- Ulrike T.May 2019Positive tingLocation and viewNegative tingSanitary facilities too scarce and far to walk.Very large space... with few power sockets, toilets and showers (4 in total), without own catering facilities on site. Shortly after the bridge to the island is a well-stocked supermarket (10 km away), nearby various restaurants. Very long beach, shallow water. Great views of rugged rocks and the bay, recommended walks and definitely a trip to Keem in the west. With a bit of luck, seals and whales can be seen.Automatisk oversatt.
- David C.July 2018Positive tingOn beach. Nice mountain view, when the mist lifted.Negative tingCan be very windy. Extra charge for awning!Nice site direct on km long sandy shallow beach.Pick a place and erect your tent/caravan. Electric points needed 2x25m power cable. Should have looked before setting up!! Small supermarket, 'take away' and good Restaurant ca. 200m from Site.
- Andreas S.May 2018Not convincing, but OK for an overnight stayThis site is located about 100m from the shore of the Atlantic Ocean. It feels like there are around 100 pitches + tent pitches. There are also around 50 mobile homes here. There is a free choice of pitches. As a rule, the pitches are level and, with a bit of good will, a sea view is also possible. Registering... was a test of patience, as there was a sign at reception saying "I'm somewhere near the mobile homes". Later I wanted to buy a shower token, but despite several attempts I couldn't find an employee anywhere. The beach is a meeting point for surfers of all kinds. With a few exceptions, it is coarse gravel and not suitable for sunbathing. The power points are few and far between, 50m of cable is recommended. At the end of May, we paid €20 for a motorhome with 2 people and electricity. (Our dogs were free) WLAN 1€/24 hours. There is a small supermarket about 200m outside.Automatisk oversatt.
- Regina S.July 2017Positive tingLocation directly on a beautiful sandy beachNegative tingDirty, waiting times at the sanitary facilities, overcrowded and chaoticNothing for usThe campsite was overcrowded and seemed chaotic. There are pitches on asphalt - quite hilly - and grass - some with quite large holes. People walk and drive everywhere here, not just on the designated paths, so it happened that at some times our caravan was surrounded by cars on all sides. The power... supply is largely a disaster. A triple distributor protrudes from a socket for one pitch. If everyone has something going at the same time, it is quickly overloaded and the fuse blows. The sanitary facilities are far too small. Queuing for the toilet and shower is the norm. The facilities are also dingy and some of the toilet cubicle doors cannot be locked.Automatisk oversatt.
- Günter K.June 2017Positive tingLocation, cleanliness, spacious pitches. PriceNegative tingVery windy, the weather can change quickly. However, this also means that rain showers are quickly over again.Great quiet locationAfter a friendly welcome, you can choose your own pitch. There are asphalted pitches and grass pitches available. Many with direct electricity connection on site. 2 sanitary buildings are sufficient. The site is very windy as it lies directly behind the bay. No trees. If you are looking for Irish countryside,... this is the place for you. Good wifi. However, only for an extra charge of €1 per 24 hours. Shower tokens. 1€ for 5 minutes of hot water. Separate waste disposal station for motorhomes.Automatisk oversatt.
- Andreas W.July 2016Positive tingFriendly welcome, nice location with beautiful beachNegative tingUnclean sanitary facilitiesNice location and beautiful beachOur second port of call on the island of Ireland and the first in Ireland itself was the Keel Sandybanks campsite on Achill Island. The site was clean and the reception was very friendly. We were allocated our pitch very quickly and unbureaucratically, which meant we could simply choose it. The sanitary... facilities were basic, but unfortunately not particularly clean. The direct location by the sea was great, but it was just too cold for us to swim (17 degrees air temperature at the end of July, the sea was around 15 degrees). The Irish are made of harder wood and went swimming every day. The "abandoned village" can be visited near the campsite. The campsite is in a very scenic location and is therefore well worth a visit.Automatisk oversatt.
- Alfred P.August 2014Positive tingbeautiful viewNegative tingstrong windDream bayThe site is located on a beautiful sandy beach. Good starting point for excursions on Achill Island. The site is absolutely clean in all areas. The staff are very friendly and helpful. At first glance, the site seems quite large, but it is not overcrowded or noisy. What is annoying is the constant strong wind.Automatisk oversatt.
