other pitches. The power connection was about 25 meters away from our pitch, so I actually had to unwind the entire cable drum via access roads and other pitches. The sanitary facilities were a bit outdated but in a clean condition. The disposal station for the chemical toilets was unfortunate. This was located between two motorhome pitches. Bread roll service was offered at the reception. However, we went to the local bakery.

"nice, friendly place - Situated directly on the Loire, beautiful parceled out pitches with shade, simple but clean facilities, adequate and well-kept sanitary facilities, friendly welcome, small shopping facilities, other shopping facilities in the village within easy walking distance. Price 2 pers., caravan, without electricity in NS 12,50 € & 70 ct. tax.

Profils

Camping Les Portes de Sancerre is a quiet campsite on the banks of the Loire, which forms the natural border between the departments of Cher and Nièvre. You'll be camping in a shady area in a wine region around Sancerre, …the medieval town where the famous Sauvignon Blanc wines come from. A tasting at one of the local wineries is definitely an option! The quiet campsite has shady pitches, the best of which are right on the banks of the Loire. The site is separated from the river by a fence. Most of the pitches are not demarcated, giving a sense of space. Most of the rental accommodation is located on the left side of the campsite. These are mainly mobile homes where you can stay, but there are also some lodge tents. There is a swimming pool next to the campsite that can be used by guests. But the Loire, which runs along the campsite, is also an attractive place for water lovers. In addition to swimming in the river, you can also go canoeing or kayaking on the Loire. If you prefer to stay on dry land, that is of course also possible. A walk along the riverbank offers beautiful views of the river and the neighbouring hilly landscape. The sanitary facilities on the campsite are rather outdated and do not always work properly. However, the campsite staff are helpful. A facility that is no longer working will be repaired as soon as possible. Furthermore, the sanitary facilities are kept very clean. Surrounded by hills that are the source of famous wines and in the heart of the land of Chavignol croutons, you have arrived at the summit of French gastronomy! A real gourmet weekend, less than 2 hours from Paris.
