- Susanne B.July 2022PozytywneFantastic naturally ingrown grounds, super practical for dog owners and campers looking for peace and quietNegatywneNot really a disadvantage, but the sanitary facilities are a bit outdated. The shower rooms are lacking in little things ...A beautiful spot of natureHere you will find pure nature and wonderful peace and quiet. Perfect for us with a dog. Just behind the campsite there are wonderful walks around the large gallows pond and the drinking water reservoir, further into the forest etc..
The small gallows pond (bathing pond) is definitely great for children,... as there is a mega slide and you can get there directly from the campsite.
I could imagine that a winter vacation here is also a dream, because then the cross-country ski trails lead directly past the CP.
The sanitary facilities are a bit outdated, but super clean. The showers are in need of improvement. There is no possibility to store or hang up your bag and clothes. There are little things missing, such as a stool, coat hooks and labeling for hot and cold. Since you have to put in 50 cents, it's a bit awkward when you're trying to figure out how to turn on the cold water ;) The young couple who run the place are very helpful and the older lady who was here on Sunday is super nice and somehow an original. We will definitely be back and can highly recommend the campsite to anyone who loves peace and nature.Przetłumaczone automatycznie. - Torsten S.October 2020PozytywneLocation Friendliness Helpful Bread roll serviceNegatywneNothing foundBeautiful place in beautiful surroundingsWe felt very comfortable with the new operators. A beautifully laid out site with pitches for all needs.
Ideal for hiking and biking. Shopping within 3 km on foot.
Also ideal for dogs.
The site has even more potential which the new operators are eager to reveal.
The site lighting will certainly be improved and the Wi-Fi for the more remote pitches.
We will definitely be back!

(Even if it is with a sharpie)A beautiful placeWe spent two weeks on the site as "travelers". That speaks volumes. The leisure facilities in the area are very good. The site is rustic and therefore very charming. There is also an outdoor pool, which is directly accessible from the campsite. The staff and operators are very friendly, flexible and guest-oriented. All in all, a great two weeks.Przetłumaczone automatycznie.
- Klaus H.July 2020PozytywneGood location, to the village, for hiking or biking. Quiet.NegatywneThe new operators still have a lot to do here in terms of course maintenance, infrastructure, etc.Beautiful place with new operatorsBasically a very nice place that still needs some care and maintenance. Obviously the new operators have taken over a "ruin" and have already tackled a few things, but there is still just as much to do. A wonderful starting point for all kinds of activities at any time of year. Pure peace and nature. Bathing lake is part of the site.Przetłumaczone automatycznie.Odpowiedź od Camping Galgenteich September 18, 2020Hello Klaus,

Many boundaries to neighbors due to trees. Dedicated and always accessible operators, delicious bread rolls to order. Within walking distance of the Raupennest thermal baths (approx. 15 min), shopping facilities (approx.... 10 min) and café/restaurants. The sanitary facilities are simple and clean. During our winter camping stay at the turn of the year, there was mulled wine by the fire bowl every evening and a culinary offer (e.g. wild boar on a spit or reindeer burgers)Przetłumaczone automatycznie.Odpowiedź od Camping Galgenteich September 18, 2020Hello Frank-Robert,
Many, many thanks for the great and detailed review! We are delighted that you enjoyed your winter stay so much.

Short distances to the town, swimming pool, ski slope, cross-country ski trails directly behind the campsite.NegatywneNoneIdeal winter pitchWe stayed at the campsite four times in a row over New Year's Eve. we were always welcomed in a friendly and courteous manner and during our stay they always had an open ear for our little problems. we must mention the cozy evenings with mulled wine, bratwurst and soup from the goulash cannon. a real... highlight were of course the New Year's Eve celebrations at which the Martin family prepared a wonderful and sumptuous feast. there was always a great atmosphere with great disco music. The condition of the site was good in terms of tidiness and cleanliness, the same applies to the sanitary facilities, and thanks to the clearing service provided by the staff, the paths were easy to drive on, even when there was a lot of snow. we think that the fact alone that the site was fully booked over New Year's Eve probably speaks for the fact that all guests felt comfortable.Przetłumaczone automatycznie.

- Helmut S.March 2018PozytywneLocationNegatywneLockedNobody available over lunchtime except a large dogDespite making arrangements by phone shortly beforehand, no one was available during the lunch break, we stood in front of a closed reception at -14*C, as did the restaurant. The sanitary facilities were also locked, so we drove on towards Redeberg.Przetłumaczone automatycznie.Odpowiedź od Camping Galgenteich September 18, 2020Hello Helmut,
We are very sorry that you had such a bad experience when you arrived in Altenberg. We have been the new tenants of the campsite at Galgenteich since April 2019. We would like to say that we go to great lengths to make all our guests feel welcome.

- Jochen G.July 2017Unfortunately not suitable for comfortNot recommended for camping with a tent. Since, according to the camping staff, the more important permanent campers must not be disturbed, we were put on a tent meadow, even though there were nicer spots for a small tent. Even on the special tent meadow, you are then forced to pitch your tent near a... single power distributor, unless you have at least 40 m of cable with you. Otherwise, the location and scenery of the campsite is a matter of taste, we have experienced much nicer campsites. As a family, we also found the price-performance ratio not quite right. The sanitary facilities are okay, the lake for swimming is a plus. The owner of the campsite still needs to work on her friendliness towards customers! The reception office was not manned when we arrived, so we used the marked bell. After three minutes, no one answered and I rang the bell again. This was a big mistake, followed by a lecture that she was not deaf and that ringing twice was unnecessary. Well, as they say, you don't get a second chance to make a first impression. If we are in the area again, we will look around for alternatives.Przetłumaczone automatycznie.Odpowiedź od Camping Galgenteich September 18, 2020Hello Jochen,
We regret that you had such a bad experience during your visit to the campsite in Altenberg in summer 2017. We have been the new tenants of the campsite at Galgenteich since April 2019 and are now doing our best to make every guest feel welcome and comfortable. Our doors are always open.

- Dieneke v.July 2015Next time a different campsite....We spent several days at this campsite in July 2015. The campsite is located on kind of plateau near Altenberg. Due to high altitude (800m) it is about 6 degrees cooler there than in the surrounding area. Pleasant in warm day, but evening and nights are quickly cold. The campground is located on the... outskirts of the village, close to forest. Due to plateau, there is always (sometimes a lot of) wind at the campsite, so it feels cold quickly. At the campsite there are many older stagasten. When our children played they often got unfriendly remarks from all kinds of stagasten. Like that they were not allowed to fill water balloons, not allowed to use a water pistol, not allowed to search for branches, not allowed to fill a bottle of water etc etc. The campground has no playground and no play area. Children are not allowed to go to the toilet block alone. Toilet building offers sufficient facilities, but everything has to be paid for separately (showers etc.). Total amount for this campsite (caravan, family with 2 children) was almost 40 euros, shower costs were on top of that. Given the simple facilities offered at this campsite a considerable amount. In front of the campsite is a barrier this is closed between 22 and 8.00 and between 11 and 15 hours . Outside the barrier of the campsite is a parking ban. In fact, during the period that the barrier is closed, you can not arrive or leave the campsite. The reception had very limited opening hours (2 hours in the morning and a few hours in the evening). To ask questions, order bread, in case of problems with electricity there was very limited time to ask these questions etc. The owner of the campsite was not very flexible and helpful. We found this very inconvenient. Because we had to make a long trip we wanted to leave on time (8:00 am). Unfortunately this turned out not to be possible because our electricity had to be disconnected and this could not be done before 9.15 am. Only then could the final payment be made, so we could not leave before almost 10:00. We did have to leave before 11 o'clock, otherwise the barrier was closed. Pinning was impossible. Next to the campground is a nice landscaped swimming lake with slide. The water is unheated, so on cool days the water is cold. The water from the lake looked very brown. At night there were noisy loitering youth from the village at the swimming lake. There were naked adults/older people walking by the swimming lake. There is Wifi at the campsite, only the internet speed is so slow that it is impossible to load a page (even when sitting at the reception). The campground owner appeared to know about this afterwards, but continued to offer the product. There were charges for using this WiFi. We had to wait 3 days for an access code for WiFi, but unfortunately we waited for nothing. We visited Prague and Dresden from this campsite and took a nice walk in the hills. But we did not like the stay at this campsite as much, so should we ever visit this area again we will look for another campsite.Przetłumaczone automatycznie.

- Oliver B.September 2013We have to sweeten the place a bit for our predecessors. We were on the site with friends on the weekend of 20.09-22.09.2013. We can say the place is very nice and very well maintained. The sanitary facilities are by no means from the pre-war period, well they are not luxury sanitary facilities but they... are very well maintained, renovated and clean. The nice lady at the registration desk has the place under control and takes care of everything if you have any questions. The bread roll service worked wonderfully and they were very tasty. The place is generally wonderfully quiet and you can relax wonderfully. If you want to go hiking, there are plenty of opportunities to do so, as well as to explore the nearby village of Altenberg. The campsite is open all year round and we booked spontaneously for New Year's Eve and are already looking forward to it.Przetłumaczone automatycznie.

- Michael B.August 2011Individual, moderately maintained meadows bordered by conifers in attractive surroundings but with no particular view. Predominantly characterized by permanent campers, separate pitches for tourists. Pre-reunification toilets, more recent washrooms, both acceptable and clean. Hot water in showers and... sinks only for a fee, no cold showers without payment. Campsite restaurant permanently closed. Swimming in the small gallows pond only possible via the adjacent swimming pool. Very friendly and committed site management.Przetłumaczone automatycznie.
