- Cora S.juli 2022Positive tingBeautiful, quiet location. Clean plumbing. Well maintained. Shade and sun on the sites. Fun things to do in the area.Negative tingWifi was problematic.Camping Eggewald, just do it!A terraced campground that offers more than its website suggests. Located in the foothills of the Teutoburg Forest in the Egge Mountains, this small-scale, quiet campground has about 60 pitches. The well-kept sites are spacious and screened by hedges and apple trees. Sites for campers and caravans have... terrace tiles and a grassy area. Tents are mainly on the terraces which can sometimes slope a bit, so be careful how you pitch your tent in relation to your sleeping spot There is a lovely little swimming pool, a library in a telephone booth, a ping pong table and playground at the end of the campsite and an (indoor) recreation room for youngsters from 6 to 11 (?) with table soccer and games. The campsite has no pin, so cash is paid on arrival, washing dishes costs 5 euro cents for hot water, and the shower is 1 Euro. There is also a washer and dryer, each costs 3 Euros. The showers and toilets are quite modern and clean. The WiFi did not work, whether it was a problem with the cable in the village or the location too low in the valley, is not clear.
Groceries can be done in Altenbeken (5km) or in Horn (8-9km). Four times a week, around 8:30 a.m., a mobile baker with a tasty assortment is at the campsite. He lets you hear loudly honking that he is there. Sights in the vicinity are the Externsteine, Hermann's Denkmal, half-timbered houses in Dettmold, Bird Show, Adlerwarten, Eggeturm etc., and a little further (80km) the beautiful Bergpark Wilhelmshöhe in Kassel. And of course at the campsite the wonderful tractor museum. Definitely do not miss!
As mentioned on the website, reserving a spot is indeed not necessary. When we were there in July 2022, not even 50% of the spots were occupied, which is a pity because you will not regret visiting this campsite. Just do it!Automatisk oversatt. - Arne K.juni 2022Positive tingRest Tractor museum on the square PoolNegative tingAccess to WLAN not possible No cell phone connection at the pitchQuiet and well-keptLovely little rustic campsite with very fair rates. Pitches mainly laid out with paving slabs, so awning not possible. Electricity and water not available on site.
Overall, however, a beautiful and well-kept site with charm. Sanitary facilities are simple and dated, but always clean.Automatisk oversatt. - Marcus K.august 2021Positive tingquiet great surroundings friendly operatorsNegative tingfor me noBeautiful campsite in a quiet locationI was there for one night with my tent and bike and everything went as it should. It was very quiet and the campers were very friendly.
A bakery truck came in the morning, so you can go on a tour with more energy.
A great starting point for the Hermannsweg.Automatisk oversatt. - Rainer G.oktober 2020Positive tingQuiet campsite in beautiful natural surroundings with excellent conditions for hikers and cyclists. The site offers a swimming pool in summer with pools in cooling fresh water. There is a barbecue hut, a small play area and quite large pitches with hedge borders. There is also a nice quiet location.Negative tingThe sanitary facilities are dated but clean. Could make way for a new building.Nature camping in the Eggewald forestThe owners are very nice and helpful, but can't be there 24 hours a day for everything, as everyone has a right to privacy!
Ideal as a starting point for hikes and bike tours.
Also good for an intermediate stop, on tour, to explore the sights.Automatisk oversatt. - Sandra N.oktober 2020Positive tingPitches, peace and quiet, friendliness, helpfulness, value for money, free WLANNegative tingThere were no disadvantages for usHighly recommended! The campsite is not too big and very well maintained. The individual pitches are beautifully framed with hedges, equipped with stone slabs for the caravans and motorhomes to stand securely and look appealing and cozy.
The Glitz family is very friendly and helpful!
The sanitary facilities are a little... older, but always spotlessly clean and the showers are well separated with doors inside the cubicle, so that you don't have a shower curtain stuck to you or get all your things wet. The shower time is very long for one euro, I have never had to pay extra.
Wi-Fi is available and the reception is free and very good.
There is a pool and a Kneipp pool for the warmer months.
There is also a herb garden for visitors and a telephone box with books to round off a great stay.
The family's tractor museum invites you to explore and is highly recommended.
We felt completely at home!Automatisk oversatt. - Flo K.august 2020Positive ting-Public pool, which unfortunately can only be used to a limited extent and for a short time.Negative ting-very secluded -rude landlord -unclean toilets -dog excrement on the camping meadowsNot recommended! The reception was already rude. Even later, the landlord checked on us at regular intervals to criticize even minor things loudly and rudely. If you want to relax during your vacation, you should avoid this place!Automatisk oversatt.
- Heiko S.september 2019Positive tingVery ideal for relaxing. Very ideal as a starting point for sightseeing in the area.Negative tingHave not found anySmall but mighty.....Small, fine campsite in a quiet location surrounded by beautiful nature. There is a barbecue hut, a large children's playground and a pool for the summer. Well-kept and clean sanitary facilities. Also important: helpful campsite operatorsAutomatisk oversatt.
- Beate K.oktober 2018Positive tingWonderful peace and quiet and the tractor museum!Negative tingThe sanitary facilities and it is pitch dark at night! No cell phone reception! No shopping facilities! You feel like you've been transported back to the 70s! The sanitary facilities are terrible!Shower at below 10 degrees without heating! No toilet paper! Even for the washing up you have to pay to get hot water! Pitch dark at night! The lights go out! The museum is great and really worth seeing! The campsite is run down! One night more in no case! If you have everything on board and are looking for peace and quiet and are willing to pay € 20 for it, this is the right place!!! We had the feeling that the operator was just cashing inAutomatisk oversatt.
- Marlies M.juli 2018Positive tingQuiet, beautiful location, friendly and helpful operators.Negative tingThe sanitary facilities, which are too small for the size of the spaceAn oasisA beautifully situated, simple and very quiet place, the facilities very well maintained. There is a small pool to cool off in and a Kneipp pool with its own water source. In the high season, a bread roll service delivers fresh bread rolls and pastries in the morning. Only the sanitary facilities, although... clean, are too few for the size of the pitch, especially the showers, and quite basic. The operator couple is very friendly and always up for a chat. All in all, if you want to experience camping in its original form, this is the place for you.Automatisk oversatt.
- Annika W.mai 2018Positive tingShort distances to various sights such as ExternsteineNegative tingOutdated sanitary facilitiesClean but getting on in yearsWe stayed here for 1 night for a stopover on the way to the Externsteine. A bit dated, but the sanitary facilities and the campsite were clean.Automatisk oversatt.
- Christoph K.mai 2018Positive tingPeace, relaxation, mountain biking, hiking, walking, romanceNegative tingSanitary facilitiesLots of peace and quietNice quiet place with farm charm. Operator friendly and helpful. Sanitary facilities not so good, relatively clean but getting on in years.Automatisk oversatt.
- Heinz J.april 2017Positive tingVery quiet location.Negative tingNo internet reception possible, the pitch is in a hollow.Ideal parking space for motorhomesMotorhomes can be parked on the property outside the campsite. Electricity, supply and disposal completely available. Friendly welcome from the owner. The tractor museum on site is an absolute must! As a motorhome owner, I can't comment on the campsite facilities. Was very satisfied!Automatisk oversatt.
- Kai U.september 2016Positive tingNature, peaceNegative tingNo possibility to access the Internet, not even with a mobile network.Very quiet campsite in beautiful natureWe chose the campsite to visit Paderborn, the Exersteine and Hermannsdenkmal. We would have stayed longer if the weather had been nice.Automatisk oversatt.
- Monika B.september 2015Positive tingSmall, very quiet place, ideal for hiking, cycling and cultureNegative tingYou should have food with you - at least in the low season and for the first nightFine campsiteWe were there for a short weekend at the end of September. At first we thought we were the only ones there. After all, it was the off-season. The next morning we were taught better. The reception was not manned, but the intercom and barrier worked very well. The grass pitches are paved so that there... is no risk of the vehicle sinking in when it is wet/raining. The sanitary facilities are small, not the newest, but clean and functional. Bathing shoes are even provided at the entrance to the showers so that you don't have to enter the shower rooms in street shoes - if you don't have any with you. I didn't see a kiosk and I can't say whether there is a bread roll service, we didn't see anything. But we didn't ask either. Otherwise everything went well. In summer there is a small pool where you can cool off or for the children. The site is ideal for hiking, with woods in the front and old trees in the back. From here you can get directly onto the Herrmannsweg, and I also spotted a cycle path. The area itself offers a lot of interesting history and culture.Automatisk oversatt.
- Karl-Heinrich H.september 2013The owner is extremely helpful and courteous. The pitches are very large. Always recommended for a stopover. Cell phone reception not possible, at least for 1&1 and O². The site makes a clean and well-kept impression. Groceries etc. only available in the surrounding towns.Automatisk oversatt.
- Martin F.juni 2013Very nice! Extremely nice people, the tractor museum is really worth seeing. Everything on the site is prepared with an incredible amount of love, hot showers are available even after 22:00. There isn't all the latest fancy stuff (WiFi, Wlan etc), but there is a lot of warmth. Conclusion: We will definitely go there again!Automatisk oversatt.
- Margit und Stefan S.september 2012All in all, a clean and tidy campsite, but without comfort. Facilities (sanitary, etc.) outdated but clean. The pitches are straight and very tidy. It is a pity that there are no shops within walking distance. For hot water to wash dishes you pay 0.05 EUR... (small dishwashing 2 persons). There are leisure activities in the area, but you are dependent on a car. More suitable for caravan tourists and self-caterers.Automatisk oversatt.
- Ulrich T.april 2012A somewhat outdated rural campsite, but with plenty of rural charm. CP owner Johannes Glitz is always up for a chat. Many permanent campers. Small, quaint museum for tractors & fire engines, also or especially interesting for children. Reasonable and spacious pitches, partly protected from view by hedges.... Meadow for tents, which offers a beautiful view over the campsite and the valley as well as morning sun. Therefore also ideal for motorcyclists traveling through with a tent. Dog owners can reach hiking trails or meadows in no time at all, where dogs can relieve themselves or romp around (I've been there myself with a dog). The playground is very large and offers plenty of opportunities for development (small stream with water wheel attached). Kids can still play close to nature here, not like in the "play cages" on some other campsites. Leisure activities mainly hiking, cycling or motorcycle tours. Wonderful landscape, highest point of the Eggegebirge with impressive viewing tower can be easily reached on foot (45 - 60 min). Shopping facilities except for bread service in the village not given, but in my opinion fits perfectly with the rural idyll of the place. Barbecue hut with large, brick barbecue and fire pit above the site (approx. 300m) Ideal for a group evening around the campfire. Reservations may be necessary for the barbecue hut in high season, simply call. Wood can be organized by the CP owner or in the village. The campsite also has a covered fire pit with a swing barbecue which can be used if necessary (e.g. in bad weather). Sanitary facilities not the newest but clean and equipped with toilet paper. A small outdoor pool is accessible in summer, which is too small for swimming but offers a nice way to cool off. Conclusion: If you're looking for a break from hectic everyday life and can live without the internet, this is the place for you. A solid campsite that doesn't offer the highest standard, but more than makes up for this with its idyllic location and rural charm. Tip: Arrive at Easter and experience the fiery spectacle of the Easter bike race in nearby Feldrom & enjoy the Easter egg hunt for the kids on the campsite.Automatisk oversatt.
