- Tom B.March 2024Positive tingLocation, cleanliness, friendliness,Negative tingLots of puddles when it rains and no lighting on the paths in the dune area at night.Happy EasterA beautifully situated campsite. You can reach the sea very quickly and the North Holland Dune Reserve is ideal for cycling. There is a fast connection from Castricum to Amsterdam.
The site is rather natural, the sanitary facilities are new and clean. The types of pitches leave nothing to be desired.... Either on grass under trees, certainly nice in summer, or the pitches in the dune area, which are not made of sand but of a mixture of shells. There is a supermarket, snack bar and camping store, but we didn't use these due to the somewhat high prices in our opinion and the proximity to Castricum and the stores and restaurants there. There are lots of sports and play facilities for children.Automatisk oversatt. - Hubertus P.May 2022Positive tingBeautiful pitches and lots of space. Very child-friendly. Great surroundings and easy to reach by bike.Negative tingWide paths to the water points, many holes in the ground on the pitches, very sandy ground.Very nice and well-kept campsite. We will be back!We were there for a week with 2 children in May. As it was absolutely low season, we were lucky enough to be almost alone in our corner, which meant a lot of peace and quiet. Only the aircraft noise was a little annoying, depending on the wind direction. The wash houses were simple and functional, but... always very clean. The staff were very friendly and always helpful.
The ground is very sandy and has deep holes in places, making it difficult to position the caravan correctly without a mover and pushing aid. In addition, the fresh water points are quite far away, depending on the pitch.
For children, there is something new to discover at every corner, there are large and small playgrounds, something for every age.
The Spar market on the site offers everything you need for life and is well stocked.
The beach could be a bit closer, but that's not the campsite's fault.
All in all, we liked it very much and would love to come back!Automatisk oversatt. - Matthias P.April 2022Positive tingBeautiful pitches in the forest area, short distance to the sea, exciting surroundings and fast connection to AmsterdamNegative tingVisual impression of the permanent campsitesLovely pre-Easter stay, we would love to come againWe spent a wonderful week in Bakkum! Large pitches under tall pine trees, the entire infrastructure was open, although the site was only about 10% full.
The "contactless" arrival and departure via license plate scan worked smoothly. The many parking spaces are also very nice, so that you don't have to... leave the towing vehicles by the caravan!
Due to the wind direction, you could hear airplanes approaching Amsterdam from time to time, but overall it wasn't very disturbing.
The surrounding area with its excellently developed and signposted hiking and cycling trails is worth the trip in itself! In 12 minutes by bike to Castricum station, then in 20 minutes by train to Amsterdam city center - what more could you want!
The walk to the beach is about 1 km long, climbing over the last dune before the beach is certainly a bit strenuous, but we are on vacation...
The restaurant serves really tasty food and the prices are reasonable. The small SPAR supermarket really does have everything you need, but you should take a picture of the opening times, as they are not "memorable".
The sanitary blocks are simple but perfectly fine, fairly new and clean. The cleaning frequency was sufficient for the low pitch occupancy, but in summer it certainly needs to be done a lot more.
We liked it very much, a tip for a really good meal in a great atmosphere: Restaurant "Het Ruiterhuys", approx. 1.5 km away!Automatisk oversatt. - Simone S.August 2018Super vacationWere 10 days at the campsite it was a wonderful vacation children had a lot of fun the dunes and the beach a dream very clean nice people delicious pizza we will be backAutomatisk oversatt.
- Simon P.May 2018Positive ting- beautifully situated pitches - many playgrounds for children - no dogs allowed!Negative ting- WC cleanliness - Toilet paper in the corridor (!) - long and uncomfortable access to the beachGood average, but no more...!Beautiful large site (very spacious, as there are many DC & mobile homes) with lots of play facilities and a wide variety of pitches. Our children (6+10) were actually out and about all day on their bikes. The path to the beach is sometimes very difficult. It's better to take the main road to Castricum... aan Zee. What bothered us the most was that the toilet paper was only available in the corridor and the cleanliness of the cottage as a whole. The attempt to make it cleaner with this method unfortunately backfired. Toilet paper was constantly lying around everywhere in the seating areas. And I personally find it difficult to calculate in advance how much paper you actually need. The cleaning staff could also have shown up more often (yes I know, the campers are not insignificantly to blame for this!) Well, overall it was a nice stay, but we probably won't come back, as there are much nicer places in Holland.Automatisk oversatt.
- Inge I.July 2017Positive tingLocation in the dunes, great cycle paths, beautiful little towns nearby, evening markets (e.g. Egmond) and Festival of Lights (August in Bergen) ...Negative tingThe unfortunately sometimes, depending on the weather, annoying AIRCRAFTAGAIN AND AGAIN WITH PLEASURE !!!We are going to Bakkum for the 10th time next year ... We always like it. The place is good and the surroundings offer a lot: relaxation, beach, landscape, markets, and and andAutomatisk oversatt.
- Andreas K.August 2016Positive tingBeautiful pitches Everything you need for camping on site. Many playgrounds.Negative tingAircraft noise depending on wind direction Beach approx. 1km away. The last 200m are very difficult with a baby carriage because of the sand.Large pitch in a beautiful dune landscapeThe square is quite nice and has everything you need. Snack bars/restaurants, a food market, lots of playgrounds. The beautifully wide beach is about 1 km away. In between is a beautiful dune landscape that is perfect for hiking and cycling. We stayed with our 25m² tent on the campsite without electricity.... Probably one of the best locations on the campsite. The tent just about fitted on the pitch. The pitches are separated from each other by "dunes" and the next tent is far enough away. The only annoying thing is the noise of airplanes flying through the tent every two minutes throughout the night. You should definitely have earplugs with you.Automatisk oversatt.
- Björn K.July 2016Positive ting+++++Negative tingWC paper in the hallwayGreat placeJust great. Really friendly staff. What is really unusual is that you have to take the paper in the hallway before going to the toilet.Automatisk oversatt.
- Jonas v.June 2015Positive tingLocation, pine trees, beach, dunes, infrastructureNegative tingFew useful playgrounds, aircraft noiseVery pleasant in the low season! We chose this campsite because of its great location in North Holland. Alkmaar (12km), Amsterdam (30km) and many other well-known cities are less than 1 hour away. We were there at the end of June/beginning of July and had wonderfully quiet days. But this was also due to the fact that we had found a... quiet corner. On the dune pitches and in other corners of the campsite it was sometimes a bit louder at weekends. We really liked the pitches under the pine trees and the atmosphere among the seasonal pensioners. The only thing that was inadequate for our needs was the provision of meaningful playgrounds. Although there is a large, great playground in the middle of the huge site, it took quite a while to get there from the tourist pitches. Our sanitary building was never overcrowded or dirty in the low season. The cleaning team arrived every late morning and cleaned it completely with steam jets etc. The large SPAR supermarket on site had most of what you needed at normal prices; however, it did not replace the regular trips to Albert Heijn to buy the great Dutch specialties ;-) In addition to the supermarket, there is a restaurant, a pizza bar, a fish restaurant, a snack bar, an ice cream store and another snack bar. All at moderate prices. There was also a bike rental service. We usually drove to the sea by car (parking lot 6€ daily rate), as our baby didn't like cycling at all... In the low season we paid a total of around €25 per night, which we thought was very reasonable considering what was on offer. The aforementioned aircraft noise was very present depending on the wind direction. If the wind came from the sea, all planes had to take off in a westerly direction and then turn north/east over the campsite after take-off. This sometimes led to an overflight every 2 minutes... During our second week, however, the weather and the wind had changed and the planes no longer had to fly over the campsite. It was much quieter then. However, it's like many things: if you decide that it doesn't bother you, then you can put up with it without any problems. Conclusion: We will certainly be back if we are ever in the area again!Automatisk oversatt.
- Micha R.August 2014Positive tingFriendliness, beautiful locationNegative tingAircraft noiseAbsolute favorite campsiteI would especially like to praise the friendly staff, really great! You immediately feel at homeAutomatisk oversatt.
- Xx Y.August 2014Positive tingBeautiful location, child-friendly hole, great beachNegative tingFLYING NOISE!!!Rummelig, Amsterdam approach laneFirst things first: the area is very beautiful. The path to the beach through the dunes is long, but beautiful. The location of the huge pitch in the woods is also beautiful. A paradise for children, especially on vacation. But: the sanitary facilities are "dusty", renovation would be appropriate. They... are also far too small. The situation is correspondingly bad in high season. Some places are hard to find, there was no help finding them. And then the absolute no-go, which even the predominantly friendly staff couldn't get over: FLYING NOISE!!!! Certainly great for planespotters, after all the planes are max. 200 meters high... But I can't find that great on vacation. Conclusion: unfortunately not again.Automatisk oversatt.
- Caroline K.July 2013There are not enough sanitary facilities in high season. Sometimes you had to queue to shower. The site is otherwise quiet and everything is availableAutomatisk oversatt.
- Kerstin W.June 2013Exceptionally spacious pitches in a sparse forest, tall trees, sandy ground. Wild rabbits and even a fox could be observed. You are not allowed to park your car on all pitches, but there are large parking spaces within the campsite grounds. The sanitary facilities were quite good during the week, but... at the weekend there were lots of families with children and then the cleanliness was no longer good, as smaller children used the sanitary facilities on their own and some children used the sanitary facilities as a playground due to the bad weather. The staff at reception: at registration, one member of staff was very friendly and spoke some German, but her colleague's very unprofessional manner was hardly acceptable. We had to pay in advance. Information about the surrounding area (how to get to Castricum or Amsterdam by public transport) could not be elicited from the two ladies, and there were no bus timetables. We involuntarily walked a lot, the bus only ran the Castricum-beach route daily from the following week. It takes about 40 minutes to walk to the train station. Very nice: a well-stocked Spar market on site, chicken grill, chip shop, pizza and fish are also available. The beach is fantastic, offers the opportunity to hike for miles, return by bus.Automatisk oversatt.
- Bianca G.July 2012A very nice, spacious place. The staff is very friendly and helpful, lots of play equipment for the children and the entertainment team is great, the beach (approx. 1-1.5 km) is clean and very nice.Automatisk oversatt.
- Rafael K.May 2012It was our first time at this classic Holland campsite. Despite the Whitsun vacations, the pitch was great with plenty of space around. A great place for families with small children, lots of playgrounds, good infrastructure, very nice staff and a good distance from the sea. We will certainly be back.Automatisk oversatt.
- Laura V.October 2011Lovely campsite, enjoyed the beautiful autumn this year. Camping gives good privacy, quiet, location in forest and close to sea. Reception staff took time to chat, friendly.Automatisk oversatt.
- Jean-Marie B.August 2011Unfortunately we were disappointed with this campsite. We won't be coming back to Holland so soon. Our impressions and circumstances were: First impression when arriving at the campsite reception = unwelcoming, only in bad English and wrong directions to the reserved pitch. = very unprofessional staff!!!... The campsite reserved well in advance = almost too small for a normal caravan with awning, others who only had a tent had a much larger pitch. = Unequal pitches for the same price!!! Campsite facilities. = Sanitary facilities very old, very dirty, as there were a lot of small children on the site. From 23:00 you are no longer allowed to use the toilet as it is closed (??). Sometimes a lot of dirt on the site, despite it being a nature reserve and therefore not allowed to BBQ (??). Other = Internet is only possible in the "Internet house", not even in the reception room, at too expensive a price. The beach (which has NO showers) is 1 km away, access through the nature reserve, or via the lakeside road. If the weather is bad, the approach to Amsterdam airport is via the campsite (??). The restaurant at the campsite is: too expensive, unprofessional staff and poorly cooked. That would be our verdict on this campsite. Result 1 star maximum.Automatisk oversatt.
