- Markus E.August 2023PozitīviUncomplicated booking, easy to reach via the E39, large pitches, clean sanitary facilities, right on the beachNegatīvaisUneven roads, parking spaces partly uneven with high steps to the road, wide paths, there should be more flushing spaces (4)Nice, large campsite with clean sanitary facilitiesWe can recommend the site as it is easily accessible and the sanitary facilities are clean. We were in the Norwegian low season, so only sanitary block 1 was open and we had to buy bread and rolls in the supermarket, but that wasn't a problem for us as it was only about 1km away.Automātiski tulkots.
- Andreas A.August 2023Pozitīvi- Close to the Kristiansand ferry - Close to the city center of Mandal - very nice sandy beach - new sanitary buildingNegatīvais- very expensive in the high season - somewhat soulless/ without character - Supply/disposal point not so conveniently located, there is a traffic jam in the middle of the campsiteTopcamp Sjøsanden Mandal - that's the name of the site nowAt the end of our 3-week tour of Norway, we wanted to spend another day on the beach here.
We also fell for the photo here of the pool/water slide - it no longer exists.
The campsite operates under the name "Topcamp", a rather expensive chain.
We were on a pitch with asphalt, which was certainly good... in the rain.
The other pitches looked quite uneven, and the small forest on the beach is reserved for tent campers.
The beach is actually very nice. The playground and a new sanitary building.
Otherwise nothing special, mediocre, somehow soulless, without character.
And it's certainly not worth the money - motorhome/ 2 adults/ 1 child - €63 per night.
(Plus a strange pricing policy that you pay a lot more if you want to choose the pitch beforehand).
The place for supply / disposal is unfavorably arranged, in the middle of the place next to the sanitary building. There can be a considerable backlog if the motorhomes queue there in the morning before departure.Automātiski tulkots. - Jens S.July 2019PozitīviThe sandy beach, close to the ferry KristiansandNegatīvaisNarrow, full in the high seasonGood place for families near KristiansandA huge place by Norwegian standards. During our travel time it was full from the late afternoon. The pitch could be chosen freely. The pitches were relatively narrow and parceled out using markings. As everywhere in Norway, the sanitary blocks were quite small for the number of guests. The sandy beach directly in front of the campsite was greatAutomātiski tulkots.
- Patrick G.July 2017Pozitīvi-location - spacious complex - quietNegatīvais- Pitches uneven and partly not easy to drive onGood campsiteWe were there for 2 nights, the site is easy and quick to reach from the E39, access is uncomplicated with the caravan. The site is located just outside the town, in a quiet location, surrounded by a park-like forest on the beach. The pitches are not always completely flat and easy to drive on because... of the trees, but you can choose your own pitch. Water and electricity are always close by. The sanitary facilities are not up to German standards, but ok, sometimes an intermediate cleaning would have been appropriate. For children there are 2 playgrounds, mini golf, water slide. You can go for a great walk with the dog. Price-performance ratio is good...Automātiski tulkots.
- sascha D.May 2017Mandal - Quiet with a beautiful sandy beachWe stopped off in Mandal after the ferry on our Norway road trip. The welcome was friendly as usual. The site was quiet and we were able to choose a pitch ourselves. We were completely alone on the pitch (it was also a bit chilly) :-)Automātiski tulkots.
- Wolfgang P.July 2015Beautiful place and TOP for Norway! We spent a few days here and were very satisfied. The location is great, wonderfully situated under large trees with direct access to the water and the (allegedly) longest sandy beach in Norway (maybe 200 or 300 meters, oh, I can hardly guess). The pitches are unparceled and you can actually stand wherever... you like. The sanitary facilities are okay, a bit old but clean. There is a store on the site where you can do a little shopping and there is something like a fast food stand. I could imagine spending a longer vacation there and would probably have done so if I had known what to expect in Stavanger, for example... And for all those heading north: At Flekkefjord, be sure to turn left onto the 44. Narrow and winding, but beautiful.Automātiski tulkots.
- Familie B.August 2014PozitīviWell located for excursions, very nice beach, which is located directly at the campsite, pitches under trees quite niceNegatīvaisLots of mosquitoes, lots of waspsSolalaWe were here for one day. Nevertheless, we would like to briefly describe our perceptions. The campsite is conveniently located for excursions, the pitches are under trees. Not all the pitches are level and make it difficult to align a camper van or motorhome. Unfortunately, it was not possible to eat... outside in the evening as we were bothered by the many mosquitoes. There is a children's playground, which was actually quite nice. However, our two children didn't want to play there because there were so many wasps buzzing around. The nearby garbage containers may attract the wasps, as they are also swarming around. The sanitary building and the garbage containers are about 10 meters away from the playground. A little further away from the garbage containers, the wasp plague may not exist, as long as you don't have children, the wasps don't bother you because nobody wants to go to the playground. When we wanted to have breakfast in the morning when the weather was nice, the wasps were annoying again, so we had breakfast inside in the sunshine. The sanitary facilities in Norway take some getting used to, as some of them are very basic. Not a problem for us. However, the lack of cleanliness left us speechless. Dead insects everywhere on the floor in the shower, plaster and hair lying in the shower all day long. The men's room reeked of urine. What is very nice is the beach, which is right next to the campsite. The water was clean, as was the beach. The slide in the pictures was closed during our stay in August. The disadvantages outweighed the advantages, so we quickly moved on.Automātiski tulkots.
- Nicola J.July 2014PozitīviBeautiful location and good facilities.NegatīvaisDrunken pensioners. Not a cheap site.Beautiful locationWe really enjoyed our stay at Sjøsanden. The pine forest was ideal for camping and the beach absolutely stunning. It was not overcrowded, even though it was towards the end of 'fellesferie', the Norwegian holiday month. Useful to have a basic shop and restaurant. Pleasant forest walks 'on the doorstep'.... Also a stone's throw from the pretty little town of Mandal and larger shops. The only downside was a rowdy drunken group of pensioners making noise at night a peeing on pitches... in Norway is seems to be the older people who get drunk and antisocial, not the kids! Maybe we were unlucky...
- Mi J.July 2011Comparatively expensive place - but pleasant for transit, you stand under trees - unparceled, beach just around the corner, Madal also, snack bar on the square (expensive fun)... sanitary facilities are cleaned 2x/day. Everything was okay ... we'll be back on our next trip to Norway ;)Automātiski tulkots.
