- Bettina u.Klaus G.October 2023Positive tingPanoramaNegative tingSmall Polish trucks are taken in, which leave the engine running (battery/air conditioning?) The noise and smell are unbearable. The site management is unable to change this despite being informed.Never againAs already said: Great panorama, but never again under these conditions, for no money in the world.Automatisk oversatt.
- Annemarie K.July 2023Positive tingSuper location, quiet, clean.Negative tingUnfortunately, the hot water didn't work. But as it was quite warm, it was a nice way to cool down.Top locationWe also visited the castle on the other side of the Loire. It's easy to reach on foot by bike.Automatisk oversatt.
- Petra H.June 2019Positive tingLocationNegative tingSanitary could be betterFrance 2019Stop in Gien: great place with large pitches. Pool available, view of the town, next to the cp there is an organic supermarket where you can order bread or shop at a bakery about 300 m away. Sanitary simple but ok.Automatisk oversatt.
- Bettina u.Klaus G.October 2018Positive tingS.o,on the banks of the Loire with a view of the town of GienNegative tingS.o.otherwise nothing worth mentioning.Beautiful place, top locationWe have stayed there several times, the main reason being the great location on the Loire and the magnificent view of the town of Gien. The friendliness of the staff and the people in general should be emphasized. The place is ok, although there should be more than two toilets in the NS.Automatisk oversatt.
- Andreas S.August 2018Beautiful viewA larger site with an estimated 150 to 200 pitches on the banks of the Loire, opposite the town of Gien. Friendly reception in English and a member of staff would also have been available for German. There is a free choice of pitches and lots of trees provide plenty of shade. The ground consists of grass,... which now, at the end of the season, looks very worn. From the front rows you have a beautiful view of the town of Gien, which can be reached on foot in 15 minutes. The front row is reserved for tent guests. We paid €23 for a motorhome with 2 adults and electricity in mid-August. Wifi costs €7 per day. The sanitary facilities are unisex, showers are free and there is even paper in the toilets, but no glasses. When it got dark, hordes of small flies swarmed over us and forced us to retreat into the motorhome. 50m from the campsite there is a nice little supermarket with mainly regional products. Baguettes for breakfast should be ordered there in advance. We wavered between 3 and 4 stars for the overall rating. The feel-good factor was ultimately the deciding factor.Automatisk oversatt.
- Detlef P.June 2017Positive tingGood as a transit CP; decent overallNegative tingnonePlace on the LoirePlace is located directly on the Loire with a view of Gien; the town gives little; Places hardly parceled out, partly large meadows, everyone places as he likes; works great; Sanitary as almost everywhere: mediocre; WLAN for a fee OK; Road from the opposite bank partly noisy; Cycle paths not so good; Shopping in Gien (10 minutes walk)Automatisk oversatt.
- Fokko H.June 2017Positive tinggood location, good view, sanitary facilities goodNegative tingno shopping facilities on site, restaurant on site rather mediocrebeautiful place with a view of the Loire and GienGood location, great view of Gien; good service at the reception; sanitary facilities good and clean; bread is not available on site but at the next crossroads, a bicycle is recommended here; the pitches are not directly subdivided (i.e. separated by hedges or similar); the restaurant on site was rather... below average and not to be recommended. We were able to walk our dog directly from the campsite to the Loire, which we and the dog really enjoyed. We would choose this campsite again for a stopover.Automatisk oversatt.
- Ferdinand S.September 2016Positive tingBeautiful location, quiet, large pitchesNegative tingMaintenance and care of the sanitary areas somewhat careless, few shopping facilities in the immediate vicinityA good place for cycle touristsDirectly on the banks of the Loire, about 110 pitches for motorhomes and caravans, mostly very large, partly parceled out with hedges, partly meadow divided by posts, mostly with little shade, smaller pitches reserved for tents on the banks, the rest occupied by mobile homes and rental tents. Pitches... freely selectable. Partly beautiful view over the Loire to the small town of Gien. Two sanitary buildings, properly equipped with toilets (sometimes even with paper), wash cubicles, hot showers, baby washing and changing room, disabled toilet and sink. The water pressure could be higher, but the half-calcified showers just about fulfill their purpose. The fact that the locking mechanisms on two of the four shower cubicles in one of the sanitary buildings had crumbled is less amusing. The operators should be forced to use their own facilities themselves from time to time, the cleaning crew obviously doesn't notice such things, but that really doesn't only apply to this site. There are washing machines in the entrance area and waste can also be disposed of there. Breakfast can be ordered in the store in front of the site, there is a restaurant on site and a small swimming pool. WIFI internet costs €3 a day or €15 a week, so you can also use your own smartphone as a hotspot, which is even cheaper depending on the tariff and data requirements. The Loire cycle path runs right past the campsite on a quiet road.Automatisk oversatt.
- Margitta D.July 2016Positive tingSpacious parking space and great delicatessenNegative tingSanitary facilities cleaned too infrequently for the number of visitorsLarge pitches; peace and quiet to "come down"A quiet place to arrive on large pitches; great delicatessen just around the corner; you should be mobile for excursions. Little contact with the staff; somewhat impersonal. Gien itself can be conquered in one day. Lots of options for smaller children. Sanitary facilities have potential in terms of cleanliness.Automatisk oversatt.
- Birgit 5.July 2014Positive tingCentral locationPlace directly on the LoireAlthough we arrived outside opening hours, the access road was opened for us and we were able to choose a pitch. The campsite is opposite the old town of Gien, which is within easy walking distance. The location is very central for many excursions in the surrounding area.Automatisk oversatt.
- Renate G.April 2014Positive tingNice location, good starting point for sightseeingNegative tingWifi expensive and only during office hoursThe site is beautifully situated on the Loire. You can hear the road on the other side of the river quite well. It didn't bother us as it was quiet at night. The campsite advertises on the website with wifi throughout the campsite, but you have to buy it on a daily basis and it only works during office... hours (7:00 to 12:00 and 14:00 to 19:00). We found this a bit annoying as you are often out and about at these times. Otherwise friendly reception, we arrived at midday and were still allowed onto the pitch. Free choice of pitch, registration later. There was (at least when we were there in April/NS) no possibility to pre-order baguettes and the like. The paths to fetch water are very long, depending on where you are, as it is only possible at the wash house. In low season only one wash house was open.Automatisk oversatt.
- Jörg K.June 2013Good place to explore Gien and the surrounding area. Sanitary facilities not up to date, but clean. Good store around the corner.Automatisk oversatt.
- Helmut M.September 2012Despite NS, the place was full. It must be nice here in summer. In the background the Loire, on the other side Gien, which was unfortunately badly destroyed in the war. - So we were told. Well suited as a transit site.Automatisk oversatt.
- Thomas M.August 2010Located directly on the Loire. Plenty of space with lots of trees. We were able to choose our own place to spend the night.Automatisk oversatt.
