"nice stopover,cozy bar - the road is quite narrow,best not encounter oncoming traffic,better drive a little further and at the larger intersection turn right and back right.small places but the (brown pub), cozy bar makes up for a lot, good satellite reception, immediate surroundings nothing to see,village left and right about 2 km. I will come back again for a stopover.

"Outdated campsite on the outskirts of the village - The site is located near the unkempt pebble beach, approx. 1.5 km from the nearest town. Reception with small shop and adjoining bar/restaurant only opens at 09.00 in the morning. Staff speak Spanish and English. The restaurant is okay and the prices reasonable, English operator and entertainment in the bar most evenings. Small paddling pool for children. 3 small, completely outdated sanitary buildings, each with 2 showers for men/women where only a little lukewarm water is available even after a long wait, unheated WC rooms even in winter, all very cold and hardly usable in the morning. Some of the showers still have plastic curtains and there is no paper for drying hands at the toilets. Most of the pitches are quite small except for a few more expensive larger pitches for an extra charge. All under many trees and difficult to access, especially for larger mobile homes. Electricity costs extra, water tap with sink on approx. every 2nd pitch. Use of washing machine costs 5.50 euros. Numerous mobile homes of permanent campers in the middle area, most guests come from England. Conclusion: We won't be back because of the poor sanitary facilities.

"Top place near Benicarlo - Stayed here with the WMo. Large pitches, electricity included, near Benicarlo, in Benicarlo start of a very nice promenade to Peniscola; beach directly in front of the pitch, but gravel, dogs allowed, very clean sanitary facilities, a little older but top, very hot water which is rare on campsites, friendly and helpful staff, good restaurant, entertainment every day, not so appealing for us because we are on the road a lot by bike, but if you like a change, why not. Small but clean swimming pool. The place makes a very clean impression in contrast to the surroundings; everyone still has something to learn. The campsite is highly recommended!

" - We stayed at this campsite from Sept. to the end of Oct. 2013 - at first we only wanted to stay for 2 days, but it turned into 5 weeks. It was really nice and quiet. You quickly make contact with the neighbors and experience 18x already here, others longer or shorter. Some have the caravan permanently parked and fly home cheaply from Valencia. Approx. 80 meters to the pebble beach. Very clean water. Water shoes would be very good for the stones. Even if I have trouble walking, getting in and out of the water is a bit of an effort. We usually went by car in the direction of Peniscarlo about 5 km (the road running parallel to the beach) and then had a wonderful sandy beach. We combined this with daily shopping. The price for a couple, caravan, pitch, electricity incl. hot shower approx. 20.00 euros. 20% discount after 1 week, up to 40% from 29 days. Only in the high season the discounts do not apply. The electricity prices are also without discounts. The space for our pitch was just big enough for the 7.80 long caravan. We couldn't put up the awning because we had to leave about 2 meters behind the caravan due to branches of a pine tree, also because of the antenna. We would love to come back again. The longer you stay, you get to know Benicarlo, find all the everyday things (market, tapas, restaurant, bank, etc.), so that the environment becomes more and more ideal from day to day. By the way, the weather was so great, even on the last day of October the sun was 28 degrees and the water was an estimated 22 degrees - so warm that you could go into the water without shivering.

Profil

Camping Alegria del Mar is a British and Spanish familly run campsite that has been open since 1986 middle size with 145 pitches. The beach is just 50m away with a direct access. Benicarló is in walking distance ( aprox …1.5km) by a small promenade next to the sea. We have 3 shower and toilet blocks, WIFI available on all site, British Satellite t.v connectionson all itches ( remember to bring a satellite receiver), water with wash-up baison on most pitches, swimming pool, children´s play area, washing machines, dryer, baby changing room with bath, terrace and bar-restaurant. The bar-restaurant serves variety of international foods, Paellas, Tapas, sandwiches, pizza, burgers etc... There is always a nice ambience on site 70-80% of our costumers have stayed with us before. Perfect for a long or short stay in the winter or summer at any time of the year.
