- Thomas H.September 2019Positive tingArea for day campersNegative tingRestaurant.Special areas for day campersFor day campers there are four areas where you can freely choose a pitch. The bread roll service is fine. The restaurant is at best a snack bar, but a schnitzel costs over €13...Automatisk oversatt.

- Hagen F.June 2019Positive tingBasically quiet, friendly, uncomplicated. Beautiful swimming lake (currently under construction) in the middle of the campsite.Negative tingHere and there should be modernized (existing sports facilities, sanitary building), the bathing lake is still "under construction". Gastronomy moderate.Spacious, friendly and uncomplicated. With upward potential. We (2 adults, 1 dog) stayed at "Schinderhannes" Country Camping over the Ascension weekend in perfect weather. The approach is a bit bumpy, but absolutely ok if you keep to the recommended speed. The reception was extremely friendly and nice. I was even informed in detail that I could have saved a lot... of money with the ACSI card. Bread rolls can be ordered and collected there at acceptable prices. What I like: no rip-offs with electricity and shower tokens - both are simply included in the pitch fee. Easy. Opposite the reception are three pitches for transit campers, who can simply stay here coupled up. The campsite is very spacious and offers many separate areas, so everyone will find a corner to suit them. There are sunny meadow areas and shady pitches under trees. Separate areas for groups (with campfires) contribute to a relaxed atmosphere among the campers. The ground is rather soft, probably even softer after prolonged rain. Electricity connections for every pitch (the distribution boards are the only indication of possible pitches), water is just a few steps away, but not at every pitch. The sanitary facilities are getting on in years, as already described here several times, but the number is sufficient and well maintained. The sanitary building also has a chemical toilet sink, scullery, washing machines and dryers. Yes, there are a few tiles to be repaired in the entrance area - so what? The highlight of the site is the large bathing lake in the middle. With pitches right on the shore, it invites you to splash around and take a dinghy. A bathing pontoon is apparently in preparation (as of 01.06.19). Dogs are not allowed in the lake (which is a good thing), they will have their own lake right next door in 2020 - that's a great idea. During our stay, earthworks were taking place on the shore area, which was associated with corresponding noise. We were informed of this at reception, the noise was bearable, but it was there during the day. However, there is obviously investment in the site and its development, which is good and unfortunately not the case everywhere. Sports activities are possible on the tennis court, the basketball court or at the table tennis table right by the lake - all of which are obviously not very busy and in need of an overhaul. The homepage of the campsite does not currently exist and the telephone number given on Camping.info is incorrect (you can find the correct one on Google Maps: 06746 3889797). Maybe that's why the site wasn't nearly full despite the long weekend and sunshine. For those (like me) who want to work a little: Wifi (free public hotspot) is available in the reception and restaurant area. Mobile data and telephone not possible, especially in the lower area. Both have their good points :-) We didn't visit the home-style restaurant with a very "Schni-Po"-oriented menu, outdoor terrace and adjacent playground. Instead, we had a great day hiking on the Rheinsteig with a visit to the Loreley (14 km from the campsite, with a ferry across the Rhine). A well-maintained and paved cycle path also runs alongside the site, apparently on a disused railroad line. If you want to take a break from the hustle and bustle of the Rhine and the Loreley, you can do so here. We liked the place, but I don't know if we'll come back - there's still so much to discover....Automatisk oversatt.
- Eckard B.April 2019Positive tingNice people, quiet and cheapNegative tingnoneQuiet place near the highwayVery quiet place despite being close to the highway. Nice staff, good bread roll service. Large pitches and reasonable prices in the restaurant too. Good food.Automatisk oversatt.
- Cornelia G.September 2018Positive ting- Peace and quiet, relaxed atmosphere - beautiful landscape - large pitchesNegative ting- Poor lightingA relaxing vacationWe spent 12 days at the Schinderhannes campsite. We had a beautiful, large pitch in the countryside, which we were allowed to choose ourselves, and the campsite is very large and spacious. There is a bread roll service. The sanitary facilities are not the most modern, but were always clean. We just found... it a bit strange that both the shower and wash cubicles were not lockable. But it wasn't really bad ;-) The surrounding area is ideal for hiking, there are several dream loops nearby. The Rhine (St. Goar, Oberwesel) can also be reached quickly. You can definitely spend a relaxing, but also active vacation in the countryside here. The tenant couple are very nice and helpful and you can also eat well in the restaurant.Automatisk oversatt.
- Jörg S.May 2018Positive tingVery nice location, lots of tips for excursions at the reception, almost no cell phone receptionNegative tingno garbage bins on the square, everything a bit older, almost no cell phone receptionLots of landscapeWe were with 2 adults, 2 children (9 & 11 years) and a camper van with awning from 10.05.2018 to 13.10.2018 at the "Country Camping Schinderhannes". We paid €18 for this DCC Plus pitch including showers. The campsite is easy to reach from the highway and well signposted. The access road is a little bumpy,... so the 10 km/h recommended by the sign makes sense. In addition to a large pitch area for transit campers, there are various areas further down the site. We were allowed to choose a pitch. The pitches are not parceled out, but are easy to allocate thanks to the power supply posts. We found a nice spot between the pond and the wash house in the pouring rain and have rarely stood in such a beautiful landscape! Electricity consumption is charged at a flat rate and the showers are free. In fact, all the washing facilities are older, but were clean and well maintained. Unfortunately, the lighting didn't work everywhere, so some toilets and showers were rather dark. We noticed the very spacious shower cubicles. Washing machines and a dishwashing room are available. In addition to the site's own pond, which can be used for fishing, swimming and boating, there is also a playground and a rather sleepy tennis and basketball court. Bread roll service was available from 08:00 at reasonable prices and in good quality. We didn't try the restaurant on the site. The Schinderhannes cycle path runs close to the site on an old railroad line from Emmelshausen to Simmern, which is great for cycling in a wonderful landscape. The proximity to the Rhine and the numerous destinations in the Hunsrück make this campsite a great base for excursions and explorations. We cycled to Kastellaun and had a very good meal in the castle there.Automatisk oversatt.
- Franz-Josef W.October 2017Positive ting- the restaurant - the quiet locationNegative ting- huge investment backlog in infrastructure and sanitary facilities - sometimes long distances to the sanitary facilitiesCountry camping could be so beautifulEven the approach to the campsite is extremely rudimentary. One pothole after another. When we finally arrive at the campsite, it is immediately apparent that this site has seen much better days. The paths on the site were once paved. Now they are littered with holes in the tar. There are no signs indicating... which pitches are intended or suitable for which camping vehicles or tents. As a result, our Womo on a very nice pitch was so caved in after 2 days that the operator's daughter had to recover our Womo with a wheel loader. The sanitary facilities are clean but totally outdated. The tiles in the entrance area are cracked and damaged. Today you can expect nicer facilities. The campsite restaurant serves tasty regional products. It is the absolute highlight of the campsite.Automatisk oversatt.
- Wolfgang H.August 2017Positive tingVery quiet, beautiful pitches.Negative tingThe small lake is hardly suitable for swimming.Camping site close to natureThe site is conveniently located on the A61 highway, yet far enough away so that there is no disruption from traffic noise. The site is very popular as an overnight stop on the north-south route, the pitches for such overnight stays are generous and the caravan can certainly remain coupled up. We used... the site for a short break (5 days) and were given a friendly welcome at reception, registration was quick and unbureaucratic. Free choice of pitch on the extensive grounds is a matter of course (there are also pitches on the small lake), we found a very large, absolutely quiet pitch in the lower part of the complex. The sanitary building is a bit outdated, but works perfectly and was also sufficiently clean, so there was no reason for dissatisfaction in this respect. We did not visit the site's own restaurant. The campsite is located on the "Schinderhannes cycle path", which connects the towns of Emmelshausen and Simmern on a disused railroad line (approx. 65 km), ideal for all cyclists. The campsite is also conveniently located for visiting the Geierlay suspension bridge or the nearby Rhine. Conclusion: A campsite close to nature, in a quiet location, which is also suitable for a longer vacation.Automatisk oversatt.
- Anna v.July 2016Positive tingProximity to the LoreleyNegative tingUphill walk to the bread roll in the morning :-)Perfect place for an overnight stay, an extra day even better! We were on our way south for the first time at Schinderhannes. You have to like the special humor of the campsite owner - we liked it. The place is incredibly beautiful, huge areas, partly completely empty, a small lake to let your feet dangle. Unplanned, we had to stay an extra day (the washing machine... coins are outrageously expensive!) and discovered and took advantage of the sudden proximity to the Loreley. Highly recommended as a starting point for this or other Rhine explorations! The tips from the campsite were very useful. The restaurant is simple and friendly. The sanitary facilities are great.Automatisk oversatt.
- Klaus H.March 2016Positive tingSpend the night connected, quiet despite being close to the highwayStopover on return journeyWe spent a night here on our return journey. Nice places where you can spend the night coupled up. Despite the proximity to the highway, absolutely nothing can be heard from it. We will definitely come back here for a long weekend.Automatisk oversatt.
- Jazman -.June 2014Positive tingStaff, cleanliness and locationNegative tingNo locks on the showersSimple place, but goodWe spent our honeymoon there. We were looking for a quiet campsite near the Rhine and found it. The location is great, as you can get to the Rhine quickly to go on excursions, but in a very quiet location without hearing the train traffic from the Rhine. It is a large, simple CP without fixed pitches.... You pitch where you like. The number of fresh water points is ok. There is a small lake on the site and a few play areas for children. There is also a kind of "western barn". However, I can't say whether there is a regular program or only in the high season. There is also a restaurant on site with Schnieztel, fries & co. However, we found it a bit expensive. Otherwise, you are also quickly in St. Goar where there is also a lot of gastronomy. The store sells fresh bread rolls, newspapers, milk etc. in the morning. If you're a late riser, you can pick up your bread rolls at reception after closing time and get everything else from the store. The staff are really nice and friendly and deserve a special mention here. This is more than standard. The sanitary facilities are the newest, but were super clean. Really top. The only thing we found that took some getting used to was that there are no locks in the showers. You have to hang your towel over the door in the hope that nobody can get in. When we asked, we were told this was for security reasons, as someone might have collapsed in the shower... There would certainly be other options. It's a simple place, but totally great and in a quiet location. We would come back again and again.Automatisk oversatt.
- Jürgen K.June 2014Positive tingQuiet location. Good starting point to the Rhine etc.Negative tingLong distances for self-sufficiency.Quiet place not far from the RhineWe received a friendly welcome and when there was a problem with sending a fax they tried to help us. We liked the location of the large site in the "countryside" and the terraced arrangement of the pitches as there was never a feeling of crowding. The wash houses are certainly getting on in years in... terms of appearance, but were always very clean. The restaurant was building a new terrace during our stay. However, we didn't visit the restaurant as we enjoyed our meals on our excursions to the Rhine. Shopping facilities are available in the district town of Simmern or in the Rhine villages. (Aldi, Lidl, Netto, Penny)Automatisk oversatt.
- Waltraud S.July 2013Positive tingGenerous and spacious, nice operatorsNegative tingThe restaurant didn't make such an inviting impression from the outside - didn't try it out.We spent some wonderful days here in 2013. Wonderfully quiet if you don't stay too close to the group campsite. Thank goodness it's not a super-luxury place but something to simply feel good, super nice people at reception. Cleanliness really good. Everything was spacious and extensive. For us as hikers an ideal starting point to hike dream loops in the Hunsrück. We will be back. We did not visit the restaurantAutomatisk oversatt.
- Klaus S.June 2013A very pleasant surprise. We only actually drove to the campsite because (as almost always) we left home too late and had to stay overnight. Very nice campsite with spacious pitches for "coupled overnight stays", nice infrastructure, friendly welcome (even in the restaurant after reception hours), uncomplicated... registration. There are clean and spacious sanitary facilities and a bread roll service, as well as a nice restaurant with a good price/performance ratio.Automatisk oversatt.
- Karola C.July 2012We found this beautiful and quiet campsite thanks to a tip from our children. We felt very comfortable. It's nice and big, so there's always enough space. Despite its size, it is well maintained and clean. You can swim in the lake and children have fun there too, and there are fresh bread rolls every morning. The restaurant is great and the prices are right. We would love to come back.Automatisk oversatt.
- Günter B.October 2011I went to the info meeting 7/11/2011 and unfortunately got to know a very bad-tempered owner (boss) we wanted to inform ourselves about the Russia trips but since I as a BELGIAN cannot show an identification card (e.g. ADAC card) and the A.C.S.i. Club Carte is not considered a registered club.Club Carte... is not regarded as a registered club "I" judge this procedure as patronizing hostility towards foreigners, which I have experienced for the first time in Germany "Too bad" I will unfortunately have to travel with another provider who knows how to deal with his new customers "A dream comes to an end so quickly".Automatisk oversatt.Besvart fra Country Camping Schinderhannes June 25, 2012Unfortunately, Korando 03 was unable to make us understand that a self-labeled cardboard card cut out of a book is not a document deposit.
An ACSI Club ID card or another genuine document (passport, Camping Card International, automobile club card, library card, health insurance card, train ticket, etc.) would have been regarded as such without any problems.Automatisk oversatt. - Günter R.April 2011On the whole, the place is nice and centrally located. However, the site has no paved pitches with water and drainage (as stated in the brochure) and if it rains heavily for 1-2 days you have a problem getting off the pitch. Some pitches have a water connection for 12 pitches and in the lower area there... is a water connection for about 32 pitches. The showers have an alternating hot and cold bath. The toilet paper issue has already been mentioned several times. Something positive is the restaurant where you can eat good home cooking at reasonable prices.Automatisk oversatt.Besvart fra Country Camping Schinderhannes June 25, 2012There are paved pitches with full supply/disposal, if anyone would like one please let reception know on arrival. We will then explain which ones are available.Automatisk oversatt.
