- Piet V.June 2015PozitīviTranquility, small scale, open uncluttered campground, proximity to beaches and biking opportunitiesNegatīvaisSanitary facilities perhaps a bit cramped in high season when campground is full. Very limited hot water supply at sinks.Beautiful spacious landscape campground close to the 'Atlantique'!The campsite is located in a small hamlet ('Chez Mousset') between Semussac and the seaside resort of Saint-Georges-de-Didonne. Adjacent to it to the north is the (fashionable) seaside resort of Royan. Small and quiet campsite (29 open pitches) on a large and scenic, slightly sloping, terrain with a... neat grass carpet. Bordered by plants/trees. Pitches are mostly sunny or semi-shaded. There are also 4 beautiful mobile homes and 2 Tipi tents for rent on the campsite. Access camping and pitches are good. Very large caravans or campers (longer than 7.5 m') may have to do some maneuvering at the entrance. The campground is located a short distance on the south side of the D 730, but there is little audible impact. The local road that runs right next to the campground has limited local and agricultural traffic, without significant disturbance. Large pitches (ca.150m2 or more on average) with 10A electricity and almost everywhere a nice view of the whole campground. Limited water taps, some around the sanitary building and one on the rear camping section Some groups of trees provide (necessary) shade in some places as it can get very hot. Early/mid June it was already well above 30gr(32-35gr), although that was very exceptional for that time in 2015. Sanitary facilities, in an open sanitary building, are of sufficient quality and regularly cleaned. Large shower rooms. Facilities for the disabled. In high season, with full campsite, facilities seem a bit on the cramped side. Very limited hot water supply at sinks (only 1). WiFi is good, except on rear camping area a bit less. For smaller youth there are some play facilities. Very friendly owner (Violaine Lys) with tips / maps for cycling and walking routes, online booking possible, electronic payment also. Price for pre- and high season ): approx. € 16,00/night (incl. tourist tax, excl. WiFi € 7,00/week or € 1,50/day). From the campground very nice bike rides to various small and larger seaside resorts in the immediate vicinity (approx. 5km.) or along the 'Gironde' (e.g. the picturesque Talmont-sur-Gironde which is car-free for visitors). Good cycling facilities especially along the coastal strip (including several boulevards) on/near the Atlantique. Cycling is basically doable with regular bikes, but E-bikes are often very ideal and certainly needed right behind the immediate coastal strip as it is hilly. Hikers can certainly get their money's worth in the area as well. Ile d'Oléron is also very interesting, reachable by car in a short time. Limited shopping facilities in Semussac itself but good to excellent in Saint-Georges-de-Didonne and Royan. In short, an ideal campsite for peace seekers, bathers, cyclists and hikers.
