- Sylvia P.July 2010First of all: I personally really enjoyed my week at Camping Julia, as the only non-Italian on site. Basically, it's a rather simple site. Situated in a tall pine forest, adjacent to the protected pine forest belt on the coast. Partly parceled out pitches, not parceled out for tents. Electrical facilities... and sanitary building outdated but well maintained. Sanitary facilities are cleaned 3 times a day. Due to the old-fashioned design, however, you immediately drag sand back in from outside on your shoes. In addition, in July in the evening there are beetles the size of cockchafers that get lost in the sanitary buildings after dark, attracted by the lights, can't find their way out and, well, die there. So it takes some getting used to. Toilets available, shower with hot water included. Washbasin and dishes only cold. Coin-operated washing machines were purchased last summer. Beach accessible via a 500 m long, unshaded, dusty gravel road through the forest - shuttle runs regularly. Beach managed and free, wonderful, almost no people, clean, sand, sea quite clear. Animation team really great, friendly and courteous. Evening entertainment from 10:30 pm to 1 am. Pizzeria on site super cheap (marinara 3 €). Located just outside Metaponto Lido. You can be there by car in 5 minutes and will also find a few restaurants and a few places to stroll around. Nearest ATM in Metaponto town, about 7 minutes by car. Nearest large shopping center about 15 minutes on the Ionica in the direction of Reggio Calabria. Mostly large families in old caravans and old tents, but everything is well looked after. Also extremely sociable if you only speak a few words of Italian. I liked it. But I think that the campsite will certainly not be everyone's cup of tea, especially if the bar is set at the campsites on the upper Adriatic...Automatisk oversatt.
