- Alexander H.August 2021Positive tingPeace, friendliness, cleanlinessNegative tingRoad not pavedWonderfully quietPerfect starting point for visiting Maramures. Idyllic and extremely quiet campsite. Very friendly owners, very clean, but only one toilet for men when fully occupied, a bit small.
Road is about 1.5 km unpaved, coarse gravel, the last 300 m moderately steep and only about 2.8 m wide.
We had no problem at all with 5.5m caravans, and there were also 7m motorhomes.
If you can drive, you can get there.

The young Dutch owners are very friendly and helpful and speak English. The site is very lovingly laid out, e.g. several seating areas with parasols and hammocks. The small farm nearby offers very good... food if you book in advance. We were there for dinner, for a small price there is schnapps, water, appetizer platter, soup, main course and dessert, you will be more than full. The access road to the campsite is really narrow on the last 900 meters or so and has a fairly coarse gravel surface, so larger vehicles and caravans will have problems there. You should follow the directions and the instructions of the campsite operator. Once you have reached your destination, you will find a natural paradise and total peace and relaxation. The site is also very suitable for star photography, with little light pollution. We will certainly be back.Automatisk oversatt.

- Werner S.June 2015Positive tingabsolutely quiet and extremely idyllic CP with very nice operators and a great Sunday dinner for a small priceNegative tingChemical toilets with blue agents must not be emptied (only biodegradable - green labeling)Highly recommended CP in an extremely quiet and idyllic locationHighly recommended, idyllic and extremely quiet campsite in a wonderful location with a beautiful view; no dogs barking at night, which is something special in Romania; the young Dutch operators are very nice and helpful and speak perfect English; the 2 farmhouses and the former stable, now gutted and... turned into a sanitary building and an apartment with kitchen, are all well over 60 years old; the conversion is perfect and so is the atmosphere; the site is also very lovingly laid out, e.g. several seating areas with parasols and a herb garden for self-service; on Sundays, the neighbor of the campsite invites you to dinner on her farm, approx. 500 meters away. For example, there are several seating areas with sunshades and a herb garden where you can help yourself; on Sundays, the neighbor of the campsite invites you to dinner on her farm, about 500 meters away; for a small price, you get schnapps, wine, water, starter platter, soup, main course and dessert; it was the best meal in the 2 weeks we spent in Romania; in addition, the hosts were extremely friendly; the access road to the campsite is really narrow on the last approx. 500 meters is really narrow and has a rather coarse gravel surface; I wouldn't want to drive it with more than a van under 6 meters; once you have reached your destination, a natural paradise opens up and the total peace and relaxation comes naturally; the other guests here are also remarkably nice in their dealings with each other; the house and farm dog is extremely good-natured and very grateful for a few strokes; perfect camping weather in June - summery warm during the day and nice and cool to sleep in at night; there is only one disadvantage on this campsite - chemical toilets may only be emptied with the green, biodegradable agent (i.e. not with the blue one);Automatisk oversatt.
- Günther H.June 2014Nature campingGreat place in the middle of nature with a wonderful view of the Ukrainian mountains. The young owners are friendly and helpful and also speak German. Sanitary facilities simple but clean. Dogs are allowed to run free.Automatisk oversatt.
- Ulrich B.August 2013The place is great! We drove there with an alcove camper van. It was a bit strenuous, but afterwards it was all the better. The owner couple are really nice.Automatisk oversatt.
- Christoph F.July 2013By far the most beautifully situated site (out of 7) on our first caravan tour through Romania. Wonderful view in a lovely landscape far into the Ukraine. Sanitary facilities very clean and tidy, as was the site. The access road through the village is unpaved for the last 500m (difficult for huge motorhomes/caravans).... The location makes up for almost everything. Dedicated Dutch owners who also stay in the country in winter, which is the exception. WLan on large parts of the site. Excellent starting point for the beautiful Maramures. It is a pity that this site is not listed in all the major camping guides (e.g. ADAC).Automatisk oversatt.
- La C.July 2013The campsite is run by a sweet Dutch couple - very friendly! The site is also very nice, clean, but a bit wild, not as sterile as we are used to in Western Europe. The sanitary facilities are clean and well maintained.Automatisk oversatt.
- Ariane B.May 2013The road to the campsite is narrow in places and on an unpaved road. We got there easily with a 6m bus and a width of 2.05m. Once you reach the site, it's amazing! On the edge of the village of Breb with a view over the surrounding hills. Quiet, idyllic, peaceful. The site and its facilities have been lovingly designed. Shopping facilities are available in the surrounding villages. If you are looking for peace and quiet, you will find it here.Automatisk oversatt.
- Harald M.August 2012Camping Babou is located off the beaten track in the incredibly beautiful Maramures countryside. The last part of the road is not paved, so everyone should be aware that you will have to travel along partly rutted dirt tracks to get there. But this is precisely why the location is so dreamlike: in the... middle of a picture-book landscape of small pastures and hay meadows, separated by hedges, criss-crossed by footpaths, sometimes tiny fields, many plum trees and scattered farmsteads. Everything is easy to hike through without barriers. The site itself offers electricity, free Wi-Fi, very well-maintained and clean sanitary facilities with hot showers. It is run by a Dutch couple in their early 30s, who are friendly and helpful in answering any questions and providing tips. The famous wooden churches are within easy reach.Automatisk oversatt.
- Frank-Helmut W.July 2012Access to the site is from the center of Breb via a completely unpaved road of almost one kilometer, which is probably only passable in dry weather due to the slopes and loose ground - unless you have four-wheel drive. Accessible for vehicles no wider than 2.30 m and no longer than 6 m. The site is very natural; the (very clean) sanitary facilities are located in the converted and renovated part of an old farm, idyllic tranquillity!Automatisk oversatt.
