"Very nice CP in the heart of the province of Groningen - Highly recommended: beautiful campsite, friendly staff, clean, modern sanitary facilities. Beautiful, old trees and hedges. The restaurant is chic and is also used externally (which usually speaks for a restaurant!), good bread roll service, canoe rental at the campsite, as well as moorings for water sports enthusiasts. The location of Winsum is ideal for exploring the province of Groningen. A very well organized cycle path system (almost without road use!) takes you everywhere. And the train from Winsum to the center of Groningen every 30 minutes. Shopping facilities available in Wisum (supermarket and ALDI).

MARENLAND recreation is an very varied medium-sized recreation company situated on the outskirts of the picturesque village of Winsum (13 km north of the city of Groningen). It is situated in the heart of a rising tourist area, the so-called …Maren area of the province of Groningen, or Lauwersland. Winsum is directly located on several (ANWB) canoe, bicycle and walking routes, e.g. the LAW (= Long Distance Walking route) Pieterpad. By offering various leisure products one gets an opportunity to get to know the many varied possibilities of the Maren area of the province of Groningen and Lauwersland. Winsum is situated on road N361 and can easily be reached by train and bus. There are many possibilities for active rest seekers and nature lovers (gardens, birds, the Wadden), culture (manors, regional museums, art galleries) and historical/agricultural elements (impressive farms, manor houses, mills). Furthermore the city of Groningen is well worth a visit.
